  1. the shellplate sits on the base of the 1050. if you stand in front of the machine and at about the 1030 to 11 position, where the bullet driops down,,there is a small slot on the base. there is a small allen screw that is adjustable in that slot. what does it do? never seen this before and couldn't find it in the book. thanks for anyones knowledge.
  2. I have had svi, brazos, and a couple of other open guns. I finally settled on a Cameron gun that is as good as it gets. It runs like a fine tuned race car. My backup believe it or not is a barsto custom that they built for me . This gun is right there with my Cameron. Just phenominal.
  3. I bought one a handgun a few years back from a friend that had the eotech on it. it was just to heavy and I have nothing but cmores mounted on my guns now. but I do prefer just a single red dot though
  4. very nice, but beyond my abilities My grandson would probably like that. we will see
  5. armscor is putting a gun out similar to the edge and it should be out anytime. I don't know about the quality but their sales people said it should be a quality gun. Don't know what quality is in their eyes though.
  6. simple green in the sonic works. but so does the lube trick. It really makes it easier to clean the comp when it comes time. I have also tried the dremel with no problems at all.
  7. I use hs6, favorite is 7625. I read that 7625 was going to be discontinued this year because its to expensive. Ive got a lot of friends using autocomp and cant find any anywhere. Friend just told me a wholesaler in Denver is driving to Tulsa to pick up powder. He is limited to 10 lbs of autocomp and he has about 100 people on the wait list.
  8. I know some guys that shoot great in an ipsc match but have a problem with steel matches. Steel is a great teacher for speed and target acquisition. I shoot a lot of steel and hit every match that I can. A great help is two plate racks and two shooters side by side. You will learn to shut out the other shooter at the beep or the other shooter will beat you.. Steel is getting more popular every year. Shoot it
  9. I have used guga, ghost, cr speed and they have all worked fine. I had Hannu pick me up an SL3 a couple of years ago in Finland and I love it. I understand someone is now selling them in the USA.
  10. I have been using walnut/corncob for about 7 years now. I mix nufinish with rubbing alcohol to cut the thickness of nufinish and it does a great job. I also throw in a dryer sheet with my brass and it helps with any dust. Never had a problem with any of it.
  11. I always use hornady one shot lube on all my brass and let it dry for a few minutes. I also use nu finish car wax cut just a small amount with rubbing alcohol to thin it out. Let it run in the media for about 10 minutes and stir it up. It works great.
  12. Do you do exercises to increase your grip strength? I have my grandson doing them because he has small hands and they have helped him tremendously.
  13. I agree with sarge. I have learned to get my head back as fast as possible to eye the target before my body gets there in place. It has healped my times.
  14. My brother had the same problem you did and he went to an eye doctor that also happened to be a shooter. He had my brother doing drills that he said helped him a lot. Good to hear that
  15. Try this if you can. If you have access to a pair of plate racks and another shooter this will help you on your focus. Two shooters, each with their own plate rack. When the buzzer goes off you both shoot at your plates. I had a problem when I did the first couple of man on man shoot offs . I found myself watching the other guys plates while he beat me. Then after I discovered my problem was focus and blocking out other things I had a huge improvement. B class shooter? I am a b class shooter and this summer I placed first in many steel matches, including master shooters. I also took first in the state in the state steel speed shooting championship. Steel can teach you a lot about drawing, target acquisitioning and when to speed up and hit your targets. Draw and dry fire. Draw and dryfire. Check out berrys 1st big steel match coming up in april in st George Utah. Will be awesome.
  16. Wow, some great advice in benos "fundamentals and techniques" I found things in there that I just recently started doing that have helped me tremendously. I finally learned how to call my shots and it is already showing in my matches. These tips from benos are right on the money, don't blow them off, these are very sound tips that can help anyone having problems.
  17. Dry fire has been a real help this winter since we have seen a lot of matches cancelled due to below zero weather and snow. It has actually helped me as I got serious with it the last six months and will continue it.
  18. I shoot a lot of steel, started it to help me on my target transitions. If you are missing on a piece of steel, always start with slowing down. What type of sight are you shooting with? What caliber, type of gun also.
  19. I have a luppy 1x5 and a burris and I think they both work fine, except the burris is cheaper. I got the burris for cheap off of ar15.
  20. I have tried a couple of coatings on my guns, ended up staying with hard chrome, hard to beat
  21. I have a Cameron gun that is superb. But by the same token I have a backup gun that was custom built by a local smith in Colorado that is also superb. Wouldn't trade either one of them.
  22. My grandson has been shooting since the age of 2, I held the gun and he pulled the trigger. Very careful with lead and washing up. He began shooting steel matches when he was 6 with a ruger 22. He started shooting IPSC when he was 7 and joined the USPSA at 8. He is ten now and just started shooting open division. During all these matches he was DQed by me once and once by another RO for the same mistakes that adults make. When he started shooting IPSC there were those a little uncomfortable with him because of his age. But as he progressed he got better and he is a well known fixture around here now. He was even on the outdoor Shooting Gallery this past January. Yeah, Im proud of him.
  23. My grandson has been shooting since the age of 2, shooting IPSC since he was 7. I started him on local steel matches with ruger 22 and moved him to an xd9 when he started IPSC. He is now 10 and started shooting open about 3 months ago. Safety is number 1 with me and he knows it. He even gave a safety class at his school on guns when he was 9. He shoots a ruger 22 lite for rimfire challenge.
  24. Married with grandkids. My wife and I discuss out of sate matches and check to see what else the area has to offer. Example, St George, Utah. Zion canyon along with tons of other canyons. We usually spend a couple of extra days sight seeing and it works great for us.
  25. I don't wear camo but being a military town with four bases here, it does not bother me to see guys in uniform at the range. I do wear khaki 5.11s when I shoot because of the comfort level.
