  4. Agreed. It also makes it much easier for the bad guys to back a pick-up up to it and load it. And in the case of one thats bolted down, all they have to do is wrap a chain around it and pull it loose with the truck.

  6. I really think the weight matters a lot less if you're carrying in a full power patrol rig, aka double belt, sam brown, etc. Now if he's a detective, carrying like I do, with a single pants style belt, the weight matters more in my opinion. The X5 would be a nice option, especially if they offer it with an aluminum frame.
  7. Up to you, man. If you read my above post, it was an attempt to help you, and show you some other places to focus on. Then again, if youre done....youre done. Mine too
  8. I've done it, but none of them were stock STI 2011s. Years ago I carried a Tactical 5.0 in 40 and Eagle in 38 Super, both of which had reliability packages from Tripp. Since then, I've carried Infinity Widebodys in 40 and 9mm. They worked great, were very heavy and I was meticulous about mag maintenance. It is well known that the 1911/2011 platform "can" be finicky with factory length 9mm and 40S&W ammo. So, if you decide to do it, test the snot out of it first.
  9. dskinsler83, I can see why you are saying what your are saying, but it may be that he simply doesn't have the time to go into great detail about the product or that he doesn't have the verbiage to do so properly. Or, maybe not......Either way, I've read enough of Johnny Glock info that I'm interested in one of his triggers too. I just haven't got around to spending the money yet.
  10. Yeah I worried about this rule for a minute when I was trying to lean my Ghost out too far. So, I started wearing it in more of a production manner, which is actually how I carry at work. With that said, I've NEVER seen anyone measure anyone at a match and I (like you) have seen plenty of shooters that "appeared" to be in violation. IIRC, the Bladetech DOH is even more than 2".
  11. rangertrace, because I'm a Texas Ranger and my first name is Trace.......
  12. It sounds like you may not be dry firing correctly. There was a time when I worked out of town for about 6 months and I had to resort to dry firing in my poorly lit hotel room. I quickly trained myself to dry fire without a proper front sight focus and the real shooting suffered. Once I realized what was happening, i just didn't dry fire unless the lighting was adequate and the live fire shooting improved. As far as your match performance goes, it may be that your trying too hard instead of just letting the shooting happen...
  13. Roy, I'm down to three......Having Jake caused me to adjust my way of thinking.

    Zev Magwell

I've got the small one on a complete ZEV build G17 and it's solid as a rock....
  15. Does anyone "know" if there is going to be a criminal investigation or has it even been referred to LE there?
  16. Man I have to say, that Johnny's trigger's are calling my name.....
  17. For the pistol I like the Comp Tac Infidel ultra. I usually just throw the extra mag in my pocket. But if you wanted a nice pouch, I recently bought one of the more expensive Bladetech single mag pouches with the belt clip and it carry's the mag very high. I like it, a lot!
  18. Whatever you ordered will be worth the wait. Top Shelf "everything" is what you have coming to you. And maybe the best thing is, once you've experienced Infinity first hand, nothing else will do....
  19. IMM length guns are 4.5" which is what they base their open division guns on. It's a great length..
  20. That is a great way to describe the recoil impulse of my ZEV G17. Red Ryder, Lock up times are way above my head.
  21. No sir....If you lighten the reciprocating mass (the slide) you will lessen the recoil, period.
  22. I've got a complete ZEV G17 Dragonfly. It is not and never will be an Infinity. Keep in mind the gun only weighs 22 ounces so they pulled around 3 ounces out of the slide. Combine that with the stipple job, mag well and ZEV Ultimate trigger and you get a fast, flat shooting pistol. I like it a lot. Will I ever compete with it, probably not. But for carry and the fun of shooting it does exactly what I wanted it to do.
  23. If you only drove in a straight line, I would be more likely to agree with the "easier to drive" part of this comment. One major thing I noticed when I traded my 3/4 ton Chevy Diesel for my F150 is turning at low speed, i.e.: parking lots etc, was/is much easier with the lighter F150 over the diesel.
