  1. While over for Thanksgiving, my father-in-law said he'd like to start shooting if he could find a shotgun stock that fit him. He's tall and has a long neck. Most shotgun stocks would need to drop at the rear by about 4 inches to fit him properly. Any suggestions?
  2. I use 3 parts corn cob, 1 part brown rice, and a little NuFinish car wax. I've been very happy with the results.
  3. I looked all through the pet departments at two different Walmarts and never found any.
  4. Since there wasn't an option that read, "I can barely afford to load enough ammo keep up with our shooting schedule", I chose "When I get low". I also looked for an option like, "If I have 500 rounds loaded, I'm going to go out and shoot 400 of them....TODAY! (so I'm always *almost* out)"
  5. I've never measured, but it feels like I must position my eye closer than 3" to get a decent picture through my DMS-1.
  6. My M&P9 went 30,000 rounds on the original striker assembly without any failues to fire. I put a new striker assembly in "just because" and have not had any problems with that one, either. I would take the striker assembly out and see if there is anything obviously wrong with it. If not, clean, lube, reassemble, and test.
  7. As I understand it, you can carry but cannot drink while there, though...right?
  8. Oh well...disregard that PM asking for directions to your house, then.
  9. South Carolina will only honor resident permits from states that have as strict, or stricter, requirements to get a CWP as SC does. GA doesn't require the 8 hour class nor the proficiency qualification so SC won't honor GA's. GA won't honor SC's because SC won't honor GA's. As a SC resident, though, I can get a NH non-resident permit which GA will honor. People visiting SC cannot do something similar, though, as SC only recognizes resident permits from reciprocal states, not non-resident ones. For anyone who lives in SC, as well as anyone who wishes that they could travel to and carry in SC, please join: http://www.scfirearms.org/ They very actively fight for gun owners' rights in SC and also work toward making SC honor CWPs from other states. If you want them to be successful, they need your help.
  10. Here in SC it is state law that you cannot carry into a bank. I seem to recall hearing that Walmart posted "No concealable weapons" signs at one time and took them down when enough people complained. If your bank is confident enough that posting that is the right thing to do, I think you should post the bank's name so that other customers can (hopefully) voice their opinions with their feet the way you did.
  11. I recently shipped a handgun via the post office. At first, I left it in the truck while I went inside to ask if it was possible. They said yes so I got it and brought it in. I gave them a copy of the FFL to which I was shipping it, but they didn't even look at it. BTW, I do not have an FFL.
  12. I just ordered 3. I also took advantage of Mike's free shipping on orders over $100!
  13. How long do you leave the parts in a sonic cleaner?
  14. Happy Birthday, my friend! The banana guys dance for you!
  15. Cool! Next step...he'll be refilling primer tubes.
  16. I'm going to get a 20 gauge 870 for my soon-to-be 11 year old son. Primary use will be 3-gun, but also want to be able to shoot trap and skeet with it. He has shot a youth model and it fit him correctly. 1. Anybody know if this stock collapses down to be the same size as the youth model? http://www.remington.com/products/firearms...-shot_20-ga.asp 2. If I go with a Nordic tube extension, what is the ideal length for the barrel (and do they even come in different lengths)? 3. I don't believe the link above comes with a barrel outiftted for choke inserts. Should I be looking at a different model? TIA!
  17. No, neither one rings any bells....but I've rung my bell enough times that I don't always hear it, anymore.
  18. Also consider: http://www.atpguns.com/ I was pleasantly surprised at their selection and indoor ranges. No USPSA-style practice there, but better than shopping at the outlet malls!
  19. Mine is pretty sensitive about having your eye in just the right places to see through it, but once aligned, it is great.
  20. I hadn't seen that before. Thanks for posting that. It always amazes me how humble our vets are when you thank them for all that they've done. Last week I sold my house to a guy who served for 28 years in the Army. He was surprised and humble when I thanked him for that. Thank you to all of the rest of you vets for making it possible for the rest of us to lead the safe, comfortable lives that we do. I appreciate it every day.
  21. Very cool! Are you guys coming up to SC for the Toys For Tots match in December?
