  1. Whether he is Dave Sevigny or not....that means nothing towards your performance with the type of gun you are using.
  2. This is what I got.... "Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand." I wonder if my computer is trying to tell me something.
  3. I think you guys are gonna be in for a surprise in Open and Limited. Can't say anything yet. We will see.
  4. I haven't seen the video because my internet connection is slow, so I will only make comments on what has been posted. Think of your weak hand as a wet towel snapping down to the mag. It will take practice to get a good grip on the mag every time. When Matt said 500...I'm thinking more like 3 months and 15 to 20,000 because it becomes 2nd nature. When you snap your weak hand down to the mag, make sure the pad of your hand contacts the basepad first. Use this as a point of reference. If the same place impacts the basepad everything, I guarantee your grip on the mag will be consistent. The Burkett reload is good but I've never really been a fan of it. Half the reload is how fast you get the gun back on target. I vote for practicing the whole thing. The pause before inserting the mag is very subjective. I pause in all my match reloads, but onlookers say there is no pause at all. The pause is basically used to confirm orientation of the mag to the gun before you attempt to insert it. This has saved me from launching many mags into low Earth orbit.
  5. If anyone ever says a Glock is holding them back, I tell them to look at Dave Sevigny.
  6. What size dots are you guys using for Steel Challenge? I shot a match the other day with my IPSC gun (a 4 MOA dot) and it was way too small. Especially with it being a sunny day and the battery was dying....the dot got washed out on that white plate really easily. I was thinking something like an 8 or even a 12 MOA. (This is regarding Steel Challenge only). Opinions?
  7. No one improves because of a gun. The secret to improving when you start using a new gun is that when guys get new toys...they like to play with them. Hence you are practicing more and get better. I would definetely try and get some instruction but a new gun could help you regain your interest in practicing as well.
  8. Shoot .20 splits for the entire drill. Pretend like the gun is going to go off no matter what you do...it is your job to get the gun there in time.
  9. Guys, I really appreciate it, but I couldn't in good conscience do that. Thank you very much for the offer though.
  10. A big problem I notice with air-gunning is when they do it, they do it like they want it to be over. If I time myself air-gunning a stage (to see which way is faster) I am always faster in live fire. In air-gunning I almost exaggerate the time needed to take each shot so my sub-conscious doesn't get a cadence worked into it. The last thing I want is to shoot an array at a cadence that doesn't follow what my sights are doing.
  11. I can assure you the cash is not going to me.
  12. Haven't done it yet. I'll publish my choice when I do it.
  13. Hey thanks for all the kind words guys. As soon as I get some extra cash, I'm gonna load a ton of rounds and make the final run for it. Ron, I am absolutely cool with that.
  14. I agree. Make sure you always lead with the eyes.
  15. I think he shot it left to right.
  16. A good run for me on this was 2.7. I shot it 2, 1, 5, 4, S. Tried it 5, 4, 2, 1, S once and it was alright. I had a hard time with this anyway though.....4 MOA dot almost dead on a very sunny day.
  17. Ron, Looks pretty good bud. Do me a favor...try getting your weakhand on the new mag a little bit faster. Think of it as a wet towel snapping down to the mag. Probably cut anywhere from .1 - .2 off your reload.
  18. I just need to grab like 3000 rounds and go out there at 9 AM and stay until dark if I have to. I only had like 400 when I tried it so I wasn't fully prepared.
  19. Update: Made a run for it this past Saturday, and got plenty of video. Didn't hit it....closest was 3.02 with a miss. Had several 3.1x with 12 hits, and a 3.33 with nearly all A's. Will post some video when I get a chance.
  20. L2S, Don't get me wrong. I'm not advocating a faster first shot with disregard for points. I look at the draw like I look at anything...the more practice yu put in, the faster and more consistent it will be. I don't consider a .8 draw in a match to be recklass or too fast simply because when I shoot, I shoot as quickly as I can while keeping them in the center. CZ, I was saying an average of .2 seconds faster. Now when I practice, I don't only practice hands at sides draws. I will practice draws from whatever position I can think of, including unloading and other. Will a person be .2 faster on every one? Probably not...however I can definetely think of instances where I've gained close to .4 seconds on a IPSC style draw against some pretty good competitors.
  21. That is true....however if someone is on average .2 seconds faster on the draw then his competitor.....2 seconds times 36 stages at the WS equals 7 seconds. 7 seconds depending on the hit factor of the stages could be as much as 40 - 70 match points before the first shot is even fired. The draw is not the most important thing...however I'll take whatever points I can get, wherever I can get them.
