Open was won by Pueblo Colorado Police Dept's Gene Ragulsky, Limited went to Taran Butler of SV and Kelly of DSA fame won the whole deal and Iron Man. Eddie Rhodes, also a Pueblo Colorado Cop, was second Iron Man. Thats all I can remember. My memory is perfect, just short.

The match went well despite me being the dumbass RO that missed the no-shoot and and called a hit on a flash target leading to a reshoot. I blame the previous days set-up in the heat and society for my errors. I did not see many people at all have any problems hot holstering. Not even a single person blinked at the thought either. I was amazed to see the variety of guns. Everything from STI high caps to Glock 19's. I was even more amazed to see the difficulty some had with 200 yard steel. Mike Dowd has been shooting better lately than I have ever seen him shoot. Pretty good for a national level PPC shooter. Next year we should have an egg shoot side match for the snipers in the crowd. If you think it was hot Saturday, it was even hotter for Sundays IPSC match. More record highs. Great.... Our new shipment of steel showed up Sunday also. Two weeks late, but at least it there now. It was great to meet you Kelly. Congrats on a job well done.

Not happy with the rifle or themselves? I know Eddie and I put a lot of ammo downrange through ours getting ready. I ended up not going because Uncle Sam wanted me elsewhere. I am very happy with my Tubb in 6XC.

All matches in Pueblo that are run by Pueblo Practical 3-Gunners (the IPSC club) are run under all current USPSA rules. This includes shotgun mag capacity. Once or twice a year Rocky Mountain 3-Gun runs a match at my range as they cant get enough match days in Aurora. This may have been why you were limited to seven rounds. Kurt? At our last local match we had six stages and 97 shooters. Thats 582 scoresheets for our stats guy to go through. Our stats guy is a shooter and he had the results emailed out that night by 9:30. Most all clubs in Colorado have the results out before you go to bed. No clubs in Eastern Colorado have a non shooter doing stats at the range so they get emailed out. Not sure about Western Colorado. I tried to score the match at the match after shooting through and four hours of setup. Not something I am willing to do again. I like hanging out with the guys bullshitting and telling lies, not shooting through and hacking away at a keyboard while others are shooting.

I run the 3-Gun matches in Pueblo, which is just south of Colorado Springs. We run three shotgun stages and three rifle stages. Not often do we have any pure pistol stages. Next month is three to four combo stages and two pure rifle stages. The shotgun stages average about 25-30 rounds and some buck and slug is required. We set-up one short range rifle stage and two longer range rifle stages. Long as in one between 100-200 yards and a side match stage from 300-450. We score the 300-450 as a side match as some have not shot an AR past 50 yards. It takes 21 flash targets to run the long range stuff, but its easier than scoring and taping paper. We are also putting on the first Colorado LE 3-Gun Championship in July. Blaine and Kurt are running the show. That weekend I will just be the puke that owns the props with the strong back and weak mind. The Mile High Showdown in August will have a manual operated rifle side match. I have turned in a few A scores but nothing even close to GM. Add to that I cant reload for squat. I have found I have to back off a half notch as there is no room for error. Shank a D or a miss and you have a standing reload.

First try, 57 times. Second try 10 minutes later, 61 times. Third try after only a minute or two, 46 times. Must be getting tired. All of the above with factory rebound springs, 5.25 pound trigger pulls, a 625, 627 and a 686. Bill Drills I cant get under a 20 split average. In a match I can average 18-22 splits inside of 10 yards and still get solid A's shooting major. Switching to minor I can get an occasional 14-16 split, averaging 17-20 splits. 12 yard plate racks I also speed up as I go. 21 splits at first, down to 17 splits at the end. Although with a revo I shoot plate racks right to left. This weekend while prone on 99-09 long range standards, I averaged .20 splits at 40 yards, down 7 points in 12 shots. Felt good about that. Still do actually. Hacking off the single action sear surface helped a bit by getting the hammer to fall sooner in the pull process. It didnt really cut any time off, but it made my splits more consistent and I was able to swing through targets a little more aggressively. Or so I like to tell myself...

I am happy to announce that this Labor Day (29-31 Aug) weekend, that nutty bunch in Southern Colorado will host the Mile High Showdown. Keeping with the Mile High of days gone by, there will be nothing but kick butt running and gunning field courses and no shooting boxes. If you can see a target, you can shoot it. Expect a lot of steel and movers. 9 stages plus a chrono. The same chrono and chrono dude you will see at the Nationals. It will be a USPSA Tournament level match. Plaques only. There will also be a Manually Operated Rifle side match. Expect MGM flash targets out past 400 yards. The same flash targets will be used in Raton a couple weekends later at the big 3-Gun match. Ron, find me a range other than Montrose that can handle an Area match I will be more than happy to host an Area match. If I were to get more involved I would be divorced or kicked out of the military. We have made great progress in Pueblo as far as range improvements and props go, but we aren’t ready for an Area match. Depending on how the Mile High Showdown goes this Labor Day will determine how far forward Lizard and I will lean for the next couple years. Several Colorado shooters approached Randy Boss the Western Colorado SC and myself about Colorado being in Area 1 when most of us shoot the Area 2 match. As Colorado will most likely not host an Area match for the next several years it made sense to ask the USPSA board to look into moving us and maybe create a four corners area. Also with California being a 10 round state Area 2 was also in a pinch. There was a lot more to it, but you get the idea. Bruce is working with us. If it does not happen its no big deal. Some will travel to the ends of the earth for an Area match and others wont. If I can answer any more questions, feel free to contact me while I am still in town. I am getting ready to start loading for a 6.5 BR for Silhouette shooting. I am using Lapua brass and Sierra 120 and 140 Matchkings. Might anyone have any good loads they might want to share? I know a lot of the Masters shooters liked the caliber, but there is not a lot of info out there.

Might anyone remember the site address that had a bunch of stage designs up for grabs? I though it was something like stageswapping.com. My rangemaster/course designer is going to the SHOT Show and USPA Convention and I hate designing stages. Thanks for your help.

I didnt need a break in period either. It ran fine with all the ammo I could stuff in it including weenie skeet loads. I did however have one double feed a while back. I have tried to figure out why, but just cant. But the good news is that it has only done it once and not in the past 300-400 rounds. There is a match this weekend, so if its going to happen...

I tried the P7 in production, but the reloads killed me. My Glock and Steyr are a lot easier to reload. The short sight radius is another weak point of the P7. 9x19 in M10 mags works fine and they are a lot cheaper to boot. So far it looks like there is no one majik gun for Production. Para, Glock and Sig are ruling the roost right now.

I know of an IPSC club that will be providing a lot of props and workers...
