  1. Whenever we are challenged we always ask for a ruling in the rulebook specifically citing what you are violating. If no one says you can't - you can. I've been trying but I can't find anything that says you can't internally lighten a slide on a Production gun.
  2. I don't think I've ever seen a major match taking place in December.
  3. Basically the only way to get rid of a flinch is experience, a few exercises (to let your subconscious know the gun won't hurt you) and double plugging. You will need an experienced shooter (or one that definetely does not have a flinch) to help you identify if you have one or not.
  4. There is a difference between a flinch and compensating for recoil. The difference is approximately a tenth of a second. One happens before the shot is fire, the other after. Compensating a recoil is just the pressure that you need to return the gun to its normal position. People should never load dummy rounds randomly in a mag to try and discover a flinch.

  6. Because it is a 30 point stage and there is no reason to push for a sub-2. Gotta figure each make up shot will cost you .2 to .3. Really nothing to gain on this stage. I'd rather just shoot this one in total control. If I lose 5 points to someone on this stage, I'll gain it back on another. No reason to push and turn this into a 2.7 or higher run.
  7. Sub 2 is definetely not superhuman. That being said though in a match I would probably never shoot it under 2.4ish.

  9. In this sport we allow people to run full speed shooting guns at targets, sometimes weak hand only, sometimes around vision barriers....shit I've ever jumped a gully in an IPSC stage. If someone doesn't have the manual dexterity to lower a hammer with their thumb or two fingers they probably aren't safe enough to shoot this sport because that is probably the least complex thing they will do.
  10. Harmon has a point but is that is only half of it. You can get trapped into 1 of 2 things with a dot. Over aiming or thinking the dot gives you a license not to aim. It does take some time to get used to it, but the best remedy to what you are feeling now is practice. Shoot 10,000 rounds through it and your body will figure out what it needs to do to shoot with a dot. What you mentioned about the dot showing you all your mistakes is very true, which is one of the reasons I think a red dot sight is the best tool for a shooter. Don't forget though that the dot doesn't have to be still to make the shot. The great thing about a dot is it gives you immediate feedback to whether or not you can break the shot when not everything is perfect.

  12. For most targets I usually use the method Steve described. However if the swinger is within about 10 yards I'll normally either look over the slide and look through the sights.
  13. Tony, Never thought you did mean an insult. The fact the El Prez is a classifier never even crossed my mind...I just set the goal because people said it couldn't be done.

  18. I'd have to physically see the stage to really offer insight on it. The thing I can recommend though is do whatever you need to do to make sure you keep your momentum moving through all the ports. The time saved here will come from fluid motion through the shooting positions.
  19. Also I'd like to add that shooting on the move in Production beyond 7 or 10 yards is almost always a bad idea.
  20. Basically it means shooting continuously so that your sights never stop moving.
  21. I would probably opt to not shoot a 15 yard target on the move. I also almost never engage steel on the move (there are a few exceptions). 10 yards and closer....depends on the target.
  22. I personally like the challenge. However, from looking at the shooters in my area...I can guarantee well over half of them would have 2 mikes on a 20 yard headshot.....and that is freestyle.
