  1. Hope he sold it cheap since the stock was loose!
  2. I have and love the spectre also. Any baffle shot with a .22 is a pita to clean. With the spectre you can clean each baffle individually. A stiff brush and some elbow grease is all that's needed. There is also the "dip". 50/50 solution of hydrogen peroxide and vinegar. However, when used on lead this liquifies the lead and creates lead acetate. A hazardous waste that can be absorbed into the skin. Use appropriate safety measures and disposal procedures. Do not use it on aluminum. The sparrow is a great can too and easy to take apart. Can't go wrong with either.
  3. That's it. The spacer is on the left. The tapered end goes into the flat washer and then the nut goes on. Is your stock loose??
  4. One of my favorite features on the VM that is not on the sportsman is the padded cheek piece. It makes a huge difference in feel for me vs. my SLP and it aids you in keeping your head solid on the stock. I like the overmolding but could live without it, the cheek piece is another story.
  5. I'd like to go ahead and buy plane tickets...it would be nice to have an official invite to confirm the itinerary. We're only two months out.
  6. I did the same thing and shot all Tac ops. I think it's reasonable to require semi-pro to shoot tac ops as a standard. If you are serious about making the cutoff at the qualifier match, it seems you would want a first hand look at how you stack up against those in your division to avoid a disapointment in Florida. That was my rationalization anyway. I figure if I can make the top 17 out of all the semi-pros, I have a good shot at the top 16 at the qualifier. Although, there are some fantastic shooters vying for those 16 spots. Either way, 2013 will be a fun year! Maybe they scheduled two of the Pro matches on weekends with big matches so those who don't make it in Florida would have something to do!
  7. Loving my VM. I shot my SLP in a match a few weeks ago, just to knock the dust off. Damn that thing kicks compared to the VM!
  8. 24 grains of Reloder 15 gets me about 2660 fps. It's a fantastic load in my rifles.
  9. Was that a Vortex on stage 3 at BRM? I could see the target so clear at 420ish yards that you could see the holes in the plastic on the flasher.
  10. It's a procedural if the safety was off, but grip safety was functional with a loaded gun. Stage DQ if not.
  11. When I bought my 650 I considered selling my 550, but I opted to set it up for large primers and save that for the calibers that I don't load as often.
  12. I don't have my data in front of me, but I want to say I was at major with 4.6 grains and a 180 bullet at around 1.180 oal.
  13. I'm past the 6k mark on this gun and my rear sight almost came apart on me. I haven't got a call back from STI yet, but I THINK I have is screwed back together and I put a drop of loctite on it. It got me thinking, what parts should I have on hand? I'm planning an order for mag springs and a recoil spring. What else? Any need to change the sear spring?
  14. I'm good with that, although my grip safety is pinned. With that said, I've never seen or heard of a gun discharging without the trigger being depressed, and a grip safety prevents that from happening should the trigger bump something on a table, bucket, etc.
  15. I can agree with that. I would add for the OP that next year all (4) of the Pro matches will be 3GN Pro only events. I would assume that the semi-pro series would continue in the outlaw matches to make a group eligible for the 2014 qualifier.
  16. Ok, I'm curious to hear about the tires. What was that all about? I might try to come out for this one next year.
  17. Chad said St. Augustine, Fl sometime in February. I'm already looking at airfare and planning on bringing the family. Congrats to everyone who made it. It's going to be a real challenge to make it with the quality of shooters on the list.
  18. I'll likely be flying to one or more matches next year. Any advice on how to avoid being raped by the airlines? Any particular carrier to avoid? I like the idea of using a soft case inside a hard case so I'll have something to carry them at the match. If I do that, then it looks like I may need a larger hard case, which in turn may trigger the extra baggage fees. Not looking forward to it, but I don't want to drive 20 hours either! Can you put the ammo in the same checked case as your firearms?
  19. I only use 4 grains and I don't think it's that dirty.

  21. I'm around 2k now since June. Simply put, this gun runs. I'm not interested in changing that by welding the carrier. I have however, smoothed and polished all the edges and that includes the slot. This thing comes out of the box with some sharp corners.
