Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks, that sounds like you were running the same load he was with the 147. Interesting to see that Sevigny felt the need to go to a match fitted KKM for the Bianchi, and counters the mantra of many Glock users who say the OEM barrels are plenty accurate. I've struggled to get better than a 3.5 inch groups off hand with my G17 at 25yds, where as out of my 1911s or wheelguns I can shoot half that or tighter. From what I've seen gunsmith fitted Glock barrels deliver, and can be tuned to function reliably. It looks like Barsto however is the only barrel maker making gunsmith fit barrels for the Glock; KKM only offer drop-in's now apparently. None of the makers apart from SilencerCo, with their threaded barrels, offer 1-10 twist barrels for the Glock, obviously for the 147 and subsonic stability. Interestingly, KKM, Barsto and others only offer 1-16 in their threaded drop-in offerings so you have to wonder how good they are shooting 147s.
  2. Thanks, I'll see what I can do with the OEM barrel. Just curious, didn't Dave Sevigny eventually swap to a KKM gunsmith fitted barrel towards the end of his involvement with Glock?
  3. Thanks, it's just interesting to see that SilencerCo offer threaded Glock barrels in 1-10 twist. The 147 grain load I'm using runs at about 920 fps.
  4. I've heard conflicting reports about what the best twist rate is for stabilizing a 147 grain bullet. Does anyone know? Most of the aftermarket barrel makers offer match barrels in 1-16 twist, which seem ideal for 115-124 grain bullets, but not for the 147. I'm looking to run 147 grain bullets through my G17, as I find this weight provides the most manageable recoil. Thanks
  5. Vermont. Thank you, I contacted SJC and they confirmed they can do the work.
  6. I'm looking to have a match fit Barsto barrel installed in a G17. The install lead-time from Barsto is long and is even longer from Cylinder & Slide. I don't trust myself doing this job myself, so was wondering if anyone on the forum could recommend a competent Glocksmith? Many thanks
  7. Picked one of these up the other week. All is well except it won't fit my real G17 holster; the KCS is too large. Not sure what anyone else is using for the KSC clone. Many thanks.
  8. I'd like to have my slide fitted to my Glock Frame. Did you have any reliability issues? Did you see marked improvement in your accuracy? Thank s for your help. Jim

Apologies for not getting back to you. Yes I found my groups shrunk by about 2/3rds after JP's slide frame fit. I have had no reliability issues either.

  9. I`ve tried 1.120 OAL but 1.150 delivers the best accuracy out of my G17.
  10. Thanks, that's interesting I'm running 1.150 at the moment and will try 1.130.
  11. I need my comp bored on a lathe. I have been fighting sideways hole in targets for months. I can not see where they are hitting in the comp,so I removed the comp today and went to the range. 60 rounds in the paper all straight. Where can I send my barrel and comp for some help! Jim Milks Innovative Custom Gun, PA.
  12. I think I have seated bullets out as far a 1.155 and I'm still not touching the lands. I personally don't think one's going to see a massive accuracy difference with changes to bullet seating depth at the distances handgunners typically shoot at, especially with a Glock. But I could be wrong.
