  1. +1 on the Decot's. I use the Revel model. Individually interchangeable lens, frames stay put on your face. Customer service is the best.
  2. IMHO, the PTX turned a great, fool proof powder dispensing system into a troublesome PITA. Damaged case mouths, stuck cases, inconsistent charge weights. Probably just me but I ran out of patience after a month or so and dumped the PTX for a standard expander die. No more problems I'll soon switch from 40 S&W to 9mm and since I have the .355 PTX I'll probably try it again.
  3. 4+ years since I started case gauging all my match ammo. It's a pretty mindless task and yes, it takes some time but I haven't had an ammo issue since I've been doing it.
  4. Great ideas here. I just put a roll of 2" black tape in the range box for next month's match!
  5. CR Speed but I have ordered a DAA for my new rig. The CR speed is plenty stiff but I like the tapered end on the DAA inner belt.
  6. Something that's helped speed things up at our monthlies is avoiding classifiers requiring more than one or two strings. We found that a 12-18 round 3 or 4 string classifier can take a squad twice as much time as a 32 round field course to complete.
  7. I've used gold and silver paint pens to make my black sights stand out. Easy on, easily refreshed and easily removed if desired.
  8. A buddy of mine from the DFW area picked up some N320 for me recently at Alpine over in Arlington.
  9. 200-300 per hour, 9mm or 40 S&W, no feeders and all the primer tubes I need filled and ready. I could probably go faster but this speed works for me (kinda the same with my shooting).
  10. 4 stages + a classifier, ~110 rounds. $20 for club members and $25 for non-members. Spose or other family members shoot for $10. All our prices used to be $5 less but after 15 years most of our infrastructure needs repair or replacement. Oh also, first timers shoot for free.
  11. I got 2K in a prize table gift bag a while back. I made it thru 1600 with zero problems in my G24 Ltd gun. At the last monthly match I got several light strike FTF's. I checked the striker channel and it had quite a bit of build up in it. After a good cleaning all is well again. I'd probably buy some more I couldn't get my preferred Win or Fed's.
  12. Never been bit. Several Glocks, informal and competition. Large hands but not particularly meaty.
  13. Dawson basepads on all my mags. All run reliably with 19 rds. I just barney up if I feel the need to start with 20. One kit I got from Dawson had a spring about an inch longer than the rest. For some reason it had an extra coil. I cut that off and it's fixed. Also tried the Arredondo follower and found no improvement over the stock one.
  14. +1 on the Federal 180's from Walmart, 181 PF out of my G24. The budget priced Monarch 180's wouldn't do it though, 162 PF was all they'd make.
  15. I've used other brands of dies, RCBS and Lee mostly, with great results. The .40 PTX worked OK after a fair amount of trial and error adjustments but it would still trash 2-3 cases per 100. I eventually pulled it out and I use the expander from the 4 die Lee set in station 2. It seems to provide a better bell on the case for lead bullets and the press seems to cycle smoother. The powder dies that highxj mentioned do save some adjustmenting when changing calibers. I don't use the micrometer insert as I find the standard powder measure inserts are as easy to adjust as the Dillon bars and cheap enough to kep a few extras set for various charge weights. I also like the snap-in powder measure drain attachment.
  16. +1 on the Decots. They set me up with monovision. Left eye distant focus and right eye front sight focus. My eyes work together better than I would have imagined with this setup so moving around the range is no problem. The Dawson red FO front sight is sharp and the A zone is too.
