Extended mag release limited to .20 inches from lowest part of frame. No oversized buttons on mag release. Extended slide release legal.

I am new to IDPA and have been using my S&W 945 in CDP. At the last match another shooter told me that my gun was not legal in IDPA. He said my mag release was oversized and to long. I checked the rules and the only measurement I could find was .2 inches tall no measurements as to diameter of button. This gun is as it came from Smith. The button is larger than the shaft of the release but nowhere as large as the button on my old Behlert open gun. I asked o. Idpa form with no real clear answer. I called the MD at the local matches he didn't realize it was not a true 1911.

Opinion on Bayou Bullets vs Xtreme bullets
gunnut315 replied to leewongfei's topic in 9mm/38 Caliber
I have not used Xtreme bullets but really like the Bayou. I have great results from the 115 and 147. I have not tried the 124 yet. I shoot indoors with 231 powder and have no problems with smoke. -
What do you do for a living?
gunnut315 replied to J-Ho's topic in Miscellaneous Topics That Do Not Fit in Any Other Forum
Haz-Mat truck driver delivering all that fracking fluids so you can have cheap gas to make it to matches -
It take to much time away from shooting or reloading for more shooting. I use slide guide from Brian great stuff. Last time I cleaned my pro was about 5k ago. No problems

I just got my Cylinder back from BossHoss he does great work and very fast turn around.

Unless you have a tall bench get the strong mount. It will get the press up closer to a good work height. Room and Light are your friends when loading.

Jayhkr If you are from Kansas I may be able to help you find supplies locally just let me know. I live near Kingman Ks

Primed brass that I have received was shipped same as live ammo.

I reloaded on a SD for several years. I bought a 550 thinking I was going to reload rifle. I never did reload rifle but have added a scound 550 one for large primers and one for small

When you assemble or disassemble it you need to grip the frame to engage the grip safety and everything should slide together nice and easy.

Then you get the people on the other forums who think that a gun with more than a few hundred rounds has been abused. I was called all kind of names on a local forum for answering a young shooter that cleaning a gun after every trip to the range was good but not always needed. I was informed that if you didn't clean it every time it would fail when you most needed it.

7 x 57 on a Dillon Super 1050 ?
gunnut315 replied to Hammer1's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I don't think you can get the 1050 for any rifle cartridge except 308 and 223 -
My first Dillon was the Square Deal liked it a lot used a friends 650 and it was nice but when I used the 550 I knew I had found the one for me. I have 2 550's set up one each for large and small primer. If I ever start shooting more than a few thousand rounds a year I will go with a 650 or 1050.

My first red dot was a Tasco on the grip mount. I had it on an open gun that Austin Behlert built for pin shooting, I had the red dot mount changed a few years ago as I thought about using this gun for open AP but never got around to trying it out.

I have never used lube with a carbide die. On Christmas Eve I was loading some 9mm for my son in law when a case stuck and when I used a little force to remove it the carbide ring came out of the die. I am waiting for my new die to come from Dillon at this time. I will lube in the future.I had run about 8K through the die was the first stuck case.

Yes, I don't understand why people prefer certain brands of primers. Of course, I don't do any long range precision shooting, and focus more on the IDPA and 2-gun world, so as long as the primer ignites the powder, I don't care where it came from. I have to use Federal in my revolvers or I only get sporadic ignition.
