I too came from the BB Storm, yes, email is awesome due to the Blackberry Enterprise Server which pushes the emails. I switched due to the available "toys" Android can do. Plus the HD Camcorder on the X is great while recording our weekend matches!

Love this thread, I thought I was only one treating my gear this way. I've been lazy with my production pistol. "It's a fightin pistol, it'll run !!!" Ok, a little lube. Then once a month, field strip and clean with Brake wash, WD40 and cotton swabs. Lazy again, need to use the spare time to load ammunition. Open pistol, tighter tolerances, yes, at least a once a week wipe down, boresnake and lube with Royal purple. hehe Bore snake, best invention ever! Magazines are always the weak point for me. I'm diligent on the cleaning of those.

3.5 grains of something.. LOL Seriously, I use 3.7 of 231 with 147 FN Bear Creek Moly on top of it. I also use a 92FS to send them downrange.

Nice Pistol!! Looks like a EAA Witness with long slide and comp kit. Custom machining by a gunsmith. EAA did make a comp kit in 9x21 with barrel and comp. EAA is the usa importer of tanfoglio, prior to EAA it was Springfield armory as the P9. Run it, if it works well and a big plus is the small frame, I rebarreled my 9x21 to 9Major and works great. 550 is good one for all the reasons explained above. It's very "manual" which allows you to see every "step" of the process and help avoid F-ups. Cheap/easy to change caliber. I started reloading with my dad almost 20 years ago, since then I inherited his two 550. Not really required, but I realized why dad bought 2 machines. 1 - Small primer 1 - Large primer Both handle all the calibers I use and to appease the "laziness" of changing primer systems. Plus, they will never become obsolete, just improved upon. I'm tempted to get the case feeder. Then...... If your round usages jumps up on 1 particular caliber such as mine (9mm) and feel that practical shooting is a lifelong passion.... Just move to the bigguns..... 1050 .. done.

Yes I do! I love open due to the dot and gear, the speed of seeing the dot and mag capacity. In realistic terms, If/when I ever have to use a pistol, it will be iron sighted. Hence I still shoot IDPA in SSP Uspsa Production and Limited. Edrick

Kudos to you bro! Shoot what you like and if you are willing to set a budget and stick to it. By all means build it and have fun. I introduced practical shooting to a close friend of mine last year. He started off in production, then He built the G17 w/ the usual SJC comp/barrel/jpoint set up for open. Had a blast! Ran through D class and is now a B in Open. BTW, as of 2 months ago, he now runs a Open 2011 by JV Dynamics. (You may or may not follow the same path)

CocoBolo, You said it! I just tried a couple of my buddies open pistols by JV Dynamics. Dang it, I want it so bad.. just out of budget and have too many open Tanfoglio's. Hopefully soon, I'll go that route.

I sent my Gold Eric off along with some mags to be tuned by Jim Anglin, so I don't have it here to take images. It mounts to the standard 4 hole pattern on the Tanfos. I don't know how long it will be until I see the gun again, so images might not be available for some time. Here's my (late dad) Open Pistol. Circa 1992 Caspian Upper/lower. Wilson Barrel 38 Super. Obsolete by today's standards. Can you believe Iron sighted /Comped/ Single Stack / 38 Super was state of the art then?

Speed is fun, very fun but not be confused with "hosing". I've noticed at my club the top GM doesn't pull the trigger any faster than I do, he just ENGAGES so much sooner than I do. In addition, while moving and shooting sooner he is ensuring he his getting his hits by SEEING the shot, rather than just hosing. IMHO, this is where the accuracy fundamentals kick in. Lastly, just like the martial arts, he is pre-positioning himself for the next move/shooting position for economy of motion. Hence lower times. The trick is to perform all those fundamentals all at the same time vs. on-at-a-time. (Meaning, strolling through the course of fire and hosing instead of MOVING and Hitting.)

For me... 1. Don't sacrifice speed for accuracy. Don't sacrifice accuracy for speed. It's still a balance of the two. This was my first nationals, all season, we shoot/move at the rate you have established just before the match. The goal is to shoot at your best while maintaining maximum points. Some stages I had 1 to 4 points down and placed decent for the stage. Penalties are just that, penalties, don't get them. 2. Don't fock with your pistol during /before/ after the match at the hotel. (ahem.... guilty) 3. Practice the standards. Strong hand and support/weak hand. I almost zeroed that stage. 4. The craps table is a great place to make more shooting friends while using shooting terminology that the rest of the table don't understand 5. Great deal on Bud light during the game and bucket o beer is cheap at Orleans. Next year!!

Hi all, Any shooters out there have the Leupold Deltapoint on their open pistol? I was at Nationals last week and Noticed Jessie A. has it on her open STI. I like the idea of the smaller lighter sight that can be frame mounted and lower and less obtrusive than the C More Railway. The selling point for me is this sight is magnesium and 26mm wide lens. Larger than your STS / Jpoint 3.5MOA sight is available for the shooters used to the "dot". Leupold Deltapoint
