  1. I remember in the December BOD meeting minutes Kim said her goal was to have it done by April 1st. That seemed very ambitious. I agree that it is better to do it right the first time.
  2. Here is a good example. From the 2010 Monster Match.
  3. We should probably move the "box" discussion to it's own thread, but I was very confused by Amidon's article. In a long course, does your shooting area have to be 1 continuous zone? If you have 2 zones, do they have to be non-rectangular in shape? JA's definition of a box seemed pretty broad to me. Nobody wants to run from this 4x4 box to the next 4x4 box, but what was described in the letter sounded pretty reasonable for a field course.

  5. 8.6.1 doesn't allow you to give a shooter a pass on a DQ.
  6. According to the last issue of front sight, any form of box is illegal in a long course, so you couldn't use your shaky bridge if it has fault lines around the perimeter.
  7. Moved to the "bugs or feedback" forum.
  8. Required? I don't see that in the rulebook. I rarely see mags checked, but if they are, it is only the mag the competitor hands the official.
  9. so have I. sometimes just the threat of it keeps people honest. Sorry, had to laugh at the irony of such a post by a guy with the screen name of Sandbagger123. Cheaters gonna cheat, those with integrity do so regardless of the "threat". Yep and a few will get caught because they have 3 methods of collecting your ammo. They will collect 8 at the first stage and then: 1. Shoot the ammo collected. 2. Shoot ammo that you have in your ammo bag when you arrive at the station. 3. Grab a mag off your belt and shoot what is in it. So anyone that tries to cheat the system by handing in hotter loads or slightly heavier bullets with the initial collection still will get caught if they use either method 2 or 3. I have seen stations where they used all 3. I've never seen anything except method 1 used.
  10. I haven't seen the movie in a long time either, and I am really enjoying the series. I plan to go back and watch the movie after I finish the TV show.
  11. I'm glad to hear there are people signing up for the waitlist. I talked to several SC's here in the southeast and most of us (South Carolina was the exception) had unused slots that were returned to HQ.
  12. That's pretty much the center of downtown. You will have to drive a decent distance in any direction to get enough land for a range in your backyard.
  13. There are options in all directions, some better than others. What part of the city do you plan to work?
  14. I don't have the details, but it sounds like 1.2.17 has a bug that caused some issues at the SC sectional this weekend.

  16. Allowing 8 shot revolvers seemed trivial too, but we see how that turned out.
  17. If the BOD is going to consider this division, there are a couple of problems that must be solved: 1. What do you do about guns having to fit in the box? 2. What do you do about guns having to make weight?
  18. I'm sure similar arguments were made back when the Production division was formed. I don't know if there is enough interest to justify a new division now or not. I don't think it hurts to have a discussion, and possibly poll the membership.
  19. Changes to existing divisions can only occur every 2 years. I don't think that has any impact on a new division. We had changes to L10 and Limited in 2013, and then changes to Revolver in 2014. So it's not like changes to one division freeze all division changes for 2 years.
  20. I don't understand that? Why does Chris say we have to wait 3 years? I don't see anything in the bylaws or the rulebook that lists such a requirement.
  21. My recommendation: If you contact your AD about production optics, focus on the new division. There's nothing that says we can't have 7 divisions. If other divisions need to go away, that is a separate discussion. I would also suggest this division be identical to the current production division, with the addition of a slide ride optic. If you want to "fix" what you think is currently broken in production, I think that also should be a separate discussion.
