  1. I have one of my 1050s set up to just load 223. I do everything normal as far as dies (Dillon Carbide resize, Redding Comp seat die) and that stuff goes. Cept for the last die station. I use a Redding body die to make sure I bump the shoulder just in case I didnt fully resize it at station 1. I dont use a powder checker as I can look in the case when the toolhead is lowered. I use Varget and it comes about 1/2 - 2/3 up the neck. I trim fired cases on a Giruad trimmer. I am too lazy and too short on time to do it any other way. One shot is just about mandatory. Tumble your ammo in corncob for a minute or two to get it off. Good luck to you.
  2. Have John open up the breechface and build a 40 Limited gun. Easy.
  3. Put them in a big trash can, add some dawn dishwashing soap, and spray off with a high pressure tip hose. Stir with a 2x4, drain and rinse. Better than the bathtub or washing machine bit. Be sure to completely air dry them in the sun. The back lawn and an old blanket work well. Tumblers with corncob media tend to remove the "slipperyness" of AA and STS hulls.
  4. That blows. MOR goes from a bigtime story in Front Sight, to nothing in just over a year.
  5. Score them as disappearing targets and they are just about worthless. Score them as penalty misses and you change the game.
  6. David Tubb still uses moly and a lot of benchrest shooters use moly. Cant hurt, might help...
  7. I am using moly bullets that I coat myself. Once you start using moly, stick with it. Dont switch back and forth. I clean with Kroil and some JB/Sweets once in a while. I havent heard of moly killing match barrels.
  8. You have been hanging out with Ted Nugent too much.
  9. I hope your PH had a pair of 400gn solids ready... Too cool man. I lived in Africa (Sudan & Tanzania) for a short while. Cant wait to retire and move there.
  10. The Creedmore mat is excellent. I know of a lot of hard core High Power guys that spray sticky goo on their elbows and glove to make sure things dont slip. For just something to keep your clothes clean, the Dillon mat is hard to beat.
  11. When I am pushing hard, like getting ready for a big match, my dry fire goes to 20-40 minutes every other day. The other days its 200-250 rounds of live fire. When just plugging along the off months, its maybe one day a week of live fire and a monthly match. As others have said, matches are not practice. They are just practice dealing with self imposed stress and using what you have learned. M Limited GM Production
  12. I just got my M-1 back and its runs 100% with everything I could dig up from 3 dram and up. Low recoil buck and slug runs through it like shit through a goose. Highly recommended.
  13. Other than my 1050, best money I have spent in a while.
  14. I cant find any data for anything under 1 1/8 loads. If you were to use them, you might have to resort to card stock under the shot. PITFA. If its just the Windjammer style you like, the 4100 is for 7/8-1 oz.
  15. There is no difference between the grey and red. Winchester just colors them different so the different games can keep them sorted out. Someone told me the AA International hulls are the best for reloading. I was never able to tell any difference. As far as looks go, I liked the old silver ones and the Gold Remington nitros.
  16. I made Master in Revo quite a while back, by default. L2598. Right now I am caught in the first four classifier perchantage hell. Why on earth a 32% and a 45% count, and others in the 70's and 80's dont count is completely beyond me. I called Sedro and in a nutshell they told me to pound sand. Thats ok though. I will just keep plugging along as soon as my knee is back and Uncle Sam give me a little more time home. Like Ron says, it doesent matter what it says on your card. I wish there was more revo shooters out here in Colorado. I get tired of being a one man freak show.
  17. Many congrats. If she needs to be shown around Colorado Springs or just needs to borrow a car for a day, ect... have her get in touch with me. I used to shoot smallbore and air pistol out there a lot, but Uncle Sam has been cutting into my free time lately.
  18. I have been the MD for the past couple Colorado State USPSA Matches and Mile High Showdowns. The first thing I did was kill the prize table. The crap that was thrown my was huge, but people still showed up. We lowered the entry fee and still had lots of money to put into new props and nice plaques. I hope prize tables never come back to Colorado and I feel that they are worthless. Sure I get some good stuff off them, but if I really want it that bad I can just buy it.

    Skeet!

Chris was kind enough to let me shoot a fast round of doubles after we were done. Hip shot several, just because. Batting 500 there. Chris and his 1100 Competition Master got some stares from some of the grumpy old men that dont like us kids, but *that* is a thread for the hate forum. Its always nice to have a good student that is willing to learn and remember that having fun is the goal. As soon as Chris got the idea of really leading and following through, he started breaking them hard. Neal, as soon as I go 100 straight low gun, I will have to order a 410 tube set from Briley. Low gun with a 410, doesnt seem like it can get much harder. I got Lizard and JJ shooting skeet like mad men, maybe Chris is next. Stuart, what are you doing this Thursday at 3:00? Gonna join Chris and I out at the base?
  20. Practicing loading the shotgun will save you the most time in the long run. Its easy to practice in the garage and does not need a lot of room.
  21. I am using a Tubb in 6XC. I also have a Remington 700 in 6x284 in an AICS Stock. The Tubb reloads a lot faster and easier. The 6x284 just slays coyotes and foxes now. We shoot MOR side matches every month with MGM Flash Targets out to 425. We usually have four to five shots from five to six different posistions. Not all of them prone. Usually a barricade and a two foot tall wall or two to shoot over. I am lucky enough to shoot with Cheryl Current and Eddie Rhodes most months. I stuck a brake on my Tubb. Takes the minimal recoil of the 6XC down to just about nothing. The rifle itself is a tank when you add a scope. I lightened the barrel contour down a pound. That helped quite a bit with offhand. When this barrel goes, I am going to replace it with a #3 contour Lilja. I have a Nightforce 5.5-22 on top with Leupold PRW rings. At 12 power I have it sighted dead on at 400 yards. One hash mark up from the crosshair is dead on at 200. For 300 I just hold a less than halfway between the two. I also have ranges marked the elevation turret out to 800 if I need to shoot something at a range that I dont feel comfortable with hold overs/unders. I start with 10 round mags and try to reload into 20 round mags. All of the 20's needed to be worked a bit to ensure they dropped free. The 10's drop free no problem. I am somewhat rough on my equipment (borderline clumsy) and havent had a bit of an issue with the trigger. They may look delicate because you can see all the parts, but they are plenty strong. I have a couple hard kicking silhouette pistols that have them and they are still going strong.
