  1. If you don't want to spend $285 for the Kidd complete drop-in assembly https://www.coolguyguns.com/KIDD-Single-Stage-Trigger-Unit-Drop-In_p_29.html and you're not sure if the Kidd Trigger Job kit https://www.coolguyguns.com/KIDD-Trigger-Job-Kit-with-Hammer-Sear-Disconnect-and-Trigger-blade_p_95.html will work with the Magnum Research trigger housing, there are always stripped Ruger trigger housings on on Fleabay https://www.ebay.com/itm/144065673651 Numrich https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/288440A or complete Ruger trigger assemblies on S&P Outfitters https://sapoutfitters.com/product/ruger-1022-complete-trigger-group-extended-mag-release-new-oem/ Kidd Trigger Job kit $127 Fleabay housing $27.29 S&P complete $44.99 Put the Trigger Job parts in the Ruger polymer housing and save $100, or just buy the Kidd compete assembly either way will be a very good trigger. 2. Good to hear, I guess I'll send mine in. Nolan
  3. Interesting. Where did you buy? Nolan
  4. You forgot Y. eet Cannon Nolan
  5. I wonder if the RO confused the Pistol rule of holstering a loaded pistol with the safety off? Still not a valid excuse for the described behavior. Nolan
  6. Flip the failing round around and insert them rim first into the case gauge. That will show you where they are failing, adjust or change your process. Nolan
  7. During the previous great primer shortage, or was it the one before that? I bought a bunch of Winchester small (rifle or pistol? can't remember which) that had an occasional oddly sized or shaped primer that would somehow get wedged in a primer tube. I haven't had problems with stuck primers before or after that batch. I also had more than a few crunched primers trying to seat them, they worked fine once loaded. Again, haven't had that problem since. Nolan
  8. There have been at least a couple of posts here about ejected rounds detonating after landing on gravel at unload/show clear and I think there was also at least one about a round detonating after landing on reloaded rounds in the catch bin when it was ejected from the reloading press. Nolan
  9. If I had a $1 for every primer tube I've simply thrown out because of a stuck primer....I'd certainly have zero cents.......Oh wait, that sounds like......oh, never mind. Nolan
  10. Their FFL expires today 1/1/2023. https://www.ffldealernetwork.com/perry/southeast/big-bend-outfitters-llc Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "Verify License" button which will take you to the ATF verification site. Nolan
  11. LOL! Don't feel like it's just you. Everybody's comments were ignored. Nolan
  12. Wow! Seriously, if it's just one primer, it's not exactly a live hand grenade. A tube full of primers is a different matter, but for just one primer, and you want to save the tube. Just gently clamp the opposite end of the tube in a vise so the other end is pointed in a safe direction and gently heat the primer end of the tube with a propane torch. It'll pop so you may want to wear ear pro and eye pro, but unless you melt the tube with the torch, the tube will be fine to use after it cools down. Now to wait for internet to explode. I've removed stuck primers this way several times. Nolan
  13. Wow! You took the thoughts right out of my head! I shot some 3 Gun back in the day, but back then it was mostly a rifle stage, a pistol stage, a shotgun stage, repeat. This was back at the tail end of the Soldier of Fortune matches and unfortunately I didn't take the opportunity to go. Like you I saw 3 Gun Nation on TV and it made me want to get back in on the fun. Unlike many "Shotgun is my favorite power tool" to quote the infamous Pat Kelley. Nolan
  14. Point? We don't need no stinking point! To paraphrase the 1974 Blazing Saddles paraphrase of the 1948 Treasure of the Sierra Madre paraphrase of the 1927 novel of the same name. I've built guns that really didn't have a point other than because I wanted to build it, one was so pointless, Mike Voigt told me "If you tried to rob a bank with that thing, you'd have to shoot someone before they took you seriously!" Oh, and I want to thank Hamco Engineering for helping with the machining, and Competition Gun Works for the advice on making the trigger. Nolan
  15. I remember the good ole days, yeah right! The range in Norco, Ca. used to host some major matches that were 'staff' reset. The first year the 'reset staff' was a local high school girls basketball team. Southern Cal in the summer time, oh my! The reset staff was paid a small wage and got all the brass to resell to the shooters. The line to buy back brass was quite long. LOL! Word spread and the next year the match sold out almost immediately....that year the reset staff was the BOYS basketball team......Oh well, at least the wives were happy. The matches were quite successful. Set-up and tear-down were done by a hired crew. If you wanted to help reset, it was quite welcome, but not required. I've been to couple of matches where competitor reset was NOT allowed, but most have no problem with extra volunteer help. Nolan
  16. Same factory, does not necessarily mean same production line, Quality Control specifications, or component specifications. Nolan
  17. Yes, No, and Maybe! Yes, you can use the barrel to check your ammo. No, it won't catch all the bad ammo. Maybe, you'll get lucky using the barrel to check your ammo and the bulged side of the case went into the barrel against the hood/top of the barrel and you caught the bad round. Maybe, you won't be lucky and the bulged side went in on the ramp side of the barrel and dropped all the way in, or the out of round/gouged rim went in on the ramp side instead of the hood side. Want to gamble on which orientation the bad round will go into the barrel at a match? A case gauge that is tighter than the chamber and checks the full circumference of the case and rim, WILL catch the bulged case, or damaged rim, EVERY time. For the small cost of a good case gauge and exactly the same amount of time as using the barrel, a case gauge is a good investment. Nolan
  18. The gas system dumps the excess gas inside the handguard which is open back into the upper receiver. Even unsuppressed the stock charging handle lets quite a bit of gas past. The Next Level Armament charging handle and lifter block work well on the MPX. The lifter block does block some of the gas from passing the charging handle. Nolan
  19. I thought the lower the power factor the higher the number locking pieces?? Nolan
  20. I agree! It is important to clean the chamber to eliminate the carbon ring that forms right at the end of the case mouth. The rest of the barrel can just be swabbed out unless you get heavy lead build up from shooting cheap ammo like Remington Thunderbolts. I use a bore snake with the brass brush removed. As far as the ultrasonic, use a solution specific for firearms like Lyman, Hornady, etc... rather than simple green. Nolan
  21. Still not a good idea to build props that encourage sweeping yourself. Sweeping your hand is bad enough, but a prop that could lead to sweeping/knocking a pistol towards your head is another matter entirely. It's happened before with very, very bad results. Forum etiquette may disallow discussion of said incident. Nolan
