I enjoyed shooting so when the call went out for staff at sectional and area matches, I volunteered. Without people helping, I would not be able to shoot so it was time for me to do it. A couple matches it cost me money for Motel and gas and that was OK even though I did not get to shoot. Working a major can be a lot of fun. Best ones I ever worked were IDPA New England Regionals early in my shooting. Shot with some great people. Had a 1911 go down on me during the staff shoot and had Massad Ayoob loan me a TGO1 he was doing an article on so I could finish. We (staff) were put up at the local club members houses and fed every night with some type of barbecue. We all got to be very good friends and the friendships hold today. That is what the sport was all about for me and why I volunteered The last two USPSA matches I worked I did not shoot. One was 4 days away from home other I volunteered one day for chrono on staff day. At the one day match, I couldn't even get a bottle of water and it was my last. People that volunteer and shoot is one thing. People that volunteer and don't shoot is another. There are wives that do not shoot that help. They deserve recognition. There are club members that volunteer and do not participate in the sport. They need to be acknowledged. There are a lot of people that work as ROs and ask for nothing and they need to be recognized. If you want to work a match, I say do it. It is the best experience you can get. If you are a Match Director looking for staff, remember to take care of the people that are helping you out.

What it comes down to is "depends on the state" and must be a long gun Call your local ATF for a better response. 2 FFL NEWSLETTER August 2004 CONTIGUOUS STATE – PART 2 In an article that appeared in the December 2002 edition of the FFL Newsletter , we advised FFLs that the “contiguous state” provisions of the Gun Control Act were amended in 1986, and that the GCA allows dealers to sell or dispose of a long gun to a resident of another state provided, (1) the purchaser was not otherwise prohibited from receiving or possessing a firearm under the GCA, and ( 2) the sale, delivery and receipt fully comply with the legal conditions of sale in the buyer’s and seller’s States. The condition of sale relating to compliance with the applicable laws of both States cited above continues to cause confusion among dealers, particularly among those dealers who conduct business in a State whose laws presently contain language that allows “contiguous state” sales. Historically, prior to the 1986 amendments to the GCA, many States enacted provisions in their laws that allowed their residents to acquire a long gun in a contiguous State. For the most part, these State law provisions were modeled after the contiguous state provisions of the GCA. However, even though the GCA was amended in 1986 to allow the sale of long guns to residents of any State pursuant to the conditions cited above, many States have not yet amended their laws to reflect similar language. ATF takes the position that if the laws of a given State allow its residents to acquire a long gun in a contiguous State, those laws also allow its residents to acquire a long gun in any other State where the laws of that State permit such transactions, unless the language contained in that State’s law expressly prohibits it residents from acquiring a firearm outside that State. Questions regarding particular State law provisions should be referred to your local ATF office.

When you go to buy springs, Bill, let me know. I can probably help you out a little through one of our mutual friends. I pretty much use Wolff Springs only and buy by the 10 pack for my pistols. I now shoot with my carry gun, when I shoot and always make sure mags perform with no problems. I also date the mags with a sharpie with date the spring was changed so I know.

Being that I have really no reliable place to walk in and buy any type of ammo, I use Target Sports USA and have it delivered to the door. The proces are fair, they pay shipping on case lots, and usually have something. I get the weekly specials and buy the they have it. This week they had Mini Mags at $9.95 a box of 100 but had a 5 box limit so I had to pay shipping. I have found them good to deal with. TARGET SPORTS USA

I found MyLoc nuts in my local hardware store. I don't recall the size. They hold on the screws but do not fit in the recess of the pouch. I emailed CR Speed 2 times asking size and never heard back from them. To me that is poor customer service.

For AVAST, I did an exclusion. Double click on Avast so the main screen comes up, click on the wheel in top right corner, choose exclusions and cut and paste the forum address into an exclusion.

Thanks for the offer. She is off for a new life and it doesn't look like she is interested so I dug it out over the weekend as much as I hated to do it. I will cover the area with wood chips to make it visually OK and let her and any buyers work out her shed and fence problems. I have taken care of my part. I can't see any bank giving a mortgage with the encroachment.

I suggested that but the cost with surveyor and attorneys was 4K. Her significant other did not want to split the cost. Now that the children have moved out I really don't need the extra space so as much as I hate to do it, I will dig up the stone and spread wood chips to make it look ok and wait until buyers have a surveyor tell them of the encroachment.

Well it finally happened. After 30 years in the same house with the same neighbors, I decided to have a surveyor set my property bounds. Found out I encroach in the front of the lot with an extended driveway but neighbor encroached with shed and fence in the back on the same line. All was fine until neighbors decided to sell. Now she has moved out of state and house is up for sale. I hate digging up the driveway but it has to be done. Hope she knows she has to move fence and shed before she sells. Talked to her but she seems to be ignoring the issue.
