  1. Yes. Many thousands of repetitions later, trust me, it's a piece of cake.
  2. My best guess is the slide will remain the same, but the barrel will be the optional 120mm barrel shipped for the Australian and Danish market.
  3. One bit to add. Don't automaticly trust your parents friends to do the right thing, just because they were friends. An old boss's son called me up a few months after the death for some help with the gun collection. His fathers long time "best buddy" had just about raped and pillaged the collection, stealing outright some items. Because the friend had used the old mans place to reload, he had the combination to the gun room. This "best buddy" was supposed to help out the son, but instead lined his own pockets.
  4. A similar bit of stupidity was the change in policy at a friends employer a few years back. Previously they had 8 paid sick days a year. The company changed policys, still keeping the 8 sick days, but adding a requirement to take a day without pay prior to claiming a sick day. Obvious result, anyone sick enough to call in sick was automaticly off for two days minimum. My uncles old employer had every employee banking 2.5 hours a week unpaid, for 8 lieu days a year to be used for Dr. appointment or other lifestyle impediments to attending work. Only unit managers were instructed to get employees to use lieu days instead of sick days when sick, by any means, fair or foul.
  5. I have a generous sick time plan. If you are a good employee, you'll never have to worry about your pay if you fall ill in your later years of employment. If that never happens, you can potentially get a 6 month pay check when you retire. Like all good things in life, it's open to abuse by the stupid among us. The employer finally brought in an attendance management program. You'd think the earth was coming to an end.
  6. I wait to see the Mr.BulletFeeder for this sucker.
  7. I took my 8 year old twins to see it Friday. Was it wrong of me to chew on one's leg after he fell asleep that night? He stopped screaming this morning.
  8. Firefighters at the turn of the century used to grow big mustaches to try and filter the smoke and ash.
  9. You can run either casefeed plate with .40, but since so many also load 9mm, most seem to stick with just the small plate.
  10. Even with a GPS, I still tend to go to Google Maps and search for the route I want, and print out a hard copy of the instructions. On a trip to Pennsylvannia last year, our GPS got confused when the highway we were on was divided by a 50 yard greenbelt.
  11. I have to agree with Pat. If you can't see yourself reloading, you should seriously consider Production or Standard.
  12. Tell me about it, the "Classic" target is used in countries on the metric system but the "Metric" target is used in the US which isn't on the metric system. Esplain dat one to me Lucy. Joe W. Sort of like how you drive on a parkway, but park on a driveway.....
  13. The AR-15 gas sytem relys on pressure, volume, and duration to cycle properly. Simply drilling a larger port hole may increase the volume, but it also adversely affects the pressure and duration. It's the last step I would consider taking to get a malfunctioning AR to run. Assuming that it's not illegal in your corner of the universe, the first thing I'd check if my AR-15 was malfunctioning is the weight of te bolt carrier and buffer. It's counter-intuitive, but the answer to many malfunctions isn't a faster cycle speed, but a slower one. If you are running a Colt lightweight/cut carrier, try a M-16 version. Same goes for the buffer. Try the H buffer if it's not already installed.
  14. OK, I bought a Mr.BulletFeeder a few months back and love it. However, to be fair, I checked out the GSI website for a look. While the GSI looks like it has a more expensive and complicated construction and installation, I can't seem to notice any real advantage over the KISS/Mr.BulletFeeder. Am I missing something obvious?
  15. I have a friend living in Huntingdon Pa who I'm trying to interest in USPSA shooting. Are there any decent clubs nearby???
  16. Part of the reason for this myth is a real suggestion made during the Clinton Administration, after the McVie trial. A suggestion was made to expand the requirement for taggants in explosives to include smokeless powder and primers. Speculation ran wild, and some very real concern existed that adding a so-called inert material into the powder and primers might affect shelf life and might require the rewriting of reloading manuals.
  17. I keep my shop vac under the bench, and run it while pouring the tumbler into the seperator. Then I vacuum out the dust in the tumbler, and spin the seperator, while sucking the dust out of the air.
  18. I don't think so Jim! Out of the box, my origional K100 had an excellent SA trigger and the DA was better than a standard CZ-75. The New GP6 has an even better trigger in both SA and DA. While the DA is not as light as a SP01 Shadow, the SA is lighter, crisper, and with a wicked reset (1911ish)
  19. The RT1200 won't open up the case mouth, so the bullets will be sizing the mouth and neck area. If you are using boat tail bullets, that's not a problem. When I used to load .223, I approached it differently, and used a seperate tool head. I processed the cases in the first pass, then tumbled the lube off. For loading I used a Lee collet die to clear the flashholes and open the mouth of the case. Your method will work fine however. Only possible fly in the ointment is if your brass isn't sized enough in the RT1200. I used the Dillon small base carbide dies and trimmed after sizing.
  20. I just use the Dillon dies, and the LFC in the last station in place of the Dillon.
  21. If the slide mic's out fine, and the frame rails are still fine, I'd just rebarrel the beast.
  22. So I'm watching WGN on satellite, trying not to puke while watching Johnny Depp in "Blow". The freak that hacked this cool film into disjointed bits of fecal matter should be shot and urinated on.
  23. The AR-15/M-16 gas system relys on both gas pressure, time that that pressure is applied to the carrier, and the mass of the carrier. If one element is altered, the whole system get's irritable. Guns running 20 inch barrels seem to be able to cope with lighter bolt carriers. As the barrel get's shorter, the lighter bolt carrier seems to allow the bolt to open a bit too fast, and extraction problems tend to increase. Since most of you guys are limited to 16 inch barrels, odds are you don't need the heavier bolt carrier, but it never hurts. If you try to build a 14.5 or 11 inch upper without a heavy bolt, good luck.
  24. In Canada, you take a course called the Black Badge to participate in IPSC. Besides learning the history of the sport and the rule book, you need to go through 12 seperate drills in the time allowed and with C's or better, or no misses and 50% A's. If you DQ twice in a season or more, you may be required to repeat the course.
