  1. i need to replace springs in my svi sti mags, has anyone used wolff mag springs, any problems? thanks,
  2. Ive tried them all and I settled on camerons, works great and looks cool with the yellow, red, and orange anodized paint. Least I think its anodized, kept my quinn for backup.
  3. My grandson has been at the range with me since he was 3 years old, all safety gear mind you. Children have to be careful about lead, especially before the age of 7. My grandson is now 8 years old and has been shooting steel matches for 2 years and started shooting IPSC this past year. He shot in the state steel match here and shot better then some of the adults. This has been a work in progress with him though. I watch him and monitor everything he does because he is still just 8 years old. I drill safety into his brain nonstop. When I teach or certify others I hear numerous comments from others about his ability and knowledge. It depends on how much you want to put into it, but young children can be trained to learn safety, weapon control, and discipline.
  4. A few months ago I talked to personnel at dawson and brazos, I was inquiring about converting my 38sc's over to 9major. After I hung up I decided to keep what I got and am glad. Go to someone that shoots and has extreme tech knowledge and then decide.
  5. I have tried the standard and the canted mounts on both my open guns, several times. Pain in the ass going back and forth but worth the effort. It turns out that no matter how much I shoot the canted is more accurate. My standard mounts sit on the shelf now, try them both, find whats best. I like the cameron mounts, really slick.
  6. I had a setup similar to that on my first open gun and a GM told me that was a violent gun. Didnt know what he meant until I shot his open gun. Of course Im sure it had a lot to do with load recipe and other factors but it convinced me enough to get rid of it. Im sure there are the plus sides to that setup but I just didnt get it at the time.
  7. Isosceles is taught and used by military, police departments, and most of the top pro shooters. It has been proven time and time again on video that most people who are in a fire fight will revert to isosceles when in a fire fight. Don't forget the mobility factor, it is much easier to move in all directions when in the isosceles stance. Im sure the net is full of comparisons of the two stances.
  8. 3 o'clock position, usually is result of wrist flex or trigger finger pulling pistol to the right (usually when shooter has small hands or short fingers) 6 o'clock position is usually: 1) looking for hits 2) bringing pistol off target to soon 3) looking over top of sights. 4) sights misaligned 5) trigger slap
  9. i agree with smoothing the grip where your strong thumb goes. I had the same problem and it didnt take much to smooth it out. Its much easier now that I contoured it slightly
  10. i agree with pjb45, the 22 is an awesome way to go for practice. Even police depts are using them in practice now because of budget restraints. My target transition times got better when I started shooting my 22, which I have setup like my 38sc open gun. ruger 22 with a cmore.
  11. i read an article in front sight where they were using steel at an indoor range, i believe it was a bad weather state or possibly canada, where they were using tires to keep rounds from bouncing around. maybe archive front sight.
  12. two taps with the mallet and it came off. awesome
  13. My son bought a new xd9 this week, shot at a match today. Friend installed some type of recoil reducer spring and rod in it. Unsure of make. Went to take the slide off to remove the reducer after th match and the slide will not come off. Any ideas??? thanks
  14. I think everyone remembers their first match, good or bad. The knowledge you will get from other shooters will surprise you. My shooting partners are like my second family, which is true for most shooters I believe.
  15. Jaredr,,,,, thanks for your response. That is exactly what was wrong. I appreciate your help...
  16. i have a new super 1050. I took off the sawtooth rachet. Now I cant get primers to feed off the primer slide. It appears that when I index everything is working except the primer slide does not move at all. Im sure it is something stupid Im doing wrong but what? Thanks for your help

  18. I have had my grandson shooting since he was 4 years old. Last summer, at the age of 7 he took first in the youth division here in colorado in steel challenge. He can also shoot my 1911 45 acp, AR15's and my competition master shotgun. He turned 8 this past december. I will tell you this, keep your kids lead free, constantly washing with leadout wipes. Also be aware that until age 7 they are very intolerant to any lead. Very important to watch the lead as we really don't have enough empirical data on what lead truly does for extended period of time. I am currently training him for IPSC and believe he will be awesome in that also. Yep, train them young
  19. I have a ruger MK III with a tactical solutions barrel and a c-more set up for open division for steel. I also have an open gun set up for 38 supercomp and shoot both guns on our steel matches. I have never had a problem with switching from 22 to 38 which is what I do at steel matches. My 22 is an awesome running gun and smooth as can be. At first I had a real problem getting my mags to function properly and then polished my mag lips and they are flawless now.
  20. If you practice shooting while moving forward it makes it very difficult to lean back. Youc an practice this with live and dry fire. Slow deliberate steps as you shoot, this will help with your problem.
  21. I had my son make 10 stands out of PVC and used lathe to hold the ipsc targets. Drilled a hole through the front and back of the stands to anchor them with large nails in case of high winds. They work great and have been shot by anyone. In fact, I have given 5 of them away when at the range for others to copy and they like them also. PVC is great, cheap, and light weight.
  22. Dillon told me they do not care the dies for the 1050 in 9mm. Where can you order them from? I was very surprised. Does BE carry them? thanks,
  23. I have 2 SDB's and a 650. I think for the money that SDB is the best on the market. I have one dedicated to 9mm and once dedicated to .45 acp. You would be surprised at how much ammo you can load with these presses. Don't get me wrong, I like my 650 but am getting ready to switch to a 1050 with a bullet feeder to reduce my tennis elbow believe it or not. I'd tell my wife anything to get her to approve a 1050.
  24. I have a 650 and a SDB and have decided to sell them and move on to a 1050. My question is this, I will order a 1050 with 9mm setup. I will also have to purchase the setup for 38 super comp. Are any of the 9mm items usable for 38 supercomp or do I need to order a complete setup for 38 super comp? Thanks for your help.
