Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I read another post where by using mixed brass its possible to have varying OAL. I checked the 32 rounds and they all are generally .010 longer, however they stick out of the case gauge .070, so that could be one issue. when I flip the round in the case gauge to fit in, so it appears the brass is straight on both ends. I am already loading a longer round at 1.135, so how long is two long. The 32 rounds that wont fit range from 1.143 to 1.148. - I'm using all Dillon parts, I checked the brass after stage one on the press and it fit the case gauge fine, again the brass is mixed once fired from glock and the bullets are precision delta 200gr.
  2. Just reloaded a batch of 100, 40 caliber rounds on a Dillon 650. Once completed I checked all of them with a case gauge and 32 rounds did not seat all the way in. During the reloading I made sure the handle traveled the full distance up/down. I'm new to reloading so any suggestion would help. The brass is once fired from a glock, and I have heard of problems with case bulge, so I'm not sure if that's an issue.

    bomar ribs

Looking to shoot a competition with my Shadow Target Custom and one of the prohibited items for this competition is "Full-length Bo-Mar type ribs on the slide". Now this weapon does have groves on the top of the slide, I think its mostly cosmetic, but does anyone know if looked at by a RO would they consider it Bo-Mar ribs. I'm not familiar with Bo-Mar ribs, and I have only seen pictures of a few on revolvers so I am unsure.
  4. I have a 9mm 5" XD and I am looking for some smooth/accurate ammo which will be shot exclusivly at 25 yards. I am not worried about PF and I am not set up to reload at this time. I have been looking at a bulk order from percision delta, and for the type of shooting I want to do, I dont know the difference between 115g, 124g or 147g. Or the advantage between FMJ and JHP.
  5. Looking to get new sights for my tactical XD. I want to set it up for a specific event which is police practical shooting @ 25 yards combined with a 5k run. I understand its crazy but its an annual event and its a good time. Anyways Im very restricted in what I can have. It can't be "competition equipment" and it must be suitable for "duty use". In the past I have shoot my glock with warren tactical sights, which I think are good for speed and a mid-distance shot. Just looking for something a little more percise by trading in some speed on the sight.
  6. Looking to get a shadow for PPC, but after looking at a few pictures online I noticed groves which run from the rear sight to the front sight on the top of the slide. Are these considered 'Bo-Mar type ribs on the slide", this feature would make it illegal in PPC.
  7. My Trojan is chambered in 40 caliber, and Ive ordered some 180 grain long ammo to experiment with. The long ammo has a 1.185 OAL, and Ive scene where other shooters have reloaded longer and have been successfull. The problem Im having is the ammo will not fit into the magazine properly. Inside of the magazine appears to be a spacer along the back. Without the spacer the ammo will have almost to much space inside of the magazine. Does any one know the fix for this problem? Is there a Magazine I could purchase which caters to the longer ammo?
  8. Is there a general cheat sheet out there that gives a ideal use for each bullet weight. Ive sceen alot of different formulas catered to specific veneus, however its so much information I still dont have a good grasp. Example: for a 40 which runs typically 135 to 185, which end of the spectrum is good for accurate shots out to 30-40 yards on paper -vs- speed shots on steel at 15-20 yards.
  9. I already have a sig 220 DA/SA, and a glock 22 ( 8lb trigger per department rules ) and was looking to get a 9mm to try and use for the local competitions. My primary goal in looking for a new gun is to keep it as a production gun so I can shoot it in local police events ( which it must be a duty ready handgun / no competition equipment ) and IDPA events which are more frequent in my area. If anyone has seen or used a firearm which they think is better than the sig Im open to suggestions. I am slightly interested in the springfield xd tactical 5", but have not seen it yet. I know the glock is a good choice to, however I already have a 22 and 26, and Im not sure If I want a third.
  10. I looking at a new sig for some production class shooting (various sports, mostly IDPA). Ive narrowed to a Sig, but im not sure if I want the DAK version or the DA/SA. With all things being equal including the trigger weight set the same, is there an advantage to having one over the other?
  11. Has anyone out there shoot the world games, CA games or western games for law enforcement in the PPC categories? This will be my first time and I hoping to use my STI Trojan 5". According to the registration they have "Duty" and "Production" listed for use. I have read the rules, and to the novice it seems the trojan could fit into either category. But, Id hate to travel to the other side of the world with the wrong gun.
  12. I have sceen "Bo-Mar type ribs on the slide" advertised on some 1911's. Is this different than a Bo-Mar adjustable rear sight?
  13. I looking for a 1911 in 9mm. I need a 9mm so it can be used for both work and competition. I have only sceen a few on the market such as Kimber gold match, or Aegis. Les Baer can be chambered in 9mm on select models. I would like one which can hold 1.5" at 25 yards. Accuracy is a key feature Im looking for.
