  1. It's so freaking bad that I don't even want to share it with the internet . Those of you who already know what happened should feel free to PM me and help inspire me to yet a new height of self loathing. I'd like to make some lame excuse , but there is no excuse that covers something of this magnitude. I am truly disgusted . Travis F.
  2. " Just like to use up whats left in my stock " SP2. AACK ! Oh the humanity ! Travis F.

    Kkm Lockup

The KKM drop in I installed in my G35 may be just a hair tighter than stock in the lockup department. The difference is very small. Mine just dropped in , no fitting at all. The KKM chamber is much tighter than stock ( it's just right ). Travis F.
  4. I don't know squat. But I have had the pleasure of watching those who do. They get most all the points , and they aren't " fast " so much as they are efficient. I recently have had ( another ) lesson in perception of speed, and trying to go " faster " or "slower " . My conclusion ( again ) is that conciously controlling speed is not a good way to get a higher hit factor. Some really good advice above. Travis F.
  5. I had a a couple of dies that pulled the primers back in once in a while. A few strokes of a file fixed them. I would be measuring some stuff too... Travis F.
  6. There may actually be a grain of truth to this statement " Firearms are not accurate ". This may be a new development , like a virus, that has currently infected my pistol. That would explain my inability to hit anything lately... OK , it was a freakin joke... Travis F.
  7. Someone local has an Atlas lathe / mill for sale , low milage one owner etc. The current owner says the unit was purchased a Sears about 40 years ago, and is still attatched to the original shipping skid. 7/8 spindle bore ( per owner ) 110 Volt HUGE amount ( per owner ) of accessories including milling attatchments centers and chucks , steady rest , bits, etc. Is it worth an hour drive to look at it ? What would it be worth , assuming it still works ? Was this worth a crap when it was new ? I would be best classified as an occasional /casual basement machinist at best and would mostly be ruining stuff at a very slow pace. Thanks in advance ! Travis F.
  8. I wish they would make orange lenses for the Kerosene ! Racing red is awsome in the sun and light shade. Yellow is better indoors . Just .02 Travis F.
  9. I asked Dave S. about this at DTC06 , because I thought it was strange to see a Limited gun without a magwell . He replied " I don't need one " . Dave also suggested I practice my reloads until I could hit the opening without a magwell. I have a THE magwell on my G35 , and still can't shoot like Dave S. or Flexmoney ... Travis F.
  10. Power Factor ( PF ) = Velocity ( in FPS ) X bullet weight ( in Grains ) divided by 1000. Travis F.
  11. I do it too. And I still can't shoot as well as Carmoney... Travis F.
  12. 4.3 of Titegroup under a 180 will make APX. 170 PF in my G35 ( 40 S&W ) 1.135 OAL Travis F.
  13. How does the Rex 32 ( yellow can ) meter ? I could do an awful lot of cleaning for the differene in price between Rex 32 and VVN320... Flake or spherical ? Travis F.
  14. Pretty sure Elcan of Canada is working on a digital rifle scope / laser range finder combo that also takes pictures at the time of the shot. We can't be too far from what you are describing tech wise. Travis F.
  15. Ditto. If it's got a safety or decocker use it before holstering. Travis F.
  16. Ater about 3-4 ( plus the load that was fired to make them "Once fired ") loadings the case rims of my brass look pretty beat up. This seems to cause issues with reliability ( feeding ) so, I avoid it. YMMV , Just .02 , ETC.... Travis F.
  17. Brian, When you noticed you had an incorrect grip , was the bottle half empty , or half full ? Sorry , you had to know someone would ask... Travis F.
  18. C1076USMC, Welcome to the forum ! For the most part the bulge is really only obvious after sizing , kinda looks like a baby belted magnum. The EGW dies will size further down the brass and get rid of the belt. If you see brass that is obviously deformed on one side , as opposed to more or less round , pitch it. Glocks seem to only do this in 40. HUGE chambers. Travis F.
  19. Todd, I had a similar problem with a batch of Fed Match primers. Switched to Win. and the problem disappeared. Another batch of standard Fed. primers works fine also. If for any reason a primer was not seated and bypassed the priming station it would turn slightly sideways in the wheel and jam the feed wheel , sometimes breaking the ring indexer as I tried to get things unstuck. Just .02 Travis F.
  20. I am running the EGW U die on my XL650 in 40 with no problems now. I broke a few ring indexers for other reasons . Primer feed problems ( if the plate hangs up and you force the handle the indexer breaks ) Trying to decap 40's with 9's stuck in them ( OOPS ! ) Seems like any serious hitch in rotation of the shell plate, or short stroke can break this part. I needed to adjust the plate timing with the platform alignment tool and get the case insertion adjustment just right to get the brass perfectly aligned with the die for smooth operation , the amount of flare at the bottom of the die kind of makes it unforgiving of misaligned cases. I use Hornady One Shot and never tried it without lube. Just .02 Travis F.
  21. I'm thinking the hole through the bushing comp is too large ( the barrel has to pass through it ) to make the comp actually work , too large a clearance between the bullet and the inside of the comp lets gasses escape without really directing them properly. Just .02 Travis F.
  22. Universal Clays also works pretty nice under 180's in 40 S&W in my G35. 4.6 Universal Clays under 180 Berry's Fed. primers and brass gives me 170 - 172 PF in my KKM barrel. ( 1.135 OAL ) This load is actually slightly under Hodgdon's " start " load . I tried TiteGroup also and found that MY G35 tended to group better with this powder and the Berry's HP . YMMV Travis F.
  23. They do thicken up the oil as advertised. The synthetic is way expensive. I actually think the Lucas brand is pretty good stuff. Their " Red & Tacky " grease is primo wheel bearing and general purpose grease. The Lucas fuel additive actually seems to work also. The oil stabilizer works fine on slide rails. Too thick for trigger parts in a 1911... DOH ! Travis F.
