  1. I've gotten several people to come to our competitions by discussing the matches with them when I've run into them at the local indoor range. When I talk to one who says they're there to get ready for their periodic qualification, they don't seem as interested. In general, the people that are at the range because they want to shoot are much more likely to get involved than those that are there because they need to be. My sister is a cop and is a pretty good shot, but she has no interest in shooting, much less in shooting competitions. I've also gotten a few of the guys I work with to come out to matches. The ones who thought they were going to do much better than they actually did were the least likely to come back. Maybe I should have told them to expect less.
  2. Hey, Jack...names, please? I want to make sure I do what I can.
  3. Thanks! Next time I'll note if I am seeing that. I haven't noticed it before.
  4. I got a couple of the Arredondo mag extensions for mine and have been pleased.
  5. When taking the primer system off to switch between large and small pistol primers I immediately dump them out of the top into a primer flip tray and put them back into a primer pickup tube.
  6. OK....this was a mistake! I finally got around to sorting the mess that I had "washed" in the cement mixer. I have never seen so many cases locked into others before. I had a surprising number of .45s with .40s in them with 9s in them with .32s in them with .22s in them! On top of that, all of the tumbling allowed the water and dirt to jam them together tight enough that I had to use needle nosed pliers to separate many and ended up throwing a bunch away that I damaged in the process.
  7. What OAL are you using? I've never had that problem and probably a 4th of the 30,000 rounds through my M&P9 have been 129gr LRN that are .356 loaded to 1.125 OAL.
  8. When I did that it was because I was using too much of my trigger finger. When I moved it out and started using just the pad to pull the trigger, I quit pushing them to the left.
  9. Are you less comfortable because you are standing or becuase the press is too low when you're standing? How about a taller chair? I have my 550 with a strong mount bolted on a section of 2x12 which is then bolted to the countertop. It raises it higher for me and makes it portable if I ever loan it to a friend who has threatened to get started reloading. I've got some boards that I lay on the floor when my short friend uses it.
  10. http://www.dillonprecision.com/#/articles.html They don't have October up, yet, but they have some of the previous ones.
  11. I make it a point to write down my hit factor from the classifier before I leave the match so I can look it up when I get home on http://www.classifiercalc.com
  12. Steve ... your listings go by bullet weight, but do not include composition. Are the ranges the same for lead and jacketed? Thanks!
  13. I'm right at that point, now. I remember being surprised at how much flash I saw recently when shooting a .357 Magnum, but I don't really see any flash when shooting my M&Ps. I also don't really see the sight "lift"...I would describe it more as it jumps to a higher place and I see it fall back into place. Does it sound like I'm blinking really fast and able to see the flash from the revolver only because it lasts longer? Do you really see the front sight lift or does it jump (like mine appears to)? Thanks to all for the great info posted above. I'll try firing into the berm to see if I can see more today.
  14. Well, not embarrassing, but certainly humbling getting to shoot right after a Grand Master. Thank you for your patience today, Robbie. For those of you that could have come and didn't...start kicking yourselves NOW! I haven't done many, but that was far and away the best 3-gun match I've attended. Lots and lots and lots (did I mention lots?) of targets. Some fast and easy, some far and requiring accuracy. Lots of movement, lots of chances to funble my shotgun reloads (I may have dropped more than I shot)....just great stage designs. The mix of small targets for rifle, large for pistol, and clays/poppers for shotgun made the maze of stage 3 a bunch of fun. Thank y'all for putting on such a great match. When is the next one?!?
  15. 8:30?!? Will you call me so I can make it? J/K...I'll get up on my own and make my way up there to be embarrassed.
  16. I would suggest going by Allen Arms, too. http://www.allenarms.net/ They rent many different guns and the cost of a rental can go toward the purchase of a similar gun. They even do a $25/day rental where you can try all of their rental equipment.
  17. I had inconsistencies when I had the seating stem upside down in the seating die on my 550. I was using the wadcutter stem on round nose bullets.
  18. I had an FNP9. It's a little tougher to be competitive with it as it takes practice to get good at the first double action shot, but it's a great, reliable gun. I regret selling mine.
  19. How about it, Brandon? You going to make it?
  20. Brandon... Linda wrote the article I sent you the link to yesterday. Linda... Bring your open gear, too, as I'll be there to help enter scores. Leam... Do you come down to Columbia?
  21. Is this it? http://www.antiterrorconsultants.org/brass_magnet.htm
