CLEANEST BURNING POWDER FOR 9MM PCC ???
Patrick Scott replied to cecil's topic in Pistol Caliber Carbine
I run nearly the same load. 4.5wsf and 124 PD JHPs. This pic was taken after a 1500rd in one day class. I didnt think it was all that bad considering. -
Lots of talk about the potential for a "dangerously" cased PCC because we dont know if its loaded in the case and if there may be something in the case to discharge said loaded gun. Lots of talk about "sweeping" with a cased PCC. Funny, I have never heard/read these concerns over handgun shooters showing up to the line with a bagged handgun. Kinda the same situation isn't it?

I like mine for placing a mag on as I walk up to the line and if it is a table mag start depending on the stage I might want an extra mag. We have all seen mags puke part way through a stage before. Id rather not have to go back to a table to grab another mag. All that said, I find it way more useful in practice sessions than matches. Useful enough to keep it on my belt.

Should USPSA provide a printed rulebook to its members?
Patrick Scott replied to TaterHead's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
For better or worse, we have seen a lot of rule book "changes" the past couple of years and (for better or worse) I think thats the way its going to be. Im of the opinion that if this trend continues, a digital rule book is better suited to a dynamic rules set. No more loose papers stuffed or stapled into a hardcopy. No more silly time sucking debates about something that is not in the book, but their is a seperate ruling/clarifcation for. -

Its pretty similar. I can take a comparison pic tonight when I get home if you would like. -
Should USPSA provide a printed rulebook to its members?
Patrick Scott replied to TaterHead's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
Seems a lot of intersection between the "It can change too easy" group and the "We don't realize there are bylaws/processes and time limits on rule changes" group. -
Should USPSA provide a printed rulebook to its members?
Patrick Scott replied to TaterHead's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
Im not going to debate in this post about whether or not USPSA should provide a book, Id rather offer a simple solution. Things needed: .pdf file of the rule book Adobe .pdf program(free) Duplex(both sides at once) capable printer. You can do it without duplex, you will just have to flip and reload the sheets. 31 sheets of paper 3 staples Adobe reader has a "booklet" printing option, so after about 4 minutes of printing youll have this. (booklet printing instructions- https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/print-booklets-acrobat-reader.html ) -
Should USPSA provide a printed rulebook to its members?
Patrick Scott replied to TaterHead's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
Well, I guess we can't have it both ways. Maybe neither way is the "best", but I prefer to have all the rules current and in once place. It also seems that this is the most cost effective way to do that. -
Should USPSA provide a printed rulebook to its members?

IF that were to happen at least it would be easier to keep up with than all the separate rullings we had floating around before that hardly anyone knew about or even cared to keep up with. -
Should USPSA provide a printed rulebook to its members?
Patrick Scott replied to TaterHead's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
This is the biggest reason I dont mind the change. No more "If its not in the rule book, it doesnt exsist." comments that I may have heard once or twice. -
6.2.5.1 However, if a competitor fails to satisfy the equipment or other requirements of a declared handgun Division during a course of fire, the competitor will be placed in Open Division, if available, otherwise the competitor will shoot the match for no score. If a competitor fails to satisfy the equipment or other requirements for PCC or Open Division during the course of fire, he will shoot for no score. Looks like it clearly states in that case the PCC shooter shoots for no score. PCC guy delcares LTD, gets "bumped" to Open, but doesnt satisfy Open req, gets bumped to No Score.

Should USPSA provide a printed rulebook to its members?
Patrick Scott replied to TaterHead's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
I still like paper books, but I have no issue just using my phone for it and/or having the the .pdf version of the rules put onto my clubs tablets. Honestly I think if a club is running scoring equipment capable of holding a .pdf then there is no good reason for it not to be on there. The only thing is, who ever is in charge of the equipment should be checking for updates to the .pdf regularly. -
Taran Tactical PCC +10 Basepad Gen 1 and Gen 2 Differences?
Patrick Scott replied to Judo's topic in Gear & Accessories
I have one Gen 1 and 4 Gen 2's. Have not seen a difference in function. They all work fine for me on factory Glock 31rd tubes after making sure the bottom inside of the mag is free of molding flash and smoothing out all the sharp edges on the followers. -
TTI VS. TF 10 round extensions
Patrick Scott replied to Silverscooby27's topic in Pistol Caliber Carbine
I right after nationals I switched from a fleet(5) of delrin TF pads to TTI on factory Glock mags. Never had any reliability issues with either. Function wise the only thing I have noticed is sometimes I can get an extra round in the TTI vs the TF. The TTIs make taking the mag apart a bit easier to take apart and I like the looks a little better. I load Precision Delta 124jhps to 1.125" FWIW. -
That works well, but the heated vest thing is a good idea. When your core starts to cool down blood is drawn away from the extremities making them get cold in a hurry. You might not even notice your core is cooling because of this. Since I shoot in Vermont year round I have played with using the big body warmer on my core and I can tell a difference in my hands and feet.

If its(40 S&W) easy for the uneducated to throw together with "what ever parts" and it runs. It will sell and its not a bad idea. A good one really. It will not however be the most popular among the top USPSA PCC shooters. Which really doesnt matter. 9X19 guns run now for those educated enough to buy the proper parts.

When I was shopping 510s I had the same question. I was told by a few shooters that green dot optics can wash out pretty easy on white steel. I bought a red one, no issues so far after about 6 months.

AR 9 mm Pistol brace, PPC class? , rules, rules
Patrick Scott replied to mikeAZ's topic in Pistol Caliber Carbine
Every time I see a post about making a division for braced pistols, all I hear is "I have this gun that doesnt fit the rules. Can we make a division for it? I don't want to buy the proper gear to play the game" Also IIRC per AR pistols are a no-go in Open even with a holster. Rule 5.1.10 Forearms have been deemed "fore grips" 5.1.10 Handguns with shoulder stocks and/or fore grips of any kind are prohibited -
My PCC gun (14.5 barrel+comp) doesnt seem to cause issues, but I run between 145 and 150pf ammo. It looks like some top folks at nationals seem to run PF in that range. Maybe there is something to that ...

650 Sitting or Standing?
Patrick Scott replied to Jim Watson's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I have both side by side on a bench with the handles(roller) at nearly the same height. I sit to load and find barely any difference in ease of operation between the two. -
Lol. It's not just your club.

Little background: I'm a certified RO, PCC shooter, Club VP, sometimes MD, and almost always at setup to help with stages and WSBs. While I don't care about a PCC shooter being able to lase the first target from the starting position as far as keeping the playing field level within the division, I think its dumb for a WSB to allow it. This is about shooting and gun manipulation challenges, and while I guess you could argue that hip shooting with a laser is a shooting challenge I find it far more interesting to challenge the shooter to start in such a way the have to manipulate the gun a bit more. One sentence in the WSB and maybe a marker on the COF is all it takes to fix this "problem"

Probably the biggest winning gun- Quarter Circle 10 Glock lower Non-forward assist regular upper Shooting Innovations ramped 14.5 barrel Hiperfire trigger like the Eclipse Full weight bolt Blitzkrieg 9mm hydraulic buffer JP 308 carbine spring 140+pf ammo. The rest doesn't really matter
