I would think their 6 inch would make a little more speed than your 5 inch. The data I could find showed 775 which would be good if through a 6 inch but very close at 760.

You might check with Warren at Protocall Design, in the Vendors tent. They make some custom S&W sights. Warren is at the Bianchi Cup this week so will not respond for a while

I read somewhere else on this forum that someone had bought some used 40 cal mags from CDNN I think and they were using them with their 9mm I dont know if it would work or not.

I have loaded a lot of Fiocchi brass for practice ammo. I do not keep count of number of times reloaded but have not had any issues as of yet

I had a red dot put on mine now. Have not shot it much lately but still fun to take out once in a while

You might check the rear sight to see if is marked Behlert. I had Austin build me a bowling pin gun in 79 has the same type comp with a 2 piece guide rod. Had Swenson safety and slide release with about 1.75 lbs trigger with grip safety pined. Cost about 1500 back then

I would say to get any of the higher end 1911 and shoot it a lot and learn to maintain it my 1950's national match had over 30,000 on first bbl. Gun finally gave up after over 100,000. I now have Kimbers and Colts both good guns.

It took me almost 8 weeks for my 550 but I was not in a hurry as it will be my scound 550 setting it up for Large primer the other for small.

I like the L frame over the N frame for competition, I have shot several deer and hogs with a 686 I prefer the 4 inch barrel.

I use a 002 also, you don't need the ELS system I have a gilmore belt that I use. I had to put a block of wood in the holster and leave it lay out in the sun for a week. I shoot a K frame Smith with 6 inch bull barrel with a tasco red dot on top

I was able to find a mechanic's tear down bench from the local Freightliner shop. 6ft long weighs 250 pounds all steel very sturdy

I have been using Mobil 1 for years. As for cleaning if the gun is real dirty I will strip it down and put it in the table top Parts cleaner full of mineral spirits overnight use an air hose to finish up next day clean as a whistle

I carried a model 28 for several years. Used a breakfront holster. Always amazed other officers how fast it was brought into play.I like my autos but I still own more wheel guns than autos

I am thinking of dragging out an old k frame open gun to shoot the local matches this summer. May even make it up to Kansas City some weekend if things work out. Can't shoot the cup this year not enough vacation and may not have enough seniority to get that week off later.

I have a Kimber Stainless that I have 500 rounds through CheckMate mags have been working fine 115gr at 1100fps

I have been practicing going prone for this year. I can get down sort of ok but I am not able to get up with out something for support. Dr want to do my knee replacement but I have been told that after the replacment I will not be able to get up with out support.

K&L frame will fit the same holster if it grips around the cylinder. I have an old safarliand K Frame comp holster that the L frame guns with the full length lug will not fit but a K frame will fit in the L frame holsters

I get my Zero bullets from Roze retail side They usually show out of stock but i order the 25k amounts and they charge my card as they ship them. I always try to order far enough ahead that I dont get into a tight crunch.I orderd before christmas when I got ny bonus check and have 20k already on the shelf.

I have very good luck with 185gr JHP from Zero Bullet loading with 231 powder about 900fps dont rember the load data at this time but shoot under 1 inch at 25 yards from my S&W945
