Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I use Montana gold CMJ or FMJ 230 g bullets, found the price difference from lead or plated was not that great - unless you shoot thousands of rounds/month.
  2. Does anyone have a formula for making their own polish?
  3. 2nd - call Brian. Tell him what you told us and what you think you might like to spend. Given how much you shoot, I would recommend a Dillon and Brian is the best resource to help you choose which one.
  4. Thanks ordering just a seating die might be the ticket
  5. I have issues when I load lead bullets with wax build up inside seating die and causing issues with OAL. I don't have Dillon dies for my 38 spl, which I may end up getting. For now I have RCBS cowboy dies that I had before getting the 650, and it is a pain to pull the seating die out every 100-200 rounds to clean, then having to reset..... Any thoughts on what you all do, and what a good solvent is for bullet lube? Thanks
  6. I have a 650 and for the life of me can't find the list of calibers that the different casefeed plates work with. The instructions on caliber conversions in the manual list whether you need the spacer or not (38 spl) but I can't find the list of calibers for each plate. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  7. I just bought one, have yet to use it in a match - but I think another advantage of the long, is that you can use it for 38/357 as well - 8 shot.(or so I have heard - I don't have one, but it is on my list)
  8. Works great Too! How do you get the Uniquetek part in without the powder starting to spill out all over the place? When you pull the powder bar out doesn't the powder just start draining all over? I love Uniquetek stuff, just wanted to know how this one worked. Thanks
  9. Another option would be to try and fire the rounds out of another gun. Probably obvious, but I thought I would throw it out there.
  10. That is what I do, but the 230 g FMJ or CMJ from MG, not much more expensive at all.
  11. Thanks I will probably stick with how I do it, but maybe exchange the SDB for 45 ACP etc because I reload those alot and hate swtiching back and forth....
  12. I recently won a SDB in 45 C. I reload for cowboy shooting on a 650, as well as lots of other calibers. I am considering keeping the SDB to reload my cowboy loads, but have a question regarding the style of the dies. I use Dillon dies on my 650 for the cowboy loads, and really like them because I cast and lube my own bullets and end up having to clean the seat and crimp die fairly often. My question is: Do the SDB dies have drop free inserts like the standard dies? (I don't want to open the box in case I end up selling it and can't tell from the picture on the Dillon website) Thanks for your time
  13. I have a MEC 600, and reload for cowboy shooting (black powder shot shells). I used to reload on it for sporting clays etc, but determined that it just wasn't cost effective. In fact when I quit I could actually buy Rem gun club 12 ga (or 20 ga) for less than it cost to reload! And that was before lead went out of control - of course ammo prices have gone way up as well. (I was paying $3.15/box). MEC makes a number of different presses (auto indexing 9000G vs the 600 series etc). If I wanted to be able to reload multiple gauges I would probably buy a 9000 for the one I shoot most, and one of the 600 or JR's for the other gauges.
