  1. Big Bore, the notches are between the roll pin and the "catch" side. They are half moon shaped, one on top and one on bottom opposing each other.
  2. I did what Pat said. I used a small diameter chainsaw file. It opened them up perfectly. Gcoller, you can definitely clip a few coils off that factory magazine tube spring too. It's the devil!
  3. I've had mine for a couple weeks now. I opened and extended the load port and tuned the shell catch to make loading easier. It loads like I'm shoving sticks of butter in it now. Some people will swear you need the carrier welded. That really depends on how you load. Sometimes the welded carrier will cause feeding issues. I also took the sharp edges off the slot in the carrier and the tips of the forks. When I get a chance i'll post a picture. I also found the mid-bead too large for my taste, so I removed it. Eta- If you have never shot a match before, I would recommend you shoot it for a while first and see what mods will benefit YOU the most before you alter the gun too much. The gun is highly adjustable for fit, so you might want to get someone to help you adjust it, unless you already know how.
  4. 75'S for beyond 200 and 55's for closer. The zero's are really close and I know where both rounds hit out to 500.
  5. Who cut your barrel? I looked into it and was told it couldn't be done due to some reason I don't fully comprehend because I'm not a gunsmith. So I bought the tactical instead. Does yours still use pro bore chokes?
  6. You didn't say what gun you are shooting. I've put thousands through my SLP. All I've ever done is run a bore snake through it a few times. Not that it needed it, I just felt like I should be doing something. I shot a few hundred at the high plains match in 100 degree temps and it still looks fine. Eta- I just checked my versa max. I've only got 75 rounds through it and there is a big ring of fouling about half way down the barrel. That was a mixture of federal target loads, slugs, some bucksot, and a couple 3" magnums. So much for not cleaning.
  7. You might try it without the clamp. Mine grouped 6" right and 5" low. I took the clamp off and now it just shoots 6" right. Which I am highly annoyed with. It sure is soft shooting though.
  8. I just got a versa max and mine is extremely tight. I'd like to hear the fix.
  9. Anything new to report on the Versa Max tactical? I'm waiting for mine to ship. Any problems with the welded lifter?
  10. I shoot 2-300 rounds in an hour or two on a weekly basis. Keep it well lubed and you're fine. I've gone through 80 rounds (4 mags) as fast as I could reload and pull the trigger with no problems, but it was HOT! That was within the first 1000 rounds through the gun. I'm over 6k through it now and it's still a tackdriver. STI Edge
  11. What a great match. I really feel more confident with my shotgun skills after focusing attention on it for an entire match. I did not expect a top ten finish. Thanks to everyone and their hard work that made it happen. I know this gets said a lot, but the ro's were some of the best I've ever seen. Not surprising considering who they were. So, the natural curiosity in human nature has gotten the better of me and I have to ask. Why is it the last year? I was already looking forward to rifle next year!
  12. Can someone post the limited scores? I can't open these on my phone.
  13. Trapr, I sent my app the end of May. Check hasn't cleared the bank yet. (I swear there's money in there!) Am I in? I know another shooter interested but he won't know until later this week, do you still have slots? Thanks.
  14. AP Customs is the same as Loki but a little cheaper. I like the 15".
  15. I never had problems with the standard mags. The black dog website has them for $10 right now!
  16. I've sent three emails to Linda with no reply. Maybe it's got a spam blocker? Is there someone else I can contact about a registration issue?
  17. As the other guys in this post have said, you need to play with it. Make sure you chrono your ammo and use a good ball-calculator to match the reticle the best way. I have my zero at 170yds. That gives me the best all around match for my Ballistic CQ reticle. A good calculator for smart phones is Strelok. It has a picture of your reticle and where you hold will need to be for the distance input. It also uses temp, baro-pressure, wind, and other variables to make the shot as accurate as possible. And as you prob know, the targets are rarely ever at 200, 300, and 400 yds. They are usually mixed at odd ranges. Thats where the Strelok comes into play very nicely. That's almost exactly what I've found. I zero my 75's at 175 with the center dot and they are very close at the longer ranges. I also use the Strelok calculator which reinforced what I had already verified on paper. The really cool feature is how it shows the wind hold with your reticle.
  18. I got to fondle the ffp and sfp scopes today. The ffp reticle looks tiny at 1x which I don't like so I focused more on the other one. The illumination was good if that's your thing. I should say I never use illumination so my opinion may not mean much. I liked the clarity of the glass a lot. The extra magnification was cool, I'd love to shoot this thing. I doubt I'll buy one partly because of the unforgiving eye relief. Maybe I would feel differently if I checked one out mounted on a gun. The price at the Bushnell factory outlet was $1000 with a special discount. $1400 otherwise.
  19. You didn't shoot the Midwest 3gun match this year did you?
  20. Are you shooting the same ammo as before?
