  1. DT-11 is back. It was repaired at no charge other than my shipping the gun to my dealer. They replaced the front stock and it looks great. I did a quick once over and took that thing out and shot some clays. I was amazed (no I had not shot it before hand). It is without a doubt the softest shooting 12 guage anything I have ever fired. Very nice. It feels great. I need to get a few thousand rounds through it and I'll be good to go. One thing, the Beretta case is crap. Just plan on getting a new one. I would never consider flying with this case. I am still grinning. This is just a joy to shoot. Take care, WG
  2. I am pretty sure I saw you, standing there, looking at a target or something. wg
  3. I actually think it got beat up in shipping somewhere. Possibly in transit to me, you never know. I just know I was ill. wg
  4. I have also heard good and bad about most all service departments. Leftnose, don't feel you are taking over the thread, I enjoy your replies. I ordered a DT11. I picked it up but was not able to do an inspection at the time. It turned out that the front stock had a big crack in it. Actually, multiple cracks, and so I promptly contacted the Beretta Premium Dealer that I purchased the gun from, and they told me to send the front stock back. We will see what they say.... Wish me luck! wg
  5. On a technical level, probably equivalent to a 680 series Beretta or Browning Citori. Personally, I would put them below the level of the two B-guns as they do not have the same track record. I'd buy a Beretta or Browning every day of the week before I bought a Guerini. Again, I'm not saying they're bad guns, but I'd rather have a known entity. I am thinking you are spot on. g
  6. No doubt on that. Up here everyone shot Ljutic's at trap.
  7. Caesar Guerini anyone? Thoughts or opinions please.
  8. Wow, busy day! I had shot trap several years, did very well. Got into Cowboy Action and sold my good gun (a Ljutic Dynatrap). I actually was Cowboy Trap Champion for the Northwest Regional CAS match one year (only year I entered it). I won that using my Win '97 that is cut down to 18.5" with a Modified tube in it. I guess one thing that tells me is that I would probably like a more "dynamic" gun. My Ljutic was smaller than the standard Mono gun, and the '97...well it was nothing like the Lefevre's everyone else was shooting. Thanks for all the thoughts. I did find a 682 Gold E Sporting to try out, and I am gonna go bug all the 5 Stand guys. I am thinking this would be that great reason to go to Italy...go try out a Perazzi! I may not end up with a custom gun, but I will head up to Polson MT with what ever I end up with for lessons and a stock fitting appointment with SSStocks. wg
  9. I do not care for ported guns. Does anyone really know what all the numbers mean for Perazzi's? MX 2000/3, MX 2000/8, MX2000S...It is all so confusing. I can't figure it out from the website. wg
  10. Eku and Jax, Kolar is not one that I really paid any attention to, but looks like a serious consideration. I like the position of the barrel selector. Thank you everyone, wg
  11. Does the paddle bug you? For the barrel selector? They seem like a very nice gun, then you see these guys that buy, shoot and sell them. This is way more confusing than the whole Glock, S&W, STi, Custom thing. wg
  12. I know what you mean. The Beretta 391/400's are very nice guns, but I am just not into the whole automatic thing. I have a 391 and like it, I shoot it well, but I just can not get into the same rythm that I can with a break action shotgun. It is more of an issue for me in 5 Stand than Sporting Clays. wg
  13. Some of the new stuff, such as the Blaser F3 Super Sport http://www.blaser-usa.com/F3-SuperSport.1098.0.html are really cool looking guns, but then I wonder about the Mid high rib and am curious if it can create more problems, especially with Sporting Clays. wg
  14. Simple, in Over/Under Shotguns for Sporting Clays, what is the gun to have? The one that when it all boils down to form and function, that one gun that is just hard to beat? I have been reading post after post, thread after thread, country after country and to me, it comes back to one. While it is not everyone's main gun, I find it interesting that the one shotgun that almost everyone says that you can not go wrong with is the Beretta 682 Gold E Sporting with 32" barrels. Interestingly, Beretta no longer makes them. What is anyone using and why? What would you get if given a choice? I am not gonna go dump 30k on a new clays gun, but am thinking about a good used or reasonably priced new gun. What is a good value for the money? WG
  15. very nice. they just had beretta factory's custom engraving shop on one of the tv shows. it was really cool. wg
  16. Ok, I am really enjoying my 391 Urika 2 Sporting. I have had no problems cleaning it. It is a joy to shoot.....So why the hell do I still want an O/U?
  17. I have had several brands of coolers. I just bought my first Yeti, and it is worth every peny. I have spent days on the river with other brand Marine coolers, and nothing comes close to the durability or the ability to keep stuff cold of the Yeti. wg
  18. I can not stress how stupid people can be. I called shops before I'd go check out shotguns, and several said they had the Sporting Clays Model...WRONG. Bring your smart phone or what ever so you can show them what you want. The Blue 400's, well to most guys it is either camo or blued, and you ask about the anodized blue receiver and they're like "sure, it's blue". Check the tags, do what ever you have to do. You will pick up a field model and they are totally different in feel etc., vs the clays model. good luck, wg
  19. LOOKS GREAT!!! It also looks like it is going to be a lot of fun to shoot. Enjoy, and congratulations on getting it in the timeframe given, cudos to Bob! wg
  20. Ok, someone just bought the 391..... I love it, no regrets. My son gets the Benelli, I am keeping the Beretta. I will let you know what I think about cleaning it when I get to that. Too busy bustin clays at the moment. wg
  21. Great and thanks. When I said "a lot of Trap" I was past tense. I had shot a lot of trap, so would probably be more suited to a gun that shot a bit higher than a field gun, and you address that question in the parallel stock question. It is as I thought it was, but really appreciate the confirmation. One of my biggest issues with any field gun that I pick up is that I will shoot them like my trap gun and so I am shooting below the bird (not covering it enough). I was curious if the parallel stock may help me with this. My biggest goal is to get one shotgun and know how to use it, not several that I have to remember how to use. Thanks again, wg
  22. Ok, great thread. I am curious on anyone's thoughts on the Standard Vs. the Parallel stock. I shot trap for several years, sold my Ljutic a few years back because all you could do is shoot trap with it and now just want more of a sporting clays/5 stand gun that I can shoot a few rounds of trap with, or take into the field but mainly use as a clays gun. I am thinking the A400 Xcel, Sporting, 30", just not sure which stock. I do think the KO is interesting, but that could go either way, more curious about the parallel vs standard and how it would effect someone that shot a lot of trap. My understanding is that the 391 action is not quite as good as the 400, and is being replaced by the 400. Such as the 390 being replaced by the 391, is this really the case or has anyone heard differently? My only other issue is making sure I get the Sporting Clays Model. I know with the 400, the action is blue, but I have driven to see a couple 391's that were the "sporting clays" guns, that turned out to be field guns. why is is so hard for guys that work at gunshops to know their product sometimes? Sporting, Field, Target and Clays can mean different things. Thank you, WG
  23. Great guns, I have two, but with your temperament I think you made the best choice. wg
