  1. Check out toolking.com for good deals on refurbed Hobart welders. Also if you have Tractor Supply stores in your area, they often have good sales on Hobart stuff. I bought a 187 on sale ther 2 years ago and have enjoyed it ever since.
  2. Biily Bullets makes a good moly coated bullet and they are in AZ. www.billybullets.com I also like the one's from Bayou and Bulletworks. For jacketed Montana Gold is #1.
  3. In years past (20 years or so) I found CCI's to be the hardest primers. I bought some recently when I couldn't find Winchesters and found the new CCi's to be no more difficult to light up. I've shot most all the other brands in recent times and found no noticable difference as far as the loads go for USPSA ammo. As far as hardness of the primers, Fed is softest, Wolf are hardest (the occasional one won't light in my tuned CZ Shadow). Win and Rem seem to be in the middle and similar in hardness. I haven't tried the new Tula primers though some I've talked to have had no issues with them. I also have no issues using small rifle primers when I need to. If you're loads are at or near max, it's always a good idea to back off some and work back up any time you change brands of components.
  4. I think the airlines charging extra for checked bags causes a lot of the problems.
  5. I gotta agree with you. I keep waitin for someone to get on with a cage full of chickens like some folks used to do on the old Central Texas Bus Line when I was a kid.
  6. I've been very satisfied with the Dawson ICE. I like their basepads too. Tool-less removal and very sturdy. All mine allow 19 (+4) reloadable in 40 S&W.
  7. I use squares cut from 2 1/2" (1/4" to 3/8" thick) mild steel flat bar for the bases. Plenty durable, available and cost effective.
  8. Been using the Dillon for years. No problems, works great.
  9. I tried an extended mag release but had issues with unloading during loaded table starts. I just use the stock mag release with a lightened spring. For sights I've had excellent results with the Dawson FO front and adjustable rear. Zero issues for over 3 years.
  10. I bartered with a friend for the fulcrum trigger and KKM bbl in my G24. To me, the trigger is a big improvement over stock. It's no 1911 but the aluminum trigger feels much better than the spongy stock plastic. If you can, try someone else's before you spend. KKM needed to have the throat reamed a little to accommodate some bullet profiles but I feel more comfortable shooting lead with it.
  11. Best two surfaces I've seen are crushed limestone or grass. Pea gravel is like shooting in a bowl of Cheerios.
  12. +1 for KKM. In my 24 it improved accuracy with jacketed and works great with lead.
  13. Same as ChuckS & Nik. I hate using pockets and loading 11 would eventually slip by on an unloaded start.
  14. We have a group of 3-4 that show up early (7am). They drag out the wall trailer and set out all the walls needed in each bay. By that time others have arrived and seeing the walls out, they seem to help more readily. Empty bays seem to be a turnoff to some. I guess they're afraid they'll get stuck setting up the entire stage. We also have carts for each bay with sticks, target stands, tools, stakes, etc. Keeps workers in the bay instead of leaving to look for a stapler and getting "lost".

    Price of gas

$3.15 this morning in Houston. Price has been easing down the last few weeks.
  16. My rig for the CZ is a Bladetech DOH, CR Speed mag pouches and a CR Speed belt. If I was setting up another rig I'd buy the Bladetech again but I'd look hard at the Double Alpha belt and their Racer mag pouches.
  17. I'm using a Wolff I captured rod with a 13# spring in my 24. Nothin special but it works.
  18. I have a set of Decot Revel's. they've been working with shooters for a long time. Their HyWyd's have been a shot gunning standard for years. They suggested monovision lenses for me and recalculated my right eye scrip for front sight distance. Special requests, no problem just call them.
  19. Plain black Dawson adjustable rear (3 yrs of major of loads w/ no problems) and .100" wide FO front. I prefer the red insert. My eyes aren't the best but this sight combo works great for me.
  20. 4 years ago, headed to our first major match (300+ miles away) my friend realizes 140 miles out that his belt holster and pouches are still at home. He owed his wife big time for meeting is halfway back towards home. We never let him forget that he forgot but since then I have to work at making sure I've got all my gear. One day it will be my turn to forget...

    CCI Primers?

13# spring here. No problems lighting CCI SPM's or SP's by Win, Fed or even Wolfs.
  22. Out of the package the Dawson extensions would allow 17 or 18 rnds. After tuning followers per their video, I got 19 reloadable in all but one. For some reason that one had an extra coil in the spring. Clipped it off and it holds 19 also. I can squeeze 20 into a couple of the mags but they are not reliably reloadable.
  23. Also, my Dawson basepads only increase capacity to 19 but I haven't really run across any stages where that's a problem.
  24. I went Dawson for sights (Adj. rear, FO front), heavy ice magwell and basepads. I also dropped in a glockworx fulcrum trigger, reduced power striker and mag release springs and a KKM bbl a friend gave me (I use lead sometimes). I tried an uncaptured steel guide rod and RP recoil springs but I went back to the OEM spring and rod. Completely reliable, easy to install and cost effective. Scotch stair tread tape on all the places that need to be grippy.
