  1. i get ftf when I drag my thumb on the slide. I can't tell when I do it unless I have an issue. After a match, I can see where my thumb was riding on the slide, chalk lines from grip gel.
  2. This combination has a soft recoil. Federal small pistol primers show pressure signs.
  3. it looks like the brass may have been fired slightly out if battery.
  4. Same for both. Some times good deals come up and that is used for practice (super cheap group buys on random projectiles or what ever). Anything that doesn't pass the plunk test is practice ammo. I don't want a different recoil or point of aim.
  5. The chambers should be dimensionally the same. As such, the chamber pressure should be the same. A quick burning powder might have a slower muzzle velocity in a longer barrel (more friction in a longer barrel). A slower burning powder might have a faster velocity in a longer barrel (the pressure can push for a greater length of time in the longer barrel). As always, there are many factors that contribute to muzzle velocity.
  6. DLC finish on the barrel. Several thousand rounds down range. The only wear, in the finish, is on the hood.
  7. I use both n310 and n320. 180gr jhp, 1.185. 4.5gr n310 or 5.0 n320. I think they feel about the same. N310 is easier to get. They both burn clean and are very accurate.
  8. I haven't noticed target hole size difference. Hollow points seem to punch a slightly larger hole than round nose and tc. In a perfect world it shouldn't matter. Some ROs don't use their over lays frequently enough. However, bigger holes are usually better.
  9. Bell the case more. Make small adjustments. Too much belling will reduce case life.
  10. What is you over all length? Maybe the cartridge is ever so slightly too long.
  11. I like 147's for production. I have had problems with tumbling xtreme bullets. I adjusted the col and crimp with out luck. Get a small quantity and see if your gun like them.
  12. I roll size all of my .40 brass. In addition to sizing the brass, it is easier to catch brass with bad rims. I think it also makes resizing slightly easier in the press. When I chamber check for major matches, the ones that don't pass go off in practice without issues. I had issues with "glocked" brass. It is a non-issue now.
  13. Mid Carolina, in Columbia SC, has a toys for tots charity match in the fall. It is a very good match. It fills up every year.
  14. What do you use at indoor ranges?
  15. A bag of 100 will hopefully be a live time supply.
  16. I broke the one on the case transfer bar. I was looking on mc master. I wanted to make sure nylon was the correct mate rail type.
  17. I finally broke one of the plastic screws. Are these screws nylon or glass-filled nylon?
  18. I currently have a 1050 drive on my case pro. I haven't decided if I like it. It runs very slow and get hot very fast. It jams fairly regularly. I have it set up next to my press so I can baby sit while I load. tightening the clutch enough to run 100% of the cases is enough to be problematic on a jam situation. I bolted my setup together on a thin sheet of plywood. The plywood flexes until I can stop it to clear the jam. Most of my jams are stray 10mm cases. It is nice to load and roll size at the same time.
  19. I have/had the same problem with Tripp 10mm mags in my 40 SS gun. I had to play around with mag springs, feed lips and followers. Happens almost always when I fire four or less before reloading. More than four rounds fired and they drop just fine.

  21. I use SP, SPM and SR primers in my major loads. SP for minor loads.
  22. Dillion media separator. I spin them around for about a minute. I wait a few minutes and spin them again. I move the cases, by hand, to a towel for drying. Once dry, I move the to a box for storage, by hand. Moving by hand agitates the cases and allows more of the pins to fall out of the cases. Dumping from one location to the next allows lose pins to fall back into cases. I find the the pins fall more freely when the cases are dry.
  23. I'll be flying into Houston on the 17th. I'll be there at least a week but possibly longer. Are there any matches worth attending?
  24. I order some last week and they arrived this week.
  25. Dillon media separator. It gets 99% of the pins out, while still wet. The rest fall out when dry.
