  1. I think the S_I vs Glock boils down to this in the end. You can do equally well with either, but the illusion that you're shooting a better gun makes people happy (or, the illusion that they're shooting the worse gun makes them want the "better" one...) Actually does it matter if the advantage is real or imagined? The belief in the advantage could be enough to make you shoot better. So much of this or any other sport is mental. Top end athletes spend a lot of dough on shrinks and hypnotherapists. Whats a 2K gun compared to that? Slav My point exactly. Also, I think the emphasis on just the price is irrelevant. I wonder what this thread would look like if S_Is and Glocks were priced equally.

BTW Kyle, your sights were off? Did you finally drift them Glock sights to the right, like you're supposed to?
  3. Damned shame, great actor. About money and happiness, I don't like Arnie anymore, but here goes: "Money doesn't make you happy. I now have $50 million but I was just as happy when I had $48 million." (Arnold Schwarzenegger)
  4. Go for a fast reload directly after you shot your last shot. If the reload goes great or well, shoot the last shot If you blow the reload for some reason, and you take more than the time to gain an advantage, stop and don't shoot after the reload. @7yds this would be a tight one with open targets. You'd have to nail the reload in about 1.5s (if you can shoot the 6 shots in about 2 seconds)
  5. Comfort/trust is a HUGE factor. You may not notice it on the timer or on the paper. But in a sport where the mental game is 90% of the whole sport, you'd better shoot a gun that you're absolutely comfortable with. For whatever reason. If you think you will do better with a 2011 or worse with a Glock, you're probably right.
  6. I like to practicie with a timer (par time). What I like about is not the "getting faster" part, but increased consistency.

    Shooting Open!

LOL! Damn I laughed so hard I woke my boyfriend up.
  8. Saul Kirsch has a new belt. It's stiffer than the CR (didn't know that was possible), a tad wider for perfect fit (even after years of dryfire, and has a thinner inner belt for a better fit.
  9. Right now the rules are basically that you: Can put any notch/post sights on the gun, as long as you do not alter the slide. Can add grip tape (I suggest TruGrip from Eric Wesselman) Can do minor polishing/detailing to the internals of the gun Need to have a 5lbs. trigger on the first shot. I would do the same to an M&P as I did to my Glock. Add nice sights, Trugrip and just shoot it.
  10. Looks great! The only thing I can think of, but just because you want feedback and that puts me in nitpicking mode, is that you don't really stop moving until you hit the reload. It seems like your body has quite some lateral movement after you engage the first target. But again...that's just nitpicking, or as we say in Dutch... antf&cking...
  11. One of the most dominant performances I have seen. Too bad Daddy got cut (damned elbows). BJ will probably do the same to Sherk...
  12. Wow, I can't belive this thread isn't red hot. This is one of the things I somehow always end up working on. I also have pretty large hands and I do the same thing. I like to have my strong hand like pic.1, but when I add my left hand to the grip, it pushes my strong hand thumb into the position of pic.2. The only way I can avoid this is by placing my weak hand a tad lower on the grip. I shoot a Glock and placing my hand like pic.2 will make the slide touch my hand when it cycles...

    Tom Cruise...

Didn't want to turn this into a political/religious thread Just thought it was funny hearing an idiot talk for so long without saying shit
  14. I was going to reply with: "He sells slide rackers, so of course he's for them" But then I thought of him shooting and realized that rackers are definately better/faster for clearing jams. So I take back my first post. Rackers do have an advantage, even in Limited.

    Trugrip

Received my Trugrip today in the mail. 6 days to get it to Europe. I'd say that's some fast service right there. I was impressed. Package included ziplock with 3 Trugrips and even the alcohol dabs to clean the grip with. I decided to RTFM before I installed them and was glad I did. It took me about 10 minutes and I really took my time. Well, it is on the gun and I have only one word: AWESOME! What I like is that it offers grip EVERYWHERE! I used Decal Grip before this and that was a big upgrade from no grip tape at all. But Trugrip has a big advantage over other kinds I used. And it fits my 2nd generation like a glove.
  17. Is that with the gun in forward cant? No, that is straight up and down. When I got the holster I called them and asked if I can get the old belt attachment and they said they don't make it anymore. That's strange, I got my holster last week and I got it with the 3-way adjustable attachment.
  18. I keep forgetting you're not used to the Force ... Now, seriously, the rule reads: then, did you also think about starting measuring from the inside centre of a competitor's torso? The rule says the "closest" distance, both from torso and grip, thus if you accept measuring from the external circumference of your torso, you would accept as well measuring from the external circumference of the gun grip. I'm just glad it doesn't say "longest dimension of the competitor's body" or I would have to wear my holster up front
  19. Is that with the gun in forward cant?
  20. That is quite easy to understand, but measuring from the inside of the magwell tot he torso is not that easy, is it?

    HANDGUN GRIP

Holy sh!t! The rest of the video's are brilliant!! My favorite: http://www.expertvillage.com/videos/beginn...ing-stances.htm "Make sure there's no round in the chamber and no magazine in the barrel..." Yeah, I hate when that happens... EDIT: I need to work on my bone support: http://www.expertvillage.com/videos/beginn...-relaxation.htm
  22. A damn (understandable) shame, and definately a headscratcher for the IPSC BOD. DP40, I think to make the WS more professional, and for all countries to "crawl out of their hobby status", only the best shooters should attend the World Shoot. The next part might sound a little harsh, but I am amazed at how many "bad to mediocre" shooters attend World Shoots, sipmly because there are that many slots, and because they can afford it. It is totally weird to see Eric Grauffel of Max Michel should next to a squad with guys that barely make C-class. It's like giving your local weekend Football team a go in the Superbowl. IPSC is the only sport I can think of where anyone who participates in the sport, can go to the World Championships, no matter what level they play at. I mean, it's the friggin' World Championship for crying out loud. Each year World Shoots get bigger and bigger and more logistic problems rise because of it. I think each country should send their best and that's it. Bali will have about 1000 shooters. That's just crazy! 300 shooters could easily be enough. I also feel that it takes something away from the status of reaching the World Championship. You can just go, and you don't have to perform well to get there. IMO, keep the Level III matches open to everyone and let the top guys fight at the Level IV and Level V matches. It will give the top guys something extra to work for and the juniors something to dream of.
