  1. I had a great time and was privileged to shoot with an awesome squad...Squad 10. The stages were great as always at the Cowtown Classic and the RO's were courteous and professional. I didn't get to enjoy the lunch today, but Cobb's burger yesterday, was the best tasting burger I've had in a while!! Thanks to all of you who volunteered your time to make it happen. I'm looking forward to the Cowtown Classic 2015!
  2. Paul, I just ordered it off of a skate boarding site. I can't remember which one, but you should be able to find it and have Brandon cut it for you.
  3. Good Point Nope, he posted in 10 or 40. So we know he means 40
  4. i thought they shot in Cresson on the 2nd Saturday too?
  5. If it was a 1911, I would tell you to try a lighter recoil spring. 14 pounds is pretty heavy for 9mm. I had one that would do the exact same thing until I went with a lighter RS.
  6. I don't think anybody said they wouldn't run after 10K rounds, its just how loose of a slide frame fit is acceptable to the shooter/owner. My first issued P220 was used and was very sloppy. It still shot fairly well as I recall. At least good enough to qualify. But, if you're paying for a 3-5K pistol, I would expect that you would want a pristine slide/frame fit for many thousands of rounds to squeak out every inch of accuracy you can.
  7. It would be standard. It's the same as their titanium frames
  8. I've seen slide to frame fit turn to slop in less than 5k rounds on all steel 1911s from a high end company. IMHO, the best way to build an aluminum framed gun is to use tool steel inserts like Infinity does. That way, you don't have steel in direct contact with the aluminum.
  9. I've been told by people who should know....10K rounds is the approximate life of an aluminum frame..
  10. "Well, I guess different parts of the country have the benefit of better training. What I'm talking about is basic stuff I learned in the academy 25 years ago, not SWAT training. Stuff like, proper interview stance, gun retention, the use of cover, including the different types of cover and how to use it; , conserving ammo, proper room and building clearing etc., etc., and one of the most valuable lessons was learning that I'll never be fast enough to out draw a drawn gun. " Sure, all of that is in my opinion very basic and is taught in the Academy. And maybe I've twisted this thread around in my head, but I thought we were debating how USPSA style shooting would get you killed on the street. All I'm trying to say is this, (and you can't possibly cover all the possible scenarios) if your average street cop and your average USPSA shooter (B class) encountered a threat, (for arguments sake let's say a traffic stop where the driver pulls a gun) I believe the USPSA shooter's ability to draw quickly and put shots on target would put them at an advantage over the average cop. FWIW, I'm not knocking cops. I just know what practicing USPSA shooting skills has done for me. How can shooting fast and accurately, reloading and clearing malfunctions quickly, along with shooting on the move, do anything but help in a deadly force situation?
  11. I tend to disagree with you on that point. You're average USPSA shooters should be able to draw and put a round on target in less than 1.5 seconds. That would win most gunfights. Of course is they miss and immediately unload and show clear.........we have a problem!! You're kidding right? Maybe you're right about the average USPSA/IPSC draw time from a competition rig, but very few would be able to do that from a law enforcement rig. Again, and like others have been pointed out, when comparing what we do in USPSA to Officer safety practices and tactics, it really is comparing apples to oranges. I agree with what previous posters stated in that the average USPSA shooter would have a hard time surviving on the street with out the benefit of some kind of specialized training, other than USPSA. No I'm not kidding. I've been a cop for 23 years and I've been to a lot of firearms training schools and I'm a firearms instructor. For the average street cops, which make up the bulk of the police force, the specialized training you speak of, doesn't really exist. SWAT operators are a totally different animal when it comes to tactics and training.
  12. I tend to disagree with you on that point. You're average USPSA shooters should be able to draw and put a round on target in less than 1.5 seconds. That would win most gunfights. Of course is they miss and immediately unload and show clear.........we have a problem!!
  13. Congratulations!! I've got an 8 month old myself....... I noticed you're in Stroudsburg. That is a beautiful area. I traveled up there a couple years ago on a murder investigation. Hard to believe you're that close to NYC!!
  14. Anything by Florida Georgia Line.......
  15. I handled one with the LEM trigger last week and I really did like the way it felt, for a plastic gun. But I can buy like 2.75 Glocks for the cost of one HK. And from what I've read on here, the Glock triggers are easier to shoot faster with.
  16. Larry, I thought you had disappeared!! Good to know you're still kicking down there!!
  17. I seem to remember that.....now look at you! And similarly, I DQ'd 6 rounds into the first state of my first major match for sweeping myself on a retreat stage....but I'm still here. Roth was not very subtle either!!
  18. Everybody likes to investigate once in a while.......
  19. They use Government length recoil systems on their 5.4 and 6" guns.
  20. 2013 nationals1st tanfoglio Eric the great but he would win with a hipoint 2nd tanfoglio Ben 3rd did Dave shoot his FN? 4th did TGO shoot a XD? 2012 nationals 1st tanfoglio 2nd tanfoglio 3rd CZ It's hard to see a edge going to the G34, don't get me wrong I like my glocks and that's what I have been shooting lately but I don't think it give me a edge Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk You drug up a 3+ year old thread? Fwiw, I went from G34 to stock Shadow back to G34 to Mink-tunes AA Shadow. It was the tuning that made the difference, and now I would tell you that for me, the shadow blows the Glock out of the water. Next you should go find a thread from 1980 and tell those fools how open guns with comps and red dots are the future. Use modern data to prove your point.
  21. I'm seriously thinking about sending Taran my G34 for his RTS (Ready to Shred) package. If any of you have a Glock with some of Taran's work, please post up your photos. Thanks, Trace
  22. Some of the best Limited shooters in the DFW area are Cops. A couple of them run the range at their Department and probably get some additional Department ammo...... As to their covering the windows, my guess would be low light shooting or maybe some of the Narcotics officers were shooting and they wanted to protect their identity.
