Can someone recommend what glass bead size to use to touch up a Stainless Steel colt slide on the top round section. Its got holster wear and the top is getting shiny, I just want to put it back to the dull finish it came with.

2011s are more square than 1911s. 1911s are oval in shape and carry flatter, even though the dimensions on paper are nearly identical.

200 grain lead SWC and 3.5 grains of bullseye will shoot clover leaf size groups at 25 yards if your pistol is up to the task. I have no experience with a 155 though.

I have Springfields and a DW SS40. The slide seems soft on the DW the slide stop hold open notch always gets peening and I have to file down the extra metal that squeezes out the side of the notch. It eventually may not lock back. No problems with the Springfields.

No. A cartridge head spaces on the case mouth the 40 is too short so the extractor will be the only thing holding it in place. It will work for a couple shots but the extractor should blow off.

Not true for mine. I have a Shadow and a Small frame stock II and the grips are completely different and not interchangeable. The CZ mag wont lock into the stock II but the stock II mag will lock into the CZ. All are factory Mags. "the small frame pistols are very similar dimensionally to CZ75s (grips/mags can interchange)"

The 4.5 has the same sight radius of a 5 inch 1911. I dont hear much complaining about that being too short.

The trigger on my 40 pro is horrible. 6.5 lbs on my Lyman trigger gauge. I would hate to see the pull weight on a non pro.

I hesitate to post this because everyone knows Clays in a .40 is just crazy talk and will make you sterile. In my 6 In I use, 4.0 gr of Clays with a 165 BBI bullet at 1.18 oal. 170Pf.

Condition 2 used to be real popular. Nobody used to want a cocked gun pointed at themselves safety or not. In condition 2 on an Series 70 colt the gun will only AD if dropped muzzle first, and then only on concrete. The Detonics combat masters were made with a notch on the back of slide for thumb cocking at request of a Federal Agency. I personally know people who carried condition 2 for their entire 30+ year careers without any ADs.

Thats a rare gun. Dont butcher it into a SS project. Plenty of plain jane .40s to be customized.

Crockett carried a Bren Ten and a Detonics Combatmaster later seasons he had a Smith 645 and the same Detonics Combat master. None were pimped out. I wish I had that Bren Ten, heck I wish had any Bren Ten. Oh yea and mags to go with it. Totally pimped. Its like something Sonny Crocket would carry.

It looks like they were fired without recoil springs. I have never seen a recoil spring plug look like that. If you look at the crack its where the front of the frame hits the slide it should never touch if the recoil spring was in it. So many people on this forum shoot 10 pound springs and never see that happen even in 100k rounds. Since no explanation is offered with those pics I think it was a deliberate shoot to destruction test without a recoil spring. If it went 12k without a recoil spring then broke that's awesome durability.
