Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. Anyone have the weight on the new Ice Magwell? Would like to know how close it comes to the S&A I currently use. Thanks, Brian
  2. Two-tone finish on my Limited gun with Canyon Creek's TiAIN (or Canyon Blue) on the slide and HC on the frame. I'm liking the Canyon Blue; harder than HC and very attractive.
  3. I played with HS-6 and it is indeed, a very soft load. It is however, very dirty which is why I do not run it through my pistol. From what I've heard, VV is very nice but the availability and pricing keeps me away. No experience with Silhouette and unfortunately it is not as available as others in my neck of the woods. According to what I'v read, Autocomp is clean and a tad softer than my current 7625. I think I'm gonna give it a whirl. Thanks for the input, Brian
  4. Cocobolo - Thanks! That was the input I was looking for. Gonna give it a try.
  5. "I tried the search function and either it is not working or my computer is not allowing me to see anything"... Maybe the software upgrade isn't 100% complete but I'll keep trying. Brian, try the search function, there is so much autocomp info here that it's not worth repeating ... Alan
  6. Hello All, Anyone out there that with IMR7625 and AutoComp experience for 9 Major? I'm running low on 7625 and AutoComp is readily available and less expensive at my local shop. While my "go-to" 7625 is somewhat clean, I find it to be a little on the violent side even through my 5" gun (3-port hybricomp, 2-port comp) with 7.3gr/WSPP/1.175"COAL. Not looking for load data, just an overall report on soft/violent, clean/dirty, temp sensitivity, etc.. I tried the search function and either it is not working (maybe the software upgrade on BE hasn't fully kicked in yet) or my computer is not allowing me to see anything. Any helpful information would be appreciated. Thanks for the info, Brian
  7. Contact Rich at Canyon Creek Custom http://www.canyoncreekcustom.com/ and ask him about his "full-length hi-power cut". He takes material off the sides of the slide but leaves it full width at the rails. Not sure how he'll work it around the factory serrations that come with your Edge but it's worth asking him. Brian
  8. Nevermind, figured it out. Thanks, Brian
  9. I asked them on Facebook and the reply today was it is still in R&D as we speak with no timetable. I don't really need one but I know I wanna buy one for some reason!
  10. Is this through a 5" gun? AutoComp is readily available in my neck of the woods and I'd like to give it a try. Thanks, Brian
  11. Another fan here of the Powderfunnel! Since we are sharing our reloading stages with the LNL AP, here's what I do: 1. Resize/Decap with Hornady die 2. EGW U-Die 3. Hornady Case Activated powder measure with Powderfunnel 4. Seat Bullet with Hornady die 5. Crimp Bullet with Hornady die Brian
  12. No problem. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with lead bullets, I've used FMJ's since I started and haven't had a reason to change. Brian
  13. One thing I read when first getting started on reloading for IPSC was that seating and crimping in seperate stations would be beneficial. Here's what I know; we are not looking for a "crimp" by definition, but more of a flattening of the bell of the case so as to secure the bullet in place without crushing it. The brass I use has an average wall thickness of .012", your brass will vary. The MG 124gr. bullets I use measure at .355". The formula I use is wall thickness [both sides] (.012 X 2) + bullet diameter (.355) = .379". I measure this with calipers at the point where the bell is/was and figure +/-.001". Doing it in seperate stations makes it easier to adjust and maintain the proper "crimp" assuming you heavily scrutinize your competition reloads. Hope this helps as I'm sure some of the more experienced will likely chime in to correct me. Brian
  14. Pro2 is absolutely correct! I had the same problem in my LNL and since I went that route, problem solved. You may also want to check this out as it has made my life simpler as well: http://www.powderfunnels.com/products.html Brian Do your seating and crimping in separate stations.
  15. Anyone try a DARM on a Caspian Hi-cap? I've got one along with a few Para's that have a squared trigger-guard ala Canyon Creek and would love to give this holster a test drive. Based on a few emails I've shared with Saul, my Para's may be out of luck. I figure that there are now a few out there, someone might have had a chance to tinker or find the right model. Thanks, Brian
