  1. I am hoping you went to an Opthalmologist and not just the ER Doctor. I almost lost my sight because I didn't with an injury. WG
  2. Oh wow, these are what I was looking for. I need to do something with my Sentry. Thanks for posting the website. WG
  3. Officially down 32 pounds and 11-3/4 combined inches. wg
  4. yea, I think we have pretty much decided you have to get a G35, not a Para. Too bad.
  5. This or not really able to focus on the front sight because of the f/o. I don't think you need to sight in a 25 yards either, but that one is more personal, and is probably a bigger deal with an optic mounted higher above the bore axis. wg
  6. Interesting thread. It is funny, I just got a short lesson on comps today. I have a new to me 9mm Open Steel gun, the guy that it belonged to had the same builder make him a new Bianchi gun, then sent this one in to be set up as his backup Bianchi gun. One of the things they did to this old gun that has had something like 200,000 estimated rounds through it is bore out the comp. It is now about .415". Suddenly this gun became, for him, a 1" @ 50 yard gun. This gun was now grouping better for him than his new Bianchi gun! Fast forward to today when I finally got the mags and got to shoot an Open gun for the first time. All I can say is amazing....you put the dot on somethng, press-boom and there's a hole, nothing else really moves....there is just a hole in what you were aiming at. Now I am not the best one to sight in a dot sight, but after I did that, shooting off the bed of an old '63 flat bed Chevy truck, I proceeded to shoot about a 1" group at 15 yards using cheapo factory ammo, anyway most of the holes were touching. Not the best group but I guess I am saying that my buddy wasn't kidding when he said it was a 1" gun. The other interesting point is that as far as I know, the comp was working great. I mean the barrel was not moving when I shot that thing. Anyway, just my personal observation. wg
  7. A good test is to shoot one shot dead center and bang off the 2nd shot as fast as possible. If the 2nd shot is high the spring is too light. if its low it's too heavy. This is very interesting. One thing I really noticed when I transitioned from my stock Edge to my custom gun was how close the bullet holes were with the new gun. I know it is due to a combination of things, but never really considered the spring weight coming into play, I figured spring weight was determined by slide weight and load, but never really thought about how you can adjust it for an individuals shooting style. Good Stuff. wg
  8. I have shot a 5" and 6" sightracker, and I like the 6" better, but I don't think it was because it was a sightracker. I couldn't tell the difference, the slide is comming back/forward so fast. Personally I would build another 6" gun and have a practice gun and a match gun. then you can have a backup gun in matches, that is very identical to your primary. If you want trigger work, send it to shay. he does some phenomenal triggers. I am not sure if Shay or Derek actually did my trigger, but it was done during their "transition". Can a person use a 6" gun in "Standard" division? I need to check that out ultimately and go from there, but you are correct, another 6" would probably make the most sense. wg
  9. I think it would be a good option to have something I could shoot IPSC Standard with, say I wanted to go to a big shoot in Europe or something. 6", sight trackers or weights on the end of the barrel would kick you out of that, wouldn't it? wg
  10. I have one, except it is 1" at 50 yards. It was built by Derek J., Millennium Custom. It is a 9mm, with a Scheumann Barrel. It was set up as an Open Bianchi gun at the time, using Atlanta Arms Ammo. It is now set up as an Open steel gun and is still more accurate than I can shoot it. wg
  11. I have a very nice custom 6" Limited gun, and an STI Edge. I am trying to figure out what to do with the Edge. Do I leave it alone or have a little fun with it, especially with the possible changes in the rules in Limited. Do I build a IPSC "Standard" gun, just keep it as a backup as is, or start adding all sorts of EGW stuff? Right now, with the exception of a little spring tunning, the Edge is bone stock. I would like to do most everything myself. I enjoy that sort of stuff. On the other hand, I could send it to Bobby or Shay and get the works done. Hmmm, what to do..... WG
  12. Ha, that was way out there....I must have hit something with my thumbs....Don't know where that was intended for, I think one of the sponsored shooter threads.. wg
  13. Ya have to remember, there are a few out there that are shooting what appears to be the same gun as before with a different name engraved on the slide. wg
  14. We just put one down two days ago... We all cried like babys. He was a stray that showed up one day. He stuck around so we fed him and he decided to stay. One time he was gone for a while, he came back one day and I noticed his jewels were missing...He had gone visiting the neighbors, was caught in the act with his female, so he got cut then and there... Another time he was across the road and another neighbor shot his leg off, so we had a three legged dog... A few years back he was in the field behind the house and the coyotes got him, they almost tore out what the first neighbor missed... We had more money in vet bills in that dang dog, I swear. He was loyal, couldn't hear a dang thing but always barked when the school bus drove by, we never figured that one out, no his name wasn't Lucky, it was Rusty, and he was a good dog. We sure miss him. wg
  15. I have a Millennium Custom Open Steel gun, pretty cool, but no photobucket to share the pic. It began life as a Bianchi gun, but took off the wings and the great big magwell. It is a 1" @50 yard gun. Derek builds them right, if you have the patience. WG
  16. I was going to amend my thoughts to "whichever you can reaquire fastest", but see you made a decision. I Agree with your choice. Now, remember, and unless I am reading your statement incorrectly, do not track your sights from target to target. Snap your eyes to your next target then bring the sights in line and refocus on your sights as necessary. You will follow your sights through the first shot of your pair on paper, but you will want to literally snap your eyes to your next target after you have called your second shot on your first target. Good luck. wg
  17. Wow, pretty soon the biggest division will be "Limited Minor"............Dang-it, guess I will have to start shooting "Open Minor" now. wg
  18. When asked the question "Do you prep the trigger on the poly guns the same way you do a 1911 SA trigger? Or is it more like a DA revolver, with a little more finger in the trigger and a constant pull?", this is what Dave said "I work either platform about the same. What kind of trigger pull I use depends on what Im engaging but for the most part I prep/reset most shots". WG
  19. Yea, that is what I was referring to. Sevigny would be a good one to ask that question. WG
  20. The polymer guns are a different beast. It is funny, I am very conscious about prepping the trigger with my 1911's, and I shoot my polymer guns pretty good too, but I am unsure about how I really prep the trigger or even if I am doing it in the best manner. Should we really try to shoot the polymer guns like a SA or should we try to shoot them more like a DA revolver, with a little more finger in the trigger and a constant trigger pull with no hesitation? On the original question, I find the geometry of the XD's make me do the same thing. Grip pressure is really a big deal for me. I do not have as much trouble with the Glocks as the XD's or the M&P's. I think this is because of the geometry of the grips vs the Glock. Pay attention and make sure to follow through, pin the trigger through the shot, watch the sights settle before you release the trigger. WG **Ha, I started my reply before you replied above. I am happy you figured it out. Have a great day.
  21. Ok, one month later, I am down 20 lbs., my % body and visceral fat is down and have not lost muscle. I am down about 7 inches (neck, arm, thigh, chest, waist, hips). WG
