  1. Yes. I never have, but you can.
  2. I'm not as concerned about reducing the felt recoil as much as preventing any frame or barrel link damage with a lighter weight spring. So is the consensus that there is nothing to worry about as far as damage using a 14# spring with major PF loads? I'm not sure where and why this light spring craze hit, but you need to tune the gun to YOUR loads, not because someone told you to run a 14# spring or a shock buff. IMO, the shock buffs only serve one good purpose and that is to help tune my springs by putting a new one in each time I run a spring weight to see how hard it's being hit after a few rounds. After that, useless IMO. They generally cause more problems than they solve (i.e., tearing apart, short stroking the gun, which in turns causes other issues). If I were you, I'd buy a range of spring weights, take them all to the range, and shoot a couple of mags through each weight. Watch your sights, groupings (I like to do a bill drill to see where my groups end up with each weight) and how it feels to you. You should see and feel a big difference from the lightest to the heaviest weights - and somewhere in there is what will work for your gun and load. Keep in mind that if you change your load's PF, you may also need to change your spring. I had EVERYONE telling me to run a 12-14lb spring in my STI Trojan. That was a major mistake based on my experience. Long story short, I had MAJOR muzzle flip, sight acquisition was slow, and groups were almost non-existent except in slow fire. I finally settled on a 16 lb spring, which made a world of difference. No more muzzle flip. In addition, I had been having feeding issues beyond 8 rounds in my Tripp mags; that issue disappeared as well with a 16 lb spring. Now I realize you're shooting a 45, but the same principle applies. Good luck! I'm guessing you were shooting 40 major and I'm not sure how you could have "major muzzle flip" with a lighter spring. Not to mention, with the same load, you felt like you had "no more muzzle flip". Of course we all that isn't possible, so it felt like less muzzle flip to you. I certainly can't explain your other malfunctions, but as for me, my experience with 40 major has been exactly the opposite of your's. The lighter the recoil spring, the less muzzle flip. 10 and 12 pound springs have been the sweet spot for my Infintys and I do run a two buff system to short stroke the pistol.
  3. I just got 6 of them from Taran. They look really nice.
  4. I copied you with a little more duty friendly version.....ZEV knows how to build Glocks!!
  5. Those are the stages that you have to run over and over in your mind and even then, if you have a malfunction, you're likely to forget your plan.
  6. I agree whole heartedly with this^^^^. You may be one of the lucky guys who never has to sell a pistol. But, if you do, it will sell much faster (read instantly) if it is single stack legal. And as already stated, it will shoot very soft anyway. Unless you can afford an additional top end rather that just the barrel, breech face and extractor, I would probably spend that money on a Dillon or a few cases of ammo.
  7. I've made quite a few changes in pistols the last few years, but for now I've settled on 5.4" Sightrackers. I've got one and a stainless version on the way. I figure I will be shooting these two pistols for the next 10 years at least. As far as wear goes, my 6" gun has about 17K rounds through it and the only part that has broken is the extractor hook. It's still very tight and the TiN coating doesn't show any wear at all.
  8. No doubt, practice works and you can master a Glock or "whatever brand" trigger. But, I think 99% of the readers of this forum would agree that stock Glock triggers suck. I've got a ZEV Ultimate trigger in my G17 and it rocks!!
  9. Thanks!! Kevin Johnson made those for me. He's one of two people in the County authorized to make our Ranger badges. I swore I'd never carry a Glock as a Ranger simply because it didn't look right to me. But, after years of carrying heavy 1911s, it kinda nice to have a 22oz pistol on my hip. And, with the ALS holster, it's just kinda neutral. The gun doesn't really stand out at all.
  10. As a matter of fact, these are the custom made grip panels that are about to adorn my Single Stack Infinity......
  11. You're making a lot of assumptions right there Amigo. The SS Infinity is still on my list of work guns and I will carry it any and every time I need to look "Rangerly". This pistol is carried in a Safariland ALS paddle with TTI base plates. So, I've got 40 rounds of 9mm on me with the pistol and one mag. The ZEV will never see a tooled holster, while it does ride on a tooled belt......
  12. Brandon and Sandy will tell you they are not gunsmiths, they are engineers and are extremely proud of that fact.....
  13. Ok -- but you'll still get your butt kicked by the same people who do it now..... Without a doubt......but I will look cool while having it done to me!
  14. If Infinity sells your distributor frames, they have a lot of trust in them. Kodiak Precision is about the only one I know of in the US, but there may be others.
  15. Nah, let'm keep messing with it and soon I can shooting Production with this..............
  16. Awesome! And I'm amazed they let you do all that to a duty gun. Gotta love Texas! Did glockworx do they stippling too? Looks really nice. It's a complete build by ZEV..
  17. I got a G17 Dragonfly for duty use. The total weight of the unloaded pistol is 22 ounces. According to GLock, a stock G17 weight 25 ounces, so they removed quite a bit of weight from the slide. I've only shot 60 rounds through it so far for qualification, but I was extremely impressed. It's no Infinity, but it's shoots really flat and fast. The lightened slide, combined with a sipping and mag well, really let you lock into the pistol.
  18. Yes, you can run an RMR is you choose......Not my cup of tea right now, but maybe when my eyes get a little older..
  19. My Department issues a Sig 226 DAK. Anything other than that is on us......
  20. And I would recommend you hit one of us up to go to your first match. It will be a lot more fun and a whole lot less stressful with an experience shooter to help guide you through your first few matches.
  21. I've been wanting one of this guns since the first time I saw one in person at a local gun shop. Last week I practically stole this brand new one off of gunbroker. FWIW, it's just for work. I'm still (and always will be) a die hard Infinity guy when it comes to competitive shooting...
  22. Those two carry guns have been adopted by other families.......I'm down to two Limited guns and one SS as far as Infinity goes. The good thing about them, is they are as good as cash when you need it.
  23. Who has time to do all that........
  24. That is beyond amazing.........luck might have played a part too!!
