  1. What good is a new division to the manufacturer's that pushed it if it doesn't make people buy new guns? Is there any evidence that a manufacturer other than Phil's new employer wanted a plastic only gun division?
  2. Would showing up at nationals with a gun you know doesn't meet division requirements qualify as Unsportsmanlike Conduct?
  3. I just can't get behind CO when we already have open division. I have always seen it that way. No it doesn't hurt me. I have been called a hater from day one yet I get chastised for joking and using WO which I copied by the way. All that does is reenergize my contempt for it. It just doesn't make sense to me when guys say open is too expensive yet I can buy 2 RTS2 for what some guys are spending on an optic to put on a $500 gun. The cost of that optic wouldn't even cover the price of a good set of mags for your open gun. You admit you have contempt for the division, but can't understand why you are called a hater.
  4. I've always wanted to shoot a USPSA match with open squadding, just to see how it would work. I know there are parts of the country who do it successfully. Around here, I think you would struggle finding RO's willing to give up the day just to hold the timer at a L1 match. I don't think many people would hang around for tear down either.
  5. with all due respect (and this is the same comment I made last year), why should USPSA be making the effort to promote the division? IMHO, *you* are the one who should be making that effort, along with the other 6 people that lobbied intensively for a new division. If you expect someone else to do the work to make your pet project succeed, it is bound to fail. If I were you, I would start by promoting a big CO-only match, with a nice prize table and good sponsor support. How about a simple article in Front Sight talking about the new division.
  6. Considering CO isn't legal for a L2 match, I would say no.
  7. The BOD created a ruleset that didn't match what the 7 of us were asking for. AFAIK they didn't communicate the new division to SC or MD's, so if you aren't active on the internet, you don't even know the division exists. They didn't make it legal for anything but Level 1 matches. IMO, they did everything they could to kill the division right out of the gate. It will be interesting to see if participation increases after the next board meeting, where I think some of the above will be addressed. I am in favor of the division, but if participation doesn't increase, I wouldn't have a problem with it going away. I've only been around for a few years, but I don't know of any provisional divisions that weren't eventually turned into full fledged divisions. I'm only aware of 1 division going away (Modified in IPSC.)
  8. I agree. We may need more ranges and more matches, but we already have more shooters than most matches can suppport.
  9. Just to play devil's advocate, allowing PCC at a pistol match would require a pretty major re-write of the rulebook, not to mention educating RO's to the new rules. I'm not saying that is insurmountable, but its not like adding a new pistol division.
  10. sper, but some shooters have no class regardless of what division they are in...... As sper already said, Para's are junk, one day all the parts will just fall out of them. Since I have been shooting Glocks since 92, I would just buy 3 more G17's, but of the other choices for Production, the CZ's are kick ass. My shooting partner runs one. They have a couple of things that all the CZ guys fix, usually Cajon gun works or Agnus (CZ custom). I think they have way better triggers than 1911's. If you want to run Limited, then for low $$$ a Glock 35, for big $$$, an STI. I would add Mathew Mink's name to the list of CZ gunsmiths.
  11. Don't walk, but run away from anything made by Para. You can't go wrong with a CZ. You don't have to go all out on the Accu-shadow. Some of the lower cost CZ's work just as well.
  12. I'll be that guy. Classes are for shooters. Divisions are for guns.
  13. The show has had it's ups and downs. IMO, more downs than ups lately. This is their final season, and I think it will be fairly entertaining. Probably not much science, but interesting to watch.
  14. That would make more sense. The photo of the Shadow confused me.
  15. It was on the Science Channel. It can also be found here: I think any B class shooter could have busted the myth, but Travis is the man.
  16. The episode with TT is airing now as part of the new years marathon.
  17. I stand corrected. Season 2 was excellent.
  18. It will be shot in Carry Optics. Slide is milled 0.250 deep. With a 10 round mag 34.4oz, 16 round mag with plastic base plate 34.7oz I'm calling BS on that one. The accu-shadow is listed at 42 oz on the USPSA production gun list. You're running a heavier optic and heavier girps than I have on my 75b. Milling the slide for the optic isn't going to remove 7 oz.
  19. I agree. I go about once a year, when there is a movie that I feel justifies the full 3-d experience. I think the last movie I saw (before Star Wars) was Gravity. I will say IMAX 3-d is very impressive.
  20. Stock C Z 75B, out of the box (stock mag, sights.) - 34.3 oz Remove sights (front and rear) - 34.1 oz Mill Slide - 33.4 oz Install Jpoint Optic - 34.0 oz Replace factory mag with Shadow mag - 34.5 oz I'm not sure why the CZ USA site lists it at 35.2. The USPSA production list is accurate at 34.3 oz.
  21. How are you going to officiate that? Is an RO supposed to know how many rounds each make/model of gun/mag hold?
  22. Without giving too much away, I felt like I watch an updated version of "A New Hope." I was thoroughly entertained, but it wasn't very original. It didn't help that the projectionist had the volume set to 11, so I spent three hours with my fingers stuck in my ears so that it was only loud instead of painful. I think I'll watch "A New Hope" and "Empire Strikes Back" over the long weekend. The other 4 movies don't do much for me.
  23. I think that is what most RM's would decide, but I'm not sure I can find a rule to support the call.
  24. Hypothetical situation: Day one of Nationals my $4000 2011 breaks the extractor. The only thing I can scrounge up is a glock compact to get through the rest of the day. That night, I go back to the hotel room and replace the extractor. Can I go back to the 2011 on day two even if the glock is still serviceable?
