  1. maybe not an answer to "tumbler" i may be minority here but.... ultrasonic whatever you can get cheap online $70 range lots of forumlas and tricks.... start with ...... google clean and shiny no dust.... less exposure.....cleaner than vibratory clean primer pockets are you looking to wet tumble? first time i saw the concrete mixer i was amazed......
  2. while often it is COAL there are other reasons you will get failure to plunk. try coating some of your fail to plunk/. gauge bullets with sharpie.... insert a few times, the sharpie will wear at contact point...... just another tool in your diagnostic arsenal...... i had a few test cartridges fail recently due under crimping..... above will also indicate case bulges..... im currently culling out cbc, and aguilla brass (and recently a few ppu issues) also try rolling a few and check for concentric bullet........ eccentric cartridges may have issue induced at case mouth flaring stage... i dont own one for 9mm but many will say the lee FCD is unnecessary, and a greater evil vs setting up dies appropriately and culling brass..... at this point probably wont get one. and sometimes, albeit rarely a bullet is out of spec. another cause could be sized case legnth like the guys above said measure as much as you can and take notes case length, flare, crimp (empty case), coal, bullet length, bullet dia.. (case wall .... but that's a whole different thing) the case gauge is nice.... and pricey..... but if i was competing i'd prolly plunk all, right now i just plunk every 3-5 i'm loading for MOAz minute of A zone. careful you might become a benchrest person. feel free to ask questions there are far more experienced hand loaders here.... i'm happy to help diagnose and possibly help fix any problems.... (aka there are no stupid questions)

Was AD on draw? or other? did he shoot leg /foot?
  4. my recent tests have been with blue bullets and i tested .358 dia. there is much controversy regarding what dia for 9mm. they worked extremely well for me, with zero leading. all Round nose bullets are not created equal. the nose profile changes from bullet to bullet. you'll have to push test each to get max oal. closest thing is to find someone with same gun/bbl with similar round count and then the COAL will be "close"
  5. reset isn't an issue for me either if i do notice it, its only on first shot of a series if it is an issue won't a bunch of reset drills fix that?????? more so focusing on finger/trigger reset portion of this drill I love a tuned gun!! i'm not questioning that I'm questioning if this is one of those things where you can fix the shooter vs fix the gun. with a high level competitive shooter, shooting with and without block .... will bill drill times be better?
  6. blue bullet 125 grain .358 diameter coal 1.065 3.5 grain bulleye mixed head stamp SB primer 1.065 inch shot group (widest minus bullet dia) cz sp-01 tactical im trying not to be bench rest like in my testing more real world, empirical method, and practical i hope i have a chrono but am trying to avoid using it basically i was given a starting load 4.0 given info (not tested) 3.8 grouped but not touching 3.5 frequent 1 hole group i would load 6 bullets, go shoot check for pressure signs drive home (2 min) load more and shoot slow fire 2 hands plan was to go up ladder test down a few then up a few long story short found this load yes its a short carteidge, cz has short chamber the few i have left are testing out @ 1.075 ill retest when i get more bullets test process: my friend thomas shot competitively in his younger days. so i had him shoot/test this load. small paper plate 7 inches 10 yards 18 rounds (full mag plus one) two hand unsupported i asked him to shoot at a decent pace, not slow, ended up approx 1 shot every 2 seconds, so there was some pressure and it was his first time handling gun idea is a more practical test, not off rest, at common distance "THOMAS TEST" full mag plus 1 small paper plate 10 yards 2 hands unsupported/ freestyle 2 second par per shot time starts first shot i'm happy with load..... and my friend may no longer shoot my guns......
  7. I've handled a shadow and own a stock spo-1. With some double action work that I did. I didn't think the shadow was that much more spectacular. The double action feel was same. There was improvment in single action. On shadow shorter reset slightly crisper break. I think with a few more drop ins and a few hours of labor my stocker will be as good if not better I was a bit surprised that the shadow wasn't a huge improvment over stock.
  8. Great write thanks... Thing is each bullet is going to have it sweet spot.... Powder load speed jump etc etc. I sure you'll be able to find a sweet spot. I like test for the MOA. Minute of A zone accuracy Or just ladder and shoot for groups as long as you in safe zone. I trying not to be so anal with my testing . I'll post another thread with my results my test
  9. Thanks for the price break down Blue bullets 125 gr round come out to .0675 Some should keep a running table of bullet costs and sticky it. Slight difference... It's what I ran tests on. And found supper accurate load
  10. I thought rule is internal non visible alterations are allowed Never mind Part. 22. States that fo block safeties cannot be modified/ disabled . In a timed pressure situation you won't feel difference the firing pin block spring and lifter create.
  11. Yes 1mm!!! If czc did work prolly nothing you would be able to tell... Both will have very short reset. There is a lifter that hits the firing pin block. Basically you can shave down the lifter. Or remove lifter and replace with spacer..... Pretty ez. Thing is it's very subtle the feel of lifter moving fpb, A good polish job and it goes away. Another issue is an few ounces in a pressure situation is nothing. I feel like the short reset and crisp trigger (good hammer sear) is more important than weight. The real question is why not get base model and DIY. With drop in parts and polishing yourself .... If I went that way I'd rather get the tac sport for the money, shadow tac 2 and tac sport same price. But if staying d/a s/a shadow. I'd go DIY on base spo1 or 75. Spend the rest on bullets Czc does more polishing ramp etc etc. I also think they ream for slightly longer chamber. ( notorious short chamber stock). And warranty custom shop gun.
  12. Cheap brass cleaning rod. Brass brushes if you can get them. Brass is softer than steel. Get kit at "fun show" for cheap. I have great kit with a few years worth of cleaning tools, mops, nylon tooth brush, bronze tooth brushes, bronze bore brushes brass rod. for multi caliber for $15 . Including bag. My barrel stays clean....... Really only used rod once... For break in clean.
  13. Send me the blade tech holster ( czspo1). ......you won't have problems with holster any more.. The metal and finish on any decent gun is harder than kydex or plastic...... Holster wear from use is different thing. Chances are your gun is scratching holster.... But sand it anyway for peace of mind.....
  14. jack you are from florida ..... its hotter than helles, averaging above 75 % humidity and august highs in the 90's and i live less than 5 minutes from indoor i can go for short live fire session, i shot just less than 50 rounds today there is outdoor range. ill prolly join after i finish gearing up and finish mods on guns (i'm estimating january) today's new discovery i shot single handed both strong and weak a few rounds. i was in A zone 1/3 scale at 5 yards. sslllloooow. my weak hand swings crazy wide. strong arm jumpy but nothing like left. guess where some new research is going did some 75% speed singles few reset drills strong/weak singles few zimbabwes tried to shoot at 3inch mutiple dots on page. my eyes /brain confused aborted 1 bill drill 1/3 scale @ 5 yards i have the enos book in storage. im thinking about an anderson book i like the way trains on vids..... or one of ben stoegers for next book
  15. I don't have holster yet. I'm doing simulated draw and with a well placed shot 2.5 sec ish. But feels much longer. I realized that recently a slow perfect draw to first shot practice is not helping. At range today I did a bunch of singles @ tempo and was pulling shots left on. A zone border. Lateral not low left. With ocassional c. Thing is I don't know. I'm here trying to fin the answers. I did add dry fire practice. In dark room focus on sights with tempo trigger pulls observing sights for movement. A stronger support hand is helping. I'm also doing same with 2 shot par time .50. Slow fire I'm just bit left from my supported shots. Thing is I never ever throw a shot right. That half of target is safe. I've experimented with finger pad. position. Scaled bill drill today. 5/6 A first shot was C low left. I'm fighting to smooth the trigger movement. Or slap. I need help. My slow fire s/a shots are ok. My single slow d/a shots are ok. Let's say I shoot pairs x 3 targets..... The first shot is always more left. S/a, d/a No difference. But every shot after at tempo is good. Zimbabwe at medium speed I'm Pretty much left but in A zone . I'm out of analysis/ ideas for what is going on. Granted I've only been pushing the speed for less than 2 weeks. I could use some advice....please
  16. i had a tuned ish springfield armory that would go 2 to 3 K between cleanings never a failure. i now shoot at stroked colt much tighter, wont make 1k before cleaning i don't own a custom super high speed gun but imagine having lower tolerances would necessitate more frequent cleanings......
  17. those are pricy. there are other less expensive options. blue bullets has an inexpensive sample pack. dont know it its better but deffinitely comparable i like them those bullets make me look like a better shooter with right load and tuning very managable recoil and faster target re acquisition many are of the 147 are a bit finicky to load...... but well worth it
  18. i ve tried the high tech stuff it works ive tried the basic stuff it works ive tried dry lubes they work ive tried aerosols expensive solvents i broke my teeth on break free/ clp it works most of us here are probably shoot in and for comptitive situations, relatively clean enviroments a good scrubbing with ________ (fill in the blank) wipe and swab, repeat until swabs are clean, i like to brush bore with brass brush with (fill in the blank) mop, repeat until clean. coat all contact surfaces, moving parts lightly with ______ ( same fill in the blank) wipe of any excess currently my fill in thre blank is: sythetic mobil one, and mp7 (was given to me) i keep remmington dry lube in the bag just in case and it doesnt leak... dont over think it, shoot more, and keep it clean i dont clean after every range session.....
  19. i try and run 1 box factory for function test then good strip clean and lube then run a few boxes through, then some reloads make sure all is working at this point I tend to run it 'till its super dirty to see if a liitlle or alot of dirt will induce failures.... ( or cant stand all the crud building up) then id change out part, shoot, change part , shoot to see an feel change.... save all stock parts (in the event you need factory warranty issue). i still reserve opinion on parts changes until part/s get good break in. i'm a front f/o fan, but on my new gun i haven't changed yet and am learning to shoot iron/night sights. its improving skilllevel with tuned ish gun. i have to say learning to shoot on lesser gun improves many skllls on tuned gun.......
  20. I'm running 147 blue bullet over 3.0 bullseye Sounds like you got your issues fixed. I had issues with blue at first. All round nose are not created equal. Push tested bullet backed off from there. Then had issues turned out to be certain cases, now culled, Last issue I backed crimp off too much. I still plunk and spin every other, I have tried as high as 3.4.BE I have short/ tight chamber and coal is 1.075.....super short ..... But they perform GREAT. no pressure signs... No chrono data yet. And BE is Great in the .45

    Ramble On

Joined indoor range approx 1 month Cz for 2 months Skills are improving started cz with 12 inch paper plates... Then to 6 inch...... Now on 4x6 index..... Not yet ready for 3x5 Having issues with first shot trigger problems/ slap, follow up shots ok Started doing par time trigger pulls. Dry fire . With cz. With night sights in dark room. Quick precise trigger pulls 1st si/a, second d/a., D/a d/a ........ Watching for minimal sight movement. Still mix in slow smooth perfect. Still very slow from low draw/ simulated holster draw to target alignment to trigger pull. Keep practicing Did indoor bill drill @ scaled target. All in @ A zone. All tempo shots are hitting slightly left of called. Nothing ever right. Prolly trigger / improve left hand position pressure/hold/ grip Do reset drill next indoor. Zimbabwe on 4x6 index, 5 yards. Good. Tried indoor bullseye (ish) match at range. 1 miss. better with target focus. Still better with colt. Starting to feel the love with cz, she's keeping me honest More focus on indoor range time,. Limit to 50- 75 shots. Still up in the air with glasses issue Reload notes .45 Unsure if I like 3.8 gr bullseye under 200 gr blue bullet SWC. I think I'm on target faster with 4.0 gr 9mm 147 blue over 3.0 BE I'll leave it there for now
  22. i'm making good progress in improving my shooting skills where im stalling @ is draw to first shot improvment in this skill has come to a very very very slow crawl i've been doing alot of dry fire just draw to target pull trigger my other skills are improving much faster than this skill does anyone have any ideas what drills/practice might help? What to do?
  23. i'm going to have to test out one of these is there enough recoil that you dont relax like the airsoft???? dang just checked no cz.......
