  1. That's good to know. I thought it was just me....
  2. +1 I saw it the day after it opened. I thought it was great. Really captured the spirit of the book. I'll be major disappointed if parts 2 & 3 aren't made.
  3. I knew a fella (active shooter) who festooned the rear of his car with anti gun stickers. Called it camo.
  4. Point Blank - Lee Marvin ventilating that mattress with his four inch S&W Model 29. Oh yeah!
  5. I've been checking Powder Valley for primers for over a year now. They have the same message up there about being 50 million behind. Never tried to submit an order - figured it would be a waste of time. Am I totally wrong on this (I hope so!). Anyone know who has primers in stock nowadays? Thanks
  6. Forgot to mention that I racked the slide, but all the R/O saw was the slide down and that empty mag hitting the ground. He missed the slide rack. Oh well, sometime these things happen.
  7. Been dinged for this myself a few times. Once I got really hosed. Mag I was using failed to lock the slide back when the gun went dry - I dropped the mag and inserted a fresh one. You guessed it - 3 seconds more to my score.
  8. Keep checking your rear view mirror when you drive home tonight. I expect you'll be seeing the flashing lights of a police cruiser. After all, you DID steal that thing!
  9. About to enter my 39th year as an engineer for the telephone company. The big nasty phone company with the "Death Star" logo
  10. But when the president ends the war in Iraq and Afghanistan this year - then all that 5.56, 7.62 & .50 will be coming home - er, right?
  11. CDP - Marksman SSP - SS ESP - SS Never had any use for revolvers. They're for dinosaurs! You know - the self-deluding old guys who watched too many westerns when they were kids. My IDPA membership expired a few months back & there ain't that many IDPA matches in my neck of the woods here in Iowa anyway. Got laid off from my job last month so I won't be travellin' to any distant matches. So for me the IDPA game is going to be on hold for quite a spell... Looking forward to goose season this fall though. Geese are damn tasty if you know how to cook 'em right.
  12. I too use a Dawson Ice on my G34 for ESP - but I retained the brass plug. I painted it flat black so as not to call attention to it. I've used it in several major matches w/o issue. The gun is a snug fit in the box, but it does fit. So, I suppose I'm cheating, but my IDPA skills are a threat to no one - so I don't see a problem. If I had a plastic plug then I'd use that. I just think the rule on this is flat out stupid. If I ever catch grief on this then I'll have a friend make up a replacement plug out of either Ti, fossilized feces or depleted uranium. Can you tell that this bugs me?
  13. brass powder books beer cheese toilet paper (There's a joke in there somewhere.)
  14. Jeremiah Johnson The Matrix A Christmas Story (I start watching this the day after Thanksgiving and continue until early January - Don't shoot your eye out!) Blazing Saddles The Princess Bride Dirt Harry Cat Ballou (Jane before she lost her mind) The Great Escape Second Hand Lions Star Wars (the original) Indiana Jones (the original) Dr, Strrangelove It's a Wonderful Life Apollo 13 Lonesome Dove Braveheart The Natural Airplane Patton Rescue Dawn (if you haven't seen this one - you must!) Batman Begins It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown The Wallace & Grommet series The Village The Terminator Unforgiven The Road Warrior The Outlaw Josey Wales Full Metal Jacket The Gangs of New York There Will Be Blood The Sherlock Holmes series with Jeremy Brett ........................................................................... & probably a few others if I thought about it
  15. I figured they were just swamped with orders, so I'm using this waiting period as a patience testing device. They'll get here eventually, I just hope I can remember why I ordered them when they finally do arrive!
  16. This Spring I put a C-More Railway on one of my revolvers (S&W 64 with a very heavy bbl & under lug). I had no problem getting it zeroed and happily shot it for several months. But this week I took it out to check the zero before lugging it out to a match. Oops! Point of impact was now about 8" high and another 8" wide of the point of aim. Is it common for C-Mores to detune themselves like this? It took a lot of effort to get the zero back, but now I don't trust it at all. Very frustrating! Are C-Mores susceptible to temperature fluctuations? I get the feeling that there's a lot more about C-Mores that I need to learn. BTW - the temp this week was near 90. And no, I didn't drop, bang or otherwise abuse the gun or the dot.
  17. I have a back order for 147 9mm from PD dating back to early March. Every few months they send me a message telling me they are working on it, but thus far - no bullets at my door. Am I the only person whose been waiting on PD like this? I'd like to hear if others have either had the same experience or if they've been fortunate enough to receive a delivery lately.
  18. At a big steel match today I ran several hundred rounds through my open Glock. We were limited to 10 rounds per mag, so I had to do a lot of mag changes. Here's the punchline - before the match I examined my grip and saw that I was indeed riding the slide release with my right thumb. So during the match I made a conscious effort to keep the offending thumb where it belongs and whaddya know? The problem disappeared! I had 100% slide lock with all my mags. I'm a happy man! Thanks to all of you who took the time to help me out!
  19. I saw the handgun episode twice. Gunny made me cringe every time he handled a gun. Also - the only time he bothered to wear eye protection was when firing the MGs. What a maroon! I had expected better. +1 on not all military & police knowing how to shoot and handle guns safely. Not to generalize, but some of the biggest jerks I've run into on the range have been ex cops and ex mil. Egos way more finely tuned than their gun handling skills!
  20. I'm getting inconsistent slide lock results with my Glock mags. Sometimes the gun will go to slide lock and sometimes it doesn't. All this with the same magazine(s). I've tried about 14 different Glock mags and they behave this way. This happens even with brand new mags. All the mags are Glock OEM. The gun is a 9 major built on a G22. Using a G17 extractor and a KKM bbl. I'm thinking it must be caused by the gun --- or I'm doing something to cause it (loose grip?) Looking for a clue here folks - thanks.
  21. Don't think PD makes a CMJ bullet. No matter - PD has no stock these days, nor does Zero. That leaves you with MG. I use MG exclusively. Great product and they are currently available. They arrive at my door within 2 days of ordering even though it's a long way from Montana to CT.
  22. The long wait is almost over. I just got the open Glock (with finish reamed chamber) back from the builder. Taking it to the range tomorrow with chrono and test ammo in tow. Will report on my findings.
  23. Saw the movie last night. Mildly amusing, but definitely NOT LOL funny. But then again, I'm probably too old for that type of flick.
  24. That's absolutely correct. I was talking to Doug at a match yesterday and I mentioned this post. He confirms what we all suspected - he's still making holsters, but his day job has been keeping him tied up. He's hoping things at work lighten up soon so he can put more time into his holster business. Doug is a meticulous craftsman of the highest order and makes truly awesome holsters. I say that because it's true and not just because he's a buddy of mine. You should be able to reach him at tkwholsters@comcast.net Although it's true that it may take a while to get your hands on one of his designs - it's well worth the wait.
