  1. Between the 2 choices you have, it depends on the style trigger you prefer. CZ is DA/SA M&P is DAO/ striker fired, somewhat like Glock. Since Production doesn't allow much in terms of mods, that's the deciding factor for me. You have just named a couple of the most popular models in the sport. I would say no hindrance. It's a production gun, intended to be stock. Spend/worry on the difference in gear on range time/match fee and ammunition to practice. I'm knocking on M with a stock 92FS in Production If you are interested in gear modification, definitely look at Limited and Open division pistols. BTW, where are you located? Welcome to the most addictive sport! I'm member of to IPSC clubs in So. Cal. PM me for details.
  2. My P9 at the time was 9x21. Loaded 9x19 length Used AA#7 130 or 135 FMJ by D&J Sorry I don't have any load data written down since 1992
  3. 8.5.2 "If a competitor holsters a loaded handgun at any time during a course of fire, it must be placed in applicable handgun ready conditions. (section 8.1) Violations may be subject to match disqualification." (10.5.11) Just wanted to ask the NORI or more experienced guys. I ask because during my pre-stage "Make ready", I found it more secure and for me to : 1. Use barney mag 2. Load,on safe, remove barney mag then holster. So both hands are free 3. Draw and insert fully charged magazine, holster again for "are you ready" VS. Holding pistol up and pointed down range in shooting hand while manipulating gear on my belt. I also do this routine during Steel Challenge course during "Outer Limits" after my shooting run. Holster, on safe while hot, then walk back to starting box. Just clarifying since I don't see other shooters do same. I remember learning that from TGO as a kid when first started action/practical pistol. Thanks in advance.

  8. G34, I know where you are coming from since the CZ/TZ/ Tan has slide inside the frame, less likely touch the moving slide.. I put this up on our club website as a tip.... The is the "NRA way".. which is consistent with majority of the practical shooters use.. When I teach it, point both thumbs towards your target, without touching the pistol... http://www.prg-ipsc.com/?page_id=61 Hope it helps
  9. Richmond Rod and Gun Club. Where Golden Bullet Championships is sometimes held. I believe that shooter you are referring to is Mr. President Mike Voigt...
  10. Awesome!! I remember those days! all about the shooting boxes...
  11. I agree... Before there were 90 deg mounts... Gunsmiths where making upright mounts work..... All preference.....I like upright myself
  12. Great thread! This proves to me that Production is one of the most popular divisions I shoot open and production since I only need to load and locate only 9mm brass. My gear. Beretta 92FS LPA rear adj sight D Hammer spring Improvised fiber optic front sight 147 or 125 Grain Bear Creek on top of 231 or titegroup 3.7 gr to 4.0 gr.
  13. Thanks for the replies! At this point, don't fix if it ain't broke. If it hasn't failed yet, don't replace until need to. This scope was old new stock at the time I put it on my P9 last year. In fact some of the older users may remember that this is the PDPIII BD with the reinforced tubes. The electronics are still solid till today.. Then again Major in 1993 was 175 PF with 9x21 so the pressures where higher.. I agree with the cool factor One of youngsters at the range noticed my pistol and asked why such a huge scope? I proceeded with the reasons why... state of the art at the time... yadda yadda yadda..
  14. Wondering if anybody out there still using a Tube Scope Red Dot such as Tasco Pro Point III ? I understand Aimpoint Micro is a tube, but much smaller. C-more is the "standard" due to no tube, heads up style lens. I have a Early 90's vintage Open pistol with a Tasco. I'm starting my 2nd season with this dot and so far so good and just as reliable as can be. I'm holding off spending on this pistol till I get a new 2011 for the c-more set up. My question is, do you find any restrictions for the tube style scope?
  15. That's awesome... Most of the round count here in so cal is approximately 30 rnds. Usually almost 200 rds for 6 stages. There are alot of SS, production and few Rev at our club, so yes, factor those in. If ever in So Cal. Every once in a while there is a NRG 300.... 300 rounds 6 stages. http://nrg.jvdynamics.com/ Trigger finger gets tired at the end of the stage! Here's the youtube vid of the Match Director / GM Jojo Vidanes Enjoy.....
  16. Great List! I'm from the west coast so..... No particular order.. JV Dynamics Don Kehoe Limcat
  17. G-man and noylj nailed it. Shoot the bullet with best results. I tried .357 diam 158 RNL in my 9mm... Tumble at 3 feet. I'm not using those anymore.
  18. Welcome to reloading!! http://data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp That's a good start for the popular powders production shooters use and reference other reloading guides. The reloading manuals and benosverse are guides, reloading is an art in itself. Research and study the reloading manuals and try different components, find what you like then stick to it.(Provided it's a safe load) There's no perfect load one size fits all... IMHO Chronograph the load and document your accuracy results and "recipes" I personally use 231, clays and titegroup a lot and bullets between 125 - 147 Moly or JHP I've learned to be flexible, due to varying degrees of availability of components. Enjoy!
  19. For my P9/tanfoglio I use the aforementioned cotton swabs, metal pick, and WD40 to clean and wipe down. For a more thorough clean after the initial cleaning; Brake parts wash then wipe down with silicone rag/wd40
  20. I do that for my production pistol. If you're gonna spend $$ on a magazine, I just get the proper one and load the mags per rules of the game. When carry/home.... full capacity!
  21. Funny how this subject came up again recently. I DL this movie, It's a movie, intended for the artistic shots. I especially liked the winding road shot from straight above. Well that's about it and Violante! Every wonder how he sabotaged the rifle he built?
  22. Lee Precision came up with an additional, clever use for the FCD body only. Not being used as a crimp die at all. Sort of a poor mans Case Pro. Jim So does the empty FCD body come with the kit? I purchased mine from Midway. You would Purchase the following: 1. FCD your caliber of choice. (you will remove the adjusting screw then add extension sleeve (below) to make it a push through) 2. Bulge buster kit Notes: Will not work with 9mm Luger # Kit includes: Push Through Punch, Extension Sleeve and Catch Container # Instructions 3. Optional single stage press (in which I opted for) Hope it helps. Less than $70 for all three !!!
  23. Roy, Get it, works great.... Earlier thread on this... http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=102723&st=0&p=1177254&hl=buster&fromsearch=1entry1177254
