  1. With any car using aluminum heads, I only want to change those plugs once, so platinum's the ticket. 60K sounds a little early.
  2. So here is a top view of the PW with the press bolted on. In adjusting the machine, the key seems to be setting the part that fits in place of the handle as square as possible, then adjusting the nut on either end of the threaded rod to keep the arm from flopping over. Problem is, you pretty much have to adjust the linkage length first, then fine tune it afterwords. In this picture, the aluminum block has not been adjusted correctly. At RePete's suggestion, the power bar has been mounted high and the cables tied up to reduce clutter on the bench.
  3. Rent reduction? If your plumbing wasn't working, or your roof was leaking, you'd have cause to demand it be fixed and in many locals, deduct rent to repair the matter yourself if required. If AC was included as a term of the lease, you may be able to negotiate. Or just move. Considering the foreclosure market, I have to assume the rental market is getting flexible.
  4. so that's a block of steel on the end? interesting. Olde Skool. Pin shooters used to do that to add weight and tame recoil before the first compensators became popular. And hey, if you're going to add lenght, you might as well extend the sight radius.
  5. Can you be in contact with the barricade? Normally I brace my wrists against the barricade, not the gun.
  6. If it's a thing you feel good doing, just buy extra brass and pre-process the cases in the off season. Size and deprime them, then re-tumble them in fine walnut media.
  7. My reason for financing over 4 years is the general observation that all but the worst POS (Chrysler) will tend to be relatively reliable over the first 8 years with the low (10-15K ) milage I put on my vehicles. Leasing for me means two payments.
  8. I hate to broach the taboo rebuttal, but you most certainly did not DQ the shooter. She DQ'd herself, and you fairly applied the appropriate rule.
  9. I would like to try and live within the $24K all in budget of the last vehicle. I'd like to stay with a SUV or van like car as it's for 'er indoors, not moi. I'd prefer a true north american manufacturer, but would look at a Japanese vehicle assembled here. (I live 30 minutes from a Honda plant) What I'd really like is to find out that GM is reversing thier decision and will be building a 2011 Montana.
  10. I don't know if it's hit the US yet, but there is another method of payment available in Canada with the larger banks. It's called an Electronic Money Transfer. I just open up my browser and go to my banks website. Then I create an account for the recipient, which is just his name and e-mail address, as well as a security question and answer. I can then send him funds. I never have his banking information, nor does he have mine. The recipeint gets an e-mail with a link to the transfer site, and he clicks on the link to his own bank, answers the security question, selects the account, and deposits the money. I get an automatic e-mail advising me that he's gotten the funds. It costs $1.50 which is less than the cost of Bank MO, envelope, and stamp. It's also virtually instant. Gun deals are completed in an hour. I only wish it was already widely available in the US, as it would have saved a lot of frazzled nerves sending my new reloading addiction enabler a phat MO for my PW Autodrive.
  11. So between now and next April, I need to narrow my short list of new vehicle possibilities. We'll be trading in our 2000 Montana, and looking to get something modest. My critera are simple. Must be comfortable for XXLarge adults to drive. Must be able to hold 3 kids (9-11) at the same time in back. Must not be built in Korea or Japan, or Europe. My target is to match the same $500/month car payment I have now, spread over not more than 4 years. Our operating theory is we are not likely to be a one car family in the near future, so we buy one new vehicle every four years, replacing the oldest in the fleet. I have a few in mind, but what are your thoughts??
  12. For what it's worth; 1) we fu@#ing hate being forced to abandon the Metric target. 2) IPSC actually has approved Airsoft, but our sections and the region as a whole are not willing to include airsoft at this time. 3) Uncle Vinny has gotten a persecution complex because of some vigourous and vocal Canadian opposition to his movement to prohibit chest rigs from IPSC rifle and shotgun. While in general, (my opinion is that ) Canadians would prefer to remain within IPSC as a whole, stupid PC notions like this are driving us ever closer to asking USPSA to accept a whole country as a new Area.
  13. So what's the feeling among Dillon users? Is the checker needed, or just a frill?
  14. I found the Dillon Carbide dies worth thier weight in unobtanium in that regard. The cases never stick with light lube, and the decapping pin is massive.
  15. No shame in asking before you spend your hard earned cash. I have never found a pistol powder combination that didn't feed through the Dillon powder measure well, so I've never bothered with the powder checker.
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong but, Station 1 is case feeding Station 2 is sizing Station 3 is swaging Station 4 is priming Station 5 is powder Station 6 is normally blank or powder check Station 7 is bullet seat Station 8 is crimp Now if the guy wants to keep the powder check, it might be possible, is the compromise of seating and crimping isn't a deal breaker. I don't know for certain if the bullet feeder column will clear the case feeder in that position. Also, as the Mr.BulletFeeder relys on the back up plug to open the case mouth, the regular powder feeder activator will have to be swapped for one from a 650.
  17. I'm going to look like a fool if I'm wrong, but I believe it can be done, but it requires the bullet feeder to be installed in station 7, and a combined seat and crimp in station 8.
  18. I get paid to make sure his applications don't freeze or boil your kids.
  19. I upgraded from my old Hornady Projector and bought a Dillon super 1050. Then I sold it and a ton of guns to afford a better house in a nicer neighbourhood. I purchased a used super 1050 a little over a year ago. I added the Mr.BulletFeeder 6 months ago. I'm expecting the PW Autodrive next weekend. (Thanks PJ Bad!)
  20. I've pretty much decided to go for it. If it plays out like I expect, the only risk is losing out on a promotion to a workplace that is chaotic and remaining at a job that's likely to become chaotic.
  21. So it looks like at the end of the summer, my boss may be transfered. I've had such a good working relationship with her, it's unlikely her replacement will be able to meet or exceed her standard. As a foreman in a union environment, having a manager who knows how to give me the tools to do my job properly is a godsend. I've got a problem child staff member who eats into my day with regularity, dealing with his defects and managing his quirks. As it happens, the foreman at the workplace closest to my home is retiring in October. It's a bigger place. The job is far more supervision and less grunt work. The pay is better. There is more opportunity for overtime. My back and shoulders are telling me this is a good idea. The downside is instead of one problem child, I'd be supervising several. I figure I'm a fool if I don't try for it. It's not like the extra cash and smaller work load won't be welcome. Worst case scenario is I don't get the job and stay put.
  22. If you get frustrated, contact Arwen Ace (Casey) on the other place. He's damned good at getting Remington's to run slick.
  23. I was planning on it. Only major revision to my current bench is I'm moving the press to the left hand side of the bench. RePete had suggested mounting the power bar up high on the wall to tidy up the bench. Sounds like a sound idea. I had deliberately left shelving off the to-do list when I built it. I figured I'd live with it for a while, and see where I needed them.
  24. Powers Custom offer a combo deal on the Mr. BulletFeeder and PW Autodrive. That and a new or used 1050 puts you in the ballpark price range.
  25. While it sounds like you would be well served by a .40S&W, you asked about a 9mm suitable for Production and Limited. What I use is the STI GP6. It has an excellent trigger right out of the box, and extremely tame recoil. If you live in a free state, it comes with 17 round mags (when shooting limited minor) It's grip feels a heck of a lot better than the Glock in my hands. The CZ SP01 is an excellent gun. If you prefer steel frames, check it out. If you like polymer, get your hands around the STI GP6.
