The 5.25 uses the same recoil system as the 4.5. Rich
-
The sight radius is longer so that has to be taken into account, the 4.5 has the same radius as a 5" 1911. When your shooting where is the front sight when the slide returns to battery? That is the question that will determine if a spring change is needed. Just remember if you start going too light in weight you will start to have malfunctions. The XD/m's aren't 1911's they are a totally different mechanical design. You can't totally eliminate muzzle rise and recoil, you just have to find the way to manage it to an acceptable level. Rich

Gary, You were the Area 5 director all this time, I thought you were just being a nice guy. Rich

If you shoot the XD/m's long enough you will get the "XD bump" on the side of your middle finger (strong hand). Rich

I hope "Sparky" doesn't see this he will have to get it. Rich

Cheap alternative for tungsten guide rod for 5.25
RIIID replied to KentG's topic in Springfield (XD)
The 5/16" tungsten rod will make weight as long as nothing else has been added on. The 5.25 9mm comes up with .2oz under the weight limit. Rich -
Cheap alternative for tungsten guide rod for 5.25

I doubt it weighs the same as a solid tungsten rod. Rich -
The back of the grips can be hollowed out to loose some weight. Did the frame window under the grips get opened up? If not they can be opened up and get a good weight cushion so you don't have to worry about being over. The only other thing is to checkout the length of the dust cover rail to see if it is legal. I don't think a S_I modular gun will ever be allowed in Single Stack Div., the upper part of the frame is like a JMB design but the lower portion isn't. Caspian made insert panels for there HC frame and that one would have more of a chance of being used in SS but, I don't think it would be allowed either. These frames are designed to be double stacks not ss adaptable. Rich

Kensight(Keng) crimps the front pin in place, I've installed 100's of these since Bo-mar closed down. No problems to speak of, they also make many companies name branded sights. The next one would be the SV then the Wilson. Rich

A Springfield .40 is what your looking for. Rich

These hammer are great, I like the why George designed this hammer. I will be using this hammer when ever a commander style hammer is called for. There are some who think the Keonig hammer is just for race guns and won't accept it. Now we have a race hammer that looks like a carry hammer. Rich

Dave, I don't think they are using the battery cap screw holes, in the photo it looks like there is a plate on the bottom of the c-more. So they are using the two mounting holes as every other mount. Rich

Once the springs in the mags take a set it will become a little easier and as before polish the contact areas. Rich

latest front sight

I got most of mine, as usual the postal service tore it up in delivery. Rich -
The Ed Brown will work on an uncut Springfield frame(mil-spec/GI), the top of the tangs will not blend cleanly. If it has already been cut(.220) I use the S&A grip safety and I cut it for a higher grip. Rich

It can be done but it won't last very long, the springs are tweaked to the point they will fail and will be unreliable. The gun will start to double around the 300 round mark on average. It was too much of a pain to keep the trigger reliable. I won't do anything below #2 lbs for a customer. Rich

A couple of mods done to the shop gun. Extending the front cocking serrations and the slide tunnel was shortened for weight reduction. The slide also got the internal lightening cuts that the 9mm has and a couple it doesn't have. The slide has the bottom edges are rounded and 60 degree accent serrations on the side of the slide. The slide and barrel are finished in "Canyon Blue". Rich

There is no "True" mag well that doesn't require mods, besides to get a .40 to feel right when shooting the slide needs some weight taken off(Not Production Legal) and a stainless mag well will help balance the gun. So get another .40 and do it right for Limited. Rich

Basically I want Made in the USA stamped on it. I know not many do these days (other than its all over the S&W website) but in general I want a gun that could fit that mold. So by that definition I would say US forgings, US assembled By that you are eliminating one of the best forgings of slides and frames, Springfield Armory. The current NM prefixed guns are machined and assembled in the US. For other companies in the US I don't know where their raw steel is coming from. Rich
