  1. Trees were a pain, but if you take your time you can get past the level. I can see myself spending alot of time on the computer (not like I don't already )
  2. I agree, with a plated 180gr bullet and 6.0gr unique run perfectly thru my Ultra Ten. Cronoed between 998 and 1020 fps, and the recoil isn't that bad either.
  3. What is this slide glide and where can you get it?? I've never heard of it before.
  4. Were having the same problem, guess it's just the sign of the times. All of our dead weight went a little over a month ago, and I can see another round coming next month. I'm safe for another couple of rounds. Some times it's nice knowing too much. Hope everyone out there keeps their job. On the plus side though.....more time to shoot................... or practice anyway.
  5. I do basically the same thing, I'll rack the slide a couple of times (one of my good habits ), show clear while holding the slide open in my weak hand, let the slide go forward slowly, hammer down and holster. Dropping the slide on an empty chamber can cause more problems than what it's worth, and most manufactures don't recommend it. It's plain not worth taking the chance. Would you beat on your gun with a hammer?? basically the same thing.
  6. We have a local guy named Richard Stillhard. A local morning show radio host tried to get a hold of him. Every time they called he would just hang up on them. Bet he's heard it all!!
  7. Yup, It's called "can't close the door"
  8. I'm not wishing for anything out of the ordinary, I have too many safe queens already. just looking to get some fun guns now. 625JM (I should have bought the first one I saw, I'll never find another deal like that $600 NIB) Beowulf upper Colt python 4" or 6" Auto Shotgun (haven't decided on a specific one yet) Colt SAA 4 5/8 in 45
  9. You definitely get the Big Brass Ba!! award!! I'm really impressed with the way it turned out. I have to ask.......what is your next project?????
  10. I know exactly how you feel, well almost. I was in a rush to make a match last week, and like you I had everything laid out everywhere. In that rush I grabbed everything but my back-up gun. Needless to say I couldn't shot back-up. I felt stupid after loading up my mags and putting all my gear on to find out I had no gun... Hope you get your gun fixed soon!!
  11. I'm going to have to side with zhunter. I shoot a .45 in single stack but if I had to do it all again, I'd go .40. If you are able to try a few that you interested in and pick the one you like the best. That will work out better than any of the advice we could give. I shoot a Springfield loaded, I do better with that than I do with the Colt that I spent almost twice as much for. A good friend of mine shoots a Kimber and he's very happy with it. Welcome and good luck
  12. Bought the wife a car. (now she's on the road to her gilfriends in CT ) Bought her a GPS too. (now I don't mind her telling me where to go ) She bought me a truck. (I traded my old one for a motorcycle ) As soon as I can steal the GPS away from her the SV is going to Dan Bedell. Spoiled the grand kids. (Gave the kids a break, most of them don't make noise ) ...But the only thing that really made my Christmas is when the youngest grand son gave me a big hug and didn't let go. Don't think I have alot of money, we've been saving for most of this for a loooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnggg time. All of the gifts mean nothing wthout family to share it with.
  13. Merry belated Christmas and Happy New Year to all Shoot 'em up!!
  14. Used to load exactly like that until bear creek disappeared from the web. Now I use 180gr. copper plated with 4.2 Titegroup. Think I'm going to bump it up though, the crono will have the last say on the subject.
  15. Now I don't feel like a total idiot...........................
  16. +1 I'm betting on that since gas and other commodities are slowly going down, bullets will do the same once the christmas wallets start to close.
  17. This is the front sight that I use on my limited gun. Its a .100 wide and very bright even in low light. You can find it here: SVI FO Front Sight I got the red and I like it more than the green, but I guess that is personal preference. There are alot of different ones out there, just make sure you get the right one for the cut you have on the slide. I went thru about 5 of them until I found the right one. Good Luck.
  18. I have an SVI Infinity that I bought used. When I first got received it ran great. Lately it not running up to par (many of you may already know form some of my posts) I've tried to correct all I can with my experience, but every time I fix something, it causes something else to go wrong. It just may have seen better days and is in need of an overhaul. My question is: Should I send it back to SVI?? -or- Should I send it out to a custom shop? If I send it to a custom shop, who would you recommend?
