  1. Yes indeed, a very nice piece!
  2. Wet dream load? HA! My custom hand loaded ammunition does not excite me THAT much!
  3. I start every match with a clean gun. It is no big deal to remove my slide racker. Round count can vary quite a bit, depending on the amount of live fire practice . . . 200 ~ 500 rounds I suppose. As far as lubrication, oil in temps below 40* and Slide Glide in warm weather. As for the bore, I run a nylon brush through a couple times and do a visual inspection. That's it.
  4. If you do a search, you will find 40 S&W load data going back years!
  5. I have always had my slide racker on the left side. I can not imagine why a person would want to reach over their gun to rack the slide. Am I missing something?
  6. Welcome to the forums! Where you located?
  7. I am currently using the 135 grain Rainier plated bullet, on top of 8 grains of Auto Comp . . . 169 PF. This load is still producing too much gas, with the extra following the bullet out of the comp. I will try to refine my open load next winter.
  8. The goal is, to have your weak hand index finger tip touching the tip of the first bullet. Of course, on large capacity magazines, your index finger will simply lay along the forward surface of the magazine, and point towards the mag well . . . aka pointing the magazine into the mag well. Now, back track your magazine to the mag holder. I think you will find, like most of us, you want the bullets pointing forward. In the case of mag pouches on your belt across you belly, the bullets will point to the right.
  9. Just registered, and hope I am able to show up this time. Friday I cancelled out of yesterday's match, due to gremlins in my lungs and sinuses.
  10. Welcome to the forums! And, thank you for your military and law enforcement coaching
  11. It takes an awfully lot of practice, doesn't it! I spent two years reaching a 9/10 second draw. I can still do it, at 67, with weekly drills. The key to fast reloads is looking that mag into the well each and every time. It I let my focus slip, even a tiny bit, I'll miss it. This one I never did get real good at . . . 1.2 seconds.
  12. Welcome to the forums, from the great state of Ohio!
  13. Rayners Range monthly USPSA match, this Sunday March 20, 2016. The side match this month is combat rifle. http://www.raynersrange.com
  14. I am 67 but, have the reaction time of someone younger . . . like 62 I have noticed, especially over the last two years, that I have REALLY slowed down. I still have a 9/10 second dry fire draw but, I am very slow working through a match stage. Getting old SUCKS!
  15. Welcome to the forums! Rolling your own is a hobby in, and of, itself . . . I love it. Taking on the challenge of developing a long range rifle cartridge is especially rewarding.
  16. I got a bag full of Winchester 40 S&W brass, last summer, from a police department's indoor range. Every one of them had crimped primers. There are still in that bag, around here somewhere.
  17. Hey, welcome to the forums!
  18. Hey, I resemble those remarks! Here is a lollipop! Get back on your tricycle and shut up.
  19. I can not, and will not attempt. I totally avoid watching such crap.
  20. On straight wall pistol caliber brass; Tumble, inspect each and every one, put them in your storage container, put them in the case feeder as needed and load. It's just that simple, with a progressive press. I, personally, do another visual inspection after they are loaded, and while gauging. Sometimes one will crack during the loading process. Done!
  21. Don't give your conscious mind things like that to do. Keep it simple, keep it clear. You must learn to let your subconscious mind do the work.
