    Corporate Liars

Eric, I'd like to have that info too , I really doubt there is much difference between grades of wheat gluten from china . Same goes for the other stuff from a few other countries . Pretty sure they would sell whatever they have, for as much as they can get away with. No thanks ... I'm trying to get old . Travis F.
  2. You couldn't GIVE me a new release of a Microsoft product . Ubuntu keeps getting better all the time. Travis F.
  3. If you get the XL650 , be sure to get the " quick change primer feed kit " , that way you can just swap out the whole assembly when changing sizes , much faster and less cussing too. Auto index is not just for ease of operation , it also makes a double charge pretty difficult ( though not impossible if you short stroke the handle while clearing a jam ). Just .020 from some guy Travis F.
  4. If you trim short by .020 or so the first time you trim , just check to make sure it's not too long and load it til it needs another trim ( my brass rarely survives long enough to need it , case rims get beat up, and getting stepped on in gravel , and lost in grass , Etc. ). Just .020 from some guy who is lazy. Too long could be a VERY bad thing. Travis F.
  5. I found that grease on the ramp seemed to help . There is also the adjustment mentioned above , which needs to be messed with when changing case sizes. Also have had this happen when the shell carrier slots were getting dirty . Travis F.
  6. Longshot is great in the 45ACP for pin loads using 230GR bullets . 185's give a pretty good flash ! This powder does not seem to like reduced loads ( at all ). Not very useful for barely making major in 45 . Works well in my 45ACP carbine, also as mentioned above it is usable in 357 ( again , not at reduced loads ) , Longshot also makes a very good 40 S&W carbine powder for pins , you gotta love a powder that does all that AND launches 1 1/8 OZ loads from a 12 GA. at 1500+ FPS. Does not seem particularly dirty when loaded close to max. Loud, slow burning, and flashy are kinda fun.... Travis F.
  7. I have only had one single primer pop while reloading , there was no shrapnel . I wear safety glasses ALWAYS when loading or hand priming brass . I only have two eyes , I like them both . Travis F.

    Use Of Zen

Zen is not a religion . Travis F.
  9. I had some issues with MY XL650 and a batch of Fed. primers. It seems to have been just an issue with that batch of primers and my primer plate needing to have the holes lightly deburred. All is well now. Travis F.
  10. OOPS ! Wrong nick. Sorry ! I am sure I'll get around to those ISO's eventually. Thanks robomanusa ! Thankfully this place is not as crowded with Nick's as Eric(k)'s ... Now if I could only swap shooting ability with TravisT while I'm busy screwing up names... Travis F.
  11. When you get really hooked , air power is the only way to go . Move up to Dremel open class , get a die grinder . You can really screw up stuff quick with a die grinder , par time to scrap metal is less than 1 second. The mini die grinders are really slick for small work , 1/8" collets accept Dremel bits , and they fit in your hand much better than a Dremel , You can hold them like a pencil. Wear hearing protection, safety glasses , and get a good compressor. Travis F.
  12. I dunno what LPatterson meant. But Heatgear ( or similar off brand ) as a base layer under warm clothes works pretty well for me. Wicks sweat away from your skin and cuts heat loss . A couple of layers of that type of material under something Goretex makes for a low bulk way to keep warm. Travis F.

    Shoes

I quit wearing sandals for shooting when I realized just how much hot brass wedged between the toes affected my NPA. I noticed an immediate accuracy improvement with proper footwear. Travis F.
  14. I fixed it ! Ubuntu seems to be allergic to my RAID card , but only when the SATA drives are connected.(?) Unplug the drives and run from the IDE harddrive and all is well. ( A big thank you to Nick Habicht who sold me some old 80 G drives cheap ! ) This seems very strange to me , but then I know very little about Linux . XP boots and runs fine from the SATA/RAID drives , I was hoping to switch back and forth between the OS's without opening the case. Plugging/unplugging drives so far has a par time of 34 seconds ... Practice , practice . practice , and don't install the case screws ... Travis F.
  15. I gotta say right off that I don't really know much about computers. I installed Ubuntu on my spare machine ( Automatix2 makes it work slick ! ). Tried to install on my " good " machine , There has been no joy , Any advice appreciated ! Ubuntu stalls out trying to mount root file system. No error message just freezes. Knoppix gets " kernal panic - not syncing : attempting to kill init! " Travis F.

    Firefox

Firefox is pretty cool. Opera is faster on my old junkers. Travis F.
  17. Mulching mower = free top dressing for your lawn . Use a rake or blower to disperse the big piles for more even coverage . No bags , no dumping , no disposal , free organic top dressing . Travis F.
  18. I was using Petco walnut , then found the same thing at the local feed store for even less. Walnut bird litter is the product ( who knew birds used litter ? ) I see no difference between this stuff and the brass polishing walnut. Add a cup of Lymans Tuff nut if I have really nasty brass , otherwise just a squirt of whatever I have on hand , Dillon , Midway , etc. Someday I gotta try rice . Travis F.
  19. Exactly ! New shooters will show up just to shoot and check it out without buying anything extra . The first time shooter hearing " your gun has to be classified as open " , and getting stomped badly by real open shooters might not come back. Likewise if the first advice a new shooter gets is to spend 3 paychecks on new gear to comply with a division , they might not come back . Make it as easy as possible to check out USPSA and more shooters will show up , some will get addicted .. Travis F.
  20. The more I mess with this combo , the more I like it ! Multimedia , web browsing , general stuff , it's all there . Internet radio , ripping and burning , office apps , it's all there . It,s running fine on my spare P3 733MHZ , and so far , has all the features of Windows XP plus extras. No need for any cryptic command line commands every time you turn around , just use it . I mentioned this because it's so UNLIKE any other Linux I have tried , I am getting inclined to install this as the OS on my main computer , instead of XP ... I am not a geek. Travis F.
  21. IMHO the Red Star is for the AK what the JP is for the AR . SWEET ! Short and light trigger pull. Travis F.
  22. I have been screwing around with Linux stuff for the past few months, and have found quite a few distro's ( thats what different versions of Linux are called ) that have made me cuss , given me headaches , and generally been a pain in the A$$ and a waste of time . Ubuntu started to look good , and then not so good when when I realized there was alot of stuff missing that had to be installed , and was not immediately available in one place . http://www.getautomatix.com/ Problem solved . Even a computer idiot like me can make this work . If you are looking for an easy operating system that actually works , this might be worth a look. BTW : IT'S ALL FREE ! Travis F.

    A** Rocket!

Even more puzzling is that there are a huge number of similar videos on that site . Could this be the beginning of a new IDPA division ? C'mon IDPA guys , that was a joke .... Travis F.
  24. Custom Glock Racing has them too. http://www.gunracing.com/Qstore/Qstore.cgi...amp;PROD=000012 Travis F.
