  1. Before it good bad I ordered 15,000 WSP, from back order - got them in 3 weeks, Placed another order before they stopped placing orders 4/23/09 and still no primers but not in a panick yet. A buddy of mine got his order that was placed 4/17 last week so they are shipping as soon as they can. Powder is still shipping unless you requested that the order be shipped complete. Hang in there it should be getting better sooner rather than later. I am seeing more ammo at Wally world granted only three boxes per customer but there is some on the shelf. I even saw .380 ammo on the shelf their the other night.
  2. We are trying to get a Max and Travis class in NC October 17 and 18. Just trying to pin down a range. More info to come if you are interested send a PM to SPERMAN. He is the one getting the class together.
  3. When I took the RO class the RO on the clip board is to count shots as a verifying count against the clock RO - They are to watch and confirm foot faults, procedurals and to watch the 180. The clip board RO can also give the stop command if they see/hear something that is not kosher.
  4. You will have to get a mag for 10MM to accept the longer loads. The 40 mags are for factory length 40 ammo. I think we have all done that and have a couple sitting in the safe to remind us. Trip makes a good one. Here is the link to their site. http://www.trippresearch.com/CVS/products/1911/1911.html
  5. I am not Howard or Bobby and I have ruined a couple of tubes trying to learn how to do this so take it for what it is worth. I had the samething on a Rescomp tube. I made the back of the feed lips .381 and taper to the front .384 or close to those measurements. It does hold the follower in place a little better and had to do the same thing to an SVI mag after I stepped on it in the garage. DOOOUUHHHH... The other thing to try is to get a piece of steel bar the size of the end of the spring that attaches to the follower and compress the spring several times in this manner to help give it the proper "memory" this will help it some as well. If all else fails sell the tube and buy an SV or ST tube they seem to like the Bolen spring and follower better than the Rescomp. Hope that this helps
  6. I tried some 200 Gr Zero's this weekend 4.2 TG and got 172.3 PF shoots very soft and groups amazingly well. I was wondering if any one out there has tried a load of 310 with a 200Gr. I have a ton of this stuff and thought there has to be a recipie at least starting for 310 and 200Gr. Thanks John
  7. Yeah they are pretty cool, Anne is considered high risk, because we have had unsuccesful attempts before so we have had several ultrasounds but this was the first one that you could see anything. It was sooooo cool to see the little arms and legs move. Made us both tear up a little - still to small to tell if a boy or girl, just want it to keep growing.
  8. Just a quick update - we are 11 weeks and 5 days, had another ultrasound Tuesday and all is good, got to see the arms and hands legs and feet, spine is good, has a brain so it is deffinately taking after me. We have another ultra sound scheduled for three weeks and then she will get turned over to her regular OB for the duration. Every day is a day further that she makes it and we still have a long road ahead of us but for now we are giddy with excitement. Thank you to all those that have responded and to those that have viewed thank you for thinking of us. It has been a long time in the making. We have done three rounds of IUI and none of that worked. It just happened on its own. I am so grateful for each additional day that with get with her/him. hope you all have a wonderful weekend. John Lovell
  9. Ok here is my new baby still in the white and not 100% complete. I am thinking about a ball cut down either side of the flat top finish will be hard chrome before too long. Specifics Caspian Slide STI standard frame Grip by Jim Hart Gunsmith: Jeff Abernathy, Mt. Holly NC.
  10. Wow I hate that you had to see that. People that are that determined to end their lives do not worry about what affects their actions have on others.
  11. Yeah I hear that a lot around here. I think it is funny when they say that a .380 is just going to piss some one off and not really do any damage. I have always wanted to ask if they were game to try it out.
  12. The only thing that has me concerned is that the finish holds oils and was wondering how it did attracting dirt and dust. I might just try a couple and see. What is another 15 on top of the $ to have them tuned. I'll keep you all posted as to benefit and if I think it is worth it. Thanks, John
  13. Has any one out there had a mag ion bonded? I was thinking of sending a couple to see how they would hold up. Any one have any expierence with them? Thanks, John
  14. First of all I have to thank the staff that assisted me on Stage 4. They were all great and it was a great pleasure to meet Mike, Tommy, Dan, and the MCRC volunteers. Mike, Tommy is a great boy and you must be very proud of him. I only heard yes sir, no sir and yes ma'am no ma'am out of him all day. I know he was tired but stayed right there pasting and setting the star. I really learned alot from you all as well. It has and will continue to make me a better RO and CRO. I also want to thank all the staff at the match. It was a well thought out and planned match. It is one of my favorites of the year and always on the calendar. I am looking forward to April 2010. The guys and gals that fed us and kept us in Gatorade and water deserve all the credit for keeping the staff motivated and working to get every one through the stages in a timely manner. I really enjoyed the green wraps that were provided to the RO and staff. It was like having a mini fridge with you at all times and it was great for you all to provide as much comfort to the staff as possible. I shot the match very well just need to work on my times and loosing 200 pounds. After watching Daniel shoot Stage 4 in 14.30 with a Lim gun and Chris shooting it in 14.06 with an Open gun. I am truly humbled by their preformances.
  15. good luck, I talked with the Cape guys about 3 weeks ago and asked when they would be shipping to Speed Shooters, he said well in about 2 weeks, not making the SS any longer to much mill time. Well Speed Shooters still does not have them and I hate to keep bothering Renee. I think they will be sold out as soon as they get them. BTW, I tried one of the SV aluminum and it is very small measured 1.612" wide very little flair and almost flat with the main spring. I think this is going to be the winner until I can try a Cape. I'll post pics in a week or so when I get the gun completed.
  16. +1 to Brazos, I bought mine from them and a 40 trojan, Ingi is great to deal with and will answer any questions you may have. I would still have the 5" but sold it several months ago to fund another project. One thing I would recomend and this has to do with resale is to start a journal with date time round count etc. It will help you to document all that is done to the pistol and will help with the resale. I did not do that with mine and probably undersold the gun but live and learn. Any way feel free to PM if you have any questions at all. Thanks, john
  17. One more full day until the match starts. I am so looking forward to coming down and working the match hopefully the weather men are wrong and we have a beautiful match day for the RO's
  18. I bought a really light weight monopod for shooting anything. It collapses to a piece that is small enough to strap to the underside of my camera backpack. Everyone wonders how I get such good pics all the time. I tell them it is just like shooting the more stable the platform the better the picture. Best 40.00 I ever spent.
  19. Just out of curiosity what was your favorite stage and what did you like about it. Trying to make some notes for what the shooters are looking for in stage design. Thanks and I am glad that all had a great time. Congrats to the winners, shooters and staff it was a great match. Looking forward to where and whenever the next Sectional will be.
  20. Is 3000 to much for a Lim gun probably but I did bite the bullet so to speak and I have a local artist Jeff Abernathy building me a custom Lim pistola based on the STI platform. After finish and all the work I will be right at that mark. I have gotten calls about every week or so giving updates and asking questions before the next step is completed. I have been very, very impressed with the speed at which this is being done. It took me about a year and a half to save enough to be able to pay cash for the new gun and now I can't wait till I get to drop the hammer on it and run full bore. Should be about 3 more weeks and I will have it in my hot little hands. So yes I am very excited and can not wait is 3000 too much yes but the smile it will bring this big old boy will be priceless...
  21. I wish I could post the voice mail he left me. He is pumped and ready for the match. All I can say is that I will not be betting against him like I did at Area 6. One dinner is enough... We will do our best to keep him straight but that is a tuff, tuff assignment...
  22. A group of about 10 of us drives about 3 hours each way to a match here in NC. But it is like shooting a sectional each month.
  23. SHHHH Keep this on the DL it will be back at Sir Walter in Creedmore next year and back in October...
