  1. Interesting. I just ordered some PD 124 JHPs to try out with Prima V and N320. Hopefully my loads won't look like a black powder festival.
  2. The one I have works 95% (I get an occasional sideways primer that requires dropping of the primer tube {about 4 seconds} to clear) on CCI and probably like 60-80% with Winchester primers. Overall I'm not going to complain, in aggregate it saves time when compared to the 'stab and stack' method.
  3. After wet tumbling to clean (~45 min) I rinse an tumble with clean water for another 30 mins. During the second stage I use a bit of liquid car wax to keep the cases moving well through the progressive press.
  4. I just realized the OP started this thread 1+ years ago. I hope he's found his answer by now
  5. If I remember correctly, these 147s get seated pretty deep, 1.070-1.080
  6. I have the same lot# of Prima V. 7. ICE brand synthetic car wax works well too for those that wet tumble. Just don't get too carried away, as fluffy powders will stick to the inside of the case, making powder measurements (insitu) difficult at best.
  8. I realize you came here looking for an answer to AI cases, however once fired 9mm brass is pretty cheap too.
  9. Don't blame you one iota my friend. If I saw $90 on the ground I sure wouldn't hesitate to pick it up.
  10. From Dillon's website: If you have a Mr Bulletfeeder mounted on your XL650, order the 1050 Machine Cover #13239 instead.

  12. My mistake, I checked my notes, the 135RN is set for 1.10 and the 1.47FP is 1.070. I corrected my original post, so as not to throw others off track.
  13. I like either the Bayou or BBI 135 RN. IIRC, I load it to OAL of 1.14 or 1.13, 1.10 don't recall exactly.
  14. My Vibraprime works mostly OK. It can fill a primer tube in ~15 seconds provided I don't get a primer hung up while transitioning out of the plastic tray and into the tube; which happens pretty frequently. I've only tried it with CCI and Winchester primers, it seems to favor the CCI. In any case, even considering having to stop to remove a jammed primer it is still quicker than the traditional hunt and poke.
  15. Looks like someone is a fan of HP38 or has a bit of it around Thanks for taking the time to share what you've learned!
  16. I've got a few, what size are you looking for?
  17. 1.008 is pretty darn deep, even for a 147g bullet. P.S. you'll get more responses if you post this in the reloading forum, under the 9mm/38 section.
  18. I chose 'other', otherwise known as Prima V. Performance wise Prima V and N320 are very comparable. However Prima V meters much better for me, hence my vote. The fact that it is a tad bit cheaper is just icing on the top.
  19. Any chance the primer punch/seater assy is loose or bent?
  20. I like Prima V and N320 for my 9mm minor loads for my CZ.
  21. I haven't shot plated and jacketed reloads, however I have shot a quite a few coated ones. I find the coated bullets to be very acceptable from a accuracy perspective, provided you keep an eye on bullets that get scraped/scratched during the reloading process, as this could result in 'fliers'. Also, this isn't a bullseye activity, so I'm not looking to get 1/2" groups when I test/practice.
  22. Here's my thoughts for not moving forward with load development of 147 bullets and the Ba 9.5 powder (perhaps my concerns are misplaced; I'd appreciate any corrections/clarifications) While developing loads the same 147 bullet using a different powder, I became concerned with the free cartridge volume after calculating powder charge and bullet seating depth (remember I seat a bit deeper than typical, because of the CZ's short barrel lead-in) and this was with 3.0 gr powder charge. After doing the math and considering a safety factor, I expect that the Bayou or BBI 147 bullets could be loaded a bit stiffer than 3.0 grains of the powders I was testing and not compress the powder, however there's not a lot of space in there, especially when you consider that I'm using mixed brass and don't measure each and every bullet. Seeing the low velocity with the Ba 9.5 (at the same powder charge that easily put the round in the 130's PF with other powders) I expect the pressure vs. powder charge to be exponential rather than linear because at some point the powder will get compressed, which should jolt the pressures very high; I could be wrong with this hypothesis, so if anyone experience with this please share. @57K you're correct the Prima V and Ba 9.5 are closer in size than either is to the N320. Different being that the Ba 9.5 has a very consistent size, whereas the Prima V has varying size 'grains'; I think someone on this forum referred to them as looking like 'Nerds' candy.
  23. To finish the testing with the Ba 9.5, I loaded up two additional test sets with 135RN and 147FP Bayou bullets, using powder drop (from N320/Prima V) that produced low/mid 130 PF in my previous tests. The 147 was a bit of a disappointment with this powder charge. The gun cycled each round, with the shells landing consistently between 3&4 O'clock. They didn't eject very far, maybe 2-3' at most. Soft recoil, perhaps for plinking, but definitely not usable (with this load) for USPSA. Using N320 or Prima V, I can get the same bullet comfortably within minor PF. I'm not going to perform any further development with this projectile/powder combo. I tested the 147 first, so I was a bit surprised at the results for the 135 bullet, as I was expecting similar low velocities. While the Ba 9.5 is a bit slower than n320 and Prima V at the same charge, this load may be worth additional testing. Recoil was very smooth (not 'snappy), shot clean with very little smoke and ejected the shells consistently at 3/4 O'clock about 5-6' away. I decided to compare accuracy of the Ba 9.5 load to my Prima V, both with 3.5g of powder and the same bullet. The picture at the bottom shows the results; same distance and time (about .5s) between shots. BTW, this is unsupported, 'free style' so the credit for some of the fliers may be mine, rather than the cartridge/gun.
  24. Same for me, I've seated a few Winny primers sideways, never happened with CCI. Doesn't happen often enough for me to put Winchester on the do not fly list. I think there's a hair difference in dimension.
