  1. Gak...Imagine my envy...NOT... What KD said. The closest one is about 60 miles (Richland), the next is probably 80 (LaGrande). At least it only takes us about an hour to drive to Richland....I have taken an hour to get a mile on 520 or 405. WG
  2. Thanks for not rubbing it in.... I did end up finding a total of four rounds that were too big. I think for the cost, a $15 guage is a way better deal to use than a $200 KKM barrel.
  3. I have been envolved in gun games for many years. Each one is different, and requires its own set of skills. Often what works in one game does not work in another nearly as well. I have reloaded thousands of rounds for my cowboy guns. I never had an issue. Same went for my Trap and sporting clays guns. Yesterday at the local match, I learned about the "glock bulge". I also learned how to effectively clear a jam on a .40S&W 2011. When I bought my Dillon Conversion kit for my 550 from Brian he told me I needed a case guage. When I finally got around to loading for my .40 a year later I even tried the case guage on a few rounds but then thought to myself "heck, this is no good, I am loading long so what is the purpose" so after those first couple rounds I put it on the shelf and there it sat. Back to yesterday....I discovered the second way to find bulged cases...It may have only been three rounds that had a bulge, but that was one on three stages at about 10+ seconds each (one of which was a classifier). I guess my point is that it does not take very long to check your loads, and if you are not addressing the possibility of bulged cases other ways, and are using range brass for your reloads, then you might just consider using your case guage. Good Shooting, WG
  4. You are in a good area! I wish we had the clubs nearby that you have, but I would much rather live on my side of the mountains, anyway, welcome.
  5. You will never be able to shoot groups if you don't focus on the front sight, just patterns. When you are shooting groups, do not just focus on the front sight, focus on the top serration of the front sight. You will be amazed at your accuracy improvement.
  6. As a side note, spend the $30 on a mag guage from the USPSA store. It is a cheap investment when you consider what it could save you.
  7. 25 yards? Start at 6 (or 3), shoot groups and work your way out. Yes it is important to bag your gun but work but even bagged you have to have correct fundamentals. Shooting groups at close distance builds fundamentals and CONFIDENCE. You can work your way out from there. Do try some different ammo. Don't expect accuracy you read about on the internet and don't expect the same accuracy that some guys are getting with a $$$$$$ custom gun. I admit I have one of those custom guns, and there are guys that can shoot a lot better groups with my gun than I can shoot with my gun. Jessie Harrison-Abbate-Harrison-Duff was on TV on time and she said when they go to practice, they always started by shooting groups. Several other big time shooters will tell you the same thing. Good luck, have fun and don't get discouraged. WG
  8. Obviously you are not current. Ya got your judi chop, your karate chop and yer ninja chop, which is it?
  9. KD, went with the Android, if I don't like it, you will have to use your Karate skills next time I see you. wg
  10. Suggest to a woman bigger than I am to try a Bushmaster.
  11. I am a life member of SASS. Did very well at it, but am liking this game much more. SASSNET has lots of information. Also Cowboy Action City, lots of good people there. You may also be interested, depending on where you live, in "Western Three Gun". It is another version of the SASS game, but involves a little more action and more thought(IMHO), but I am not honestly sure if they are still running W3G matches. WG
  12. Which charge bar are you using? Maybe swap that. Not sure how bulky TG is. As stated, check the blue nut (on the press). Also, I would never rule out the scale either. I have a 5-0-5 and I have to rebalance it every time I use it. My cheesy little digital would weigh the same charge and assign it multiple weights. I am going to get a 10-10 or what ever the nicer RCBS is. Good Luck. WG
  13. I adjusted the aftec springs, cleaned and Mobile 1 and slide glide lubed, and that gun ate everything I fed it. I shot 180 rounds under match conditions (timer and a heckler) and not a single hiccup..... I did not knowingly do anything different with my thumbs..... Lets hope I can make it to and through a match one time. After I got the Swenson I just couldn't put it on there. My gun is just too pretty.... WG
  14. That is weird... I had one treatment, three needles, it released it enough that one time that the massage therapist just does touch up on occasion now. I had instant releif from the accupuncture...that's the pits for you. wg
  15. I totally agree with this! I had the shots, lasted about two weeks. Best thing I ever did was acupuncture one time, then massage. wg
  16. Wow, this really inspired me. I have not gained weight in many years, but I have not lost any either, and need to loose several inches. I have a couple friends that lost a lot of weight and really improved their blood work numbers on something called the "Ideal Protein" weight loss system. Ideal Protein It basically puts you into ketosis, so you loose the fat you need to loose, then helps retrain you how to eat and change your old eating habits. I am not convinced that it is the ultimate way to loose weight, but I am convinced that I do not want take the chances of developing all the health problems associated with being overweight. I signed up yesterday, and started today. I will be interested to see how I do. In the meantime, I am going to learn more about the paleo diet you are discussing. It sounds very interesting. I am also with bbbean's philosophy "track what I eat and cutting out the obvious offenders: High carbs and high sugars. I'm down 75+ lbs and wearing sizes I haven't worn since grad school (20+ years ago). That's worth more than a regular diet of Fettucine Chicken Alfredo or Papa John's Pizza." Right now, I just do not have the patience... I am 49 years old, it's harder to loose weight than it used to be. I have stopped chewing, over a month, cold turkey, and have not gained any weight, but am still fighting that demon, and figure I may as well go for broke. +1 on Dr. Mercola, Krill Oil, and CoQ10. Good luck, good job, and thanks for the inspiration. WG
  17. Mobile 1 ATF or Engine Oil, and what weight? Ps: It is known to cause cancer in California, stay out of California and you'll be alright.
  18. Would this be about the same as the photochrome clear rp's? wg not sure, havent tried the rudy version of that yet. the oakley iridium photochromic lenses i like alot for indoor or cloudy days but i still prefer vr28's to anything else if the suns out. It is basically a clear lense that turns a dark gray as it gets brighter. You do not notice they are dark at all untill you take them off and look at them. I had always shot in Oakley's and prefer the fit, so would like to go back to them, especially with Oakley's support of LEO/Fire?Military. WG
  19. Question/Dilemma. Sometimes when shooting my right hand thumb (strong hand) will rub the slide of my gun (2011 type). I also am having some chambering issues. I have ruled out extractor, chamber and ammo problems and am wondering if my thumb is slowing down the slide just enough. I like to keep my thumb on the safety when shooting my Limited gun. The inside of my right thumb will come into contact with the slide. I do not even realize it, I don't feel anything, never any scars or blisters/cuts ect.. I could be in need of a heavier or new recoil spring (now a 12.5 with maybe a couple thousand rounds and ten times that in dry fire cycles). I am also wondering if something like the Swenson Shielded safety would be a good thing. So, can your thumb touch the slide at all? Do you think dry fire cycles also wear the recoil spring enough and should be included in round count? Has anyone ever tried the Swenson shielded safety? I will try a new recoil spring before I fit one of those safetys. Opinions, please.... Thanks and have a great day. Gene
  20. Would this be about the same as the photochrome clear rp's? wg
  21. So do Oakley's do a photochrome clear that works well for shooting? Not sure if that's what I saw above or not. wg
  22. Good thing you had that spare rifle Pat, piston guys don't usually bring an extra.... I have an LWRC and love it, but I wouldn't mind a purpose built game gun, such as a JP. wg
  23. I think it depends on how you are going to use the gun. I use slide glide and really like it along with EWL 2000. Works great on competition guns, but I am not as likely to use grease (I will use Slide Glide Lite) on a carry gun. wg
  24. Very interesting, all gas guns... I Love my Piston AR's. WG
  25. I don't see how it is any different than a purple Glock. wg *** Re read your post and the rule cited. Interesting, that is the IPSC rule? It sounds like you are correct, and may have to re-blue or something... It will be interesting to find out.
