  1. (1) I don't like the idea of carpeted reloading areas and vacuum cleaners. Not saying it won't work , more saying I am a big chicken when it comes to mixing fire with reloading components. Cluck - Cluck . (2) You should be able to swap bullets in 40 with little problem if you are not loading max loads. It would be advisable to cut back a few .1's on the powder and compare the results to what you had seen before the switch just to be sure. Most likely the Berry's bullets will run a few FPS faster over the same charge as a JHP. (3) firing the same weight bullet at the same velocity over a faster powder may ( I say may ) give a slightly " softer " feel than a slower powder , the difference is pretty small . Firing a heavier bullet at the same PF ( power factor ) over a faster powder will be more noticable difference . Not that that helps if you want to stick with the 165's... (4) I would ( just me ) load these bullets so the longest loaded round would fit in the mag ( some will be short ) over a LESS than max load and just shoot them. Just .02 from some guy on the internet... Travis F.
  2. My 1:12 tumbled 69 Gr. bullets, some of them were keyholing at 50 Yards. 55's and under worked fine. Travis F.
  3. A casefeeder is a beautiful thing ! The thrill is gone for me too ( reloading wise ) , but it's still better than facing a sink full of dishes. Travis F.
  4. Merlin, Sell me that Benny Hill 6" now , before you lose it in chapter 7 . Travis F. PS. Fishy ...
  5. Disclaimer: I just ran across these on Ebay . I ordered one of each. That's all I know. Quantities available were in the 90's as of 7/31/06 , sale ends Aug 8 . http://cgi.ebay.com/BLACKHAWK-HYDRASTORM-T...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/BLACKHAWK-HYDRASTORM-P...1QQcmdZViewItem Travis F.
  6. Pretty much what George said , Except the part about trimming not being required , the last batch of LC brass I did had some VERY long cases , be sure to at least measure and see . I just installed a Giraud carbide cutter in my Gracey . Almost makes trimming fun , or at least less unfun . Travis F.
  7. Merlin, Now that you can afford to buy new gear , you can sell me that old used Benny Hill Fat Free Longslide 40 real cheap ! Congrats ! Travis F. PS. Something smells fishy ...
  8. Those 2 sounds like the way to go. Would a glock newbie be able to install these parts. If they have good instructions I have basic tools. Also, with the takeup and overtravel screws how much of the travel can you take up, some, all? The two kits I installed dropped in fine , take it apart and reassemble with the new parts. No filing, grinding, or bending required . Stock parts remain intact for reinstallation or as spares for experiments. Adjustment wise I was able to remove some of the pretravel and most of the overtravel. Removing too much pretravel won't let the trigger safety move forward and engage. Removing too much overtravel will cause the striker to hit the internal safety plunger , and give light strikes. Both are just a matter of twisting allen screws. Get one of those orange plates that replaces the stock one at the back of the slide , or grind an old one off a little to use while adjusting stuff , it's alot easier when you can see the parts and reach in and release the striker with a small screwdriver when you adjust a little too much. Travis F.
  9. What HSMITH said. Travis F.
  10. Just to be clear about the post I made above. I never got tiny groups either , but 20 -30 rounds in a softball sized circle ( sometimes better ) is not too bad for ME with iron sights. I didn't mean for it to sound like I got the Mini to drive tacks ... Travis F.
  11. A trigger kit from WWW.TriggerKits.com and a Vanek trigger housing with takeup and overtravel screws is pretty slick. Not fine tuned 1911 slick , but pretty damn good . If Charlie Vanek has his new drop in trigger kits ( they come with the housing ) , I'm sure one of those would be slick too. Travis F.
  12. The FCD acts like a carbide case guage , any rounds that are a little oversized get a squeeze . The FCD won't make bad ammo any better , but it sure makes it easier to fit into the chamber. I like em. Travis F.
  13. Aerosigns, My Mini had a fetish for the 52 Gr. Sierra Match King bullets over H335 ( 25ish Gr. IIRC ). Contrary to common opinion , 52 Gr. bullets will shoot beyond 100 YDS. Travis F.
  14. Get the Lee 4 die set ( includes FCD ) and replace the seater die with a Redding Comp. seater die . Travis F.
  15. Whatever you decide to get , be sure to install the JP trigger ! Travis F.
  16. I have had a knife in my pocket since I was nine years old. Knives do come in handy once in a while. Travis F.
  17. Just need reference for mag holders. Will they interchange with Glock double stack 33 Rd. mags as far as using the same nylon ( soft ) pouches ? Thanks in advance ! Travis F.
  18. McOliver, Just a guess , but do you have another trigger assy to swap out with this one ? I have had two that were either bent in shipping, or not bent right in the first place. Ruined a super cool magnesium Videcki trigger trying to figure out the problem. Travis F.
  19. Rockymtnflash, Glad to hear you are OK ! Good advice above , also check your brass for cases that may not be " once fired " . I have had some problems with this when cases are just floor sweepings from the local range , sometimes multifired and abused brass gets mixed in. Travis F.
  20. The shorter OAL required in a Glock makes the 1.200 OAL data useless to me. I want to try 180 Berry's HP's . Thus far on the forum I have seen : 4.0 making minor 4.2 making 160 PF , 4.5 making 167 PF, 4.8 making 172 PF , 4.9 making unspecified major. Most of the above loads have used OAL's 1.130 - 1.135 . I am feeling a little more adventurous with the KKM barrel than with the stock tube , my brass looks much better now ! I realize that N320 at 1.135 under 180's is probably pushing the envelope just a bit. Any advice from shooters who have used this powder in short 40 major ? I heard something about a 180 JHP over 4.8 N320 grains being absolutely lethal to chronographs, but I can't confirm it... Thanks in advance ! Travis F. Travis F.
  21. I finished the lastest with the least self respect of all. Never again will I let that happen !!!! Great Pic Joe ! It actually makes it look like I know what I'm doing. Let me know when you get around to posting the other pics. Travis F.
  22. I have dremeled on Kydex with the replaceble sandpaper cylinders . This was just to smooth and contour stuff , might be a little slow for your use. Staying in one place too long will heat the Kydex and make it stick to the sandpaper roll. Kydex is cool stuff , heat it with a hairdryer and you can make " adjustments " , heat it with a torch ( be careful it scorches and burns easily ) and you can make radical changes . When heated enough Kydex gets as easy to bend as rubber , hold it in place until it cools and it becomes just like it was , only in a different shape. Travis F.
  23. I didn't intend for this to be a guessing game , or the least bit amusing. I DQ'ed at A3 in a really bad way. I didn't just deserve a DQ , I really deserved a bitch slap from all present. My sincerest apologies to all. I refuse to make any excuses . I should probably turn in my USPSA card . Just in case anyone wonders , no there was not an AD. Travis F.
  24. I am just relieved that this thread isn't about me... Travis F.
