  1. Just out of curiosity, how many of you guys are running small rifle primers? I have been under the impression that due to the harder cup of rifle primers, minor loads don't have enough pressure to properly seal the cup to the case causing gas leakage that ends up eating the breech face. Has anyone noticed this or other issues running rifle primers?
  2. Here is what is posted on FB from Taccom. Its seems the mod is intended to cure some light strikes. "The 9mm firing pins are back in stock!! These pins have a larger head than normal.....we did that so they do not mushroom out on you. And while our firing pins work on most 9mm bolts and with most triggers......there are some triggers that mmmmmmmight give you light hits. There is a fix for that.....and the end user can mod the head as shown in the last 2 pictures with a dremel tool, or you can also take it to a pedestal grinder too. It's an easy fix!!"
  3. Same thing happened to my "big head" Taccom pin. I contacted Taccom and Tim took care of me. CMMG on left, new(est) Taccom on right.
  4. I would love to shoot stand alone PCC matches with some extra distance and/or tighter shots, but again, In my area, I think the division is a long way away from that happening. At least with USPSA PCC as it is now I am guaranteed one match a month all year long with my home club and during the summer months I have an option to hit a club in a neighboring state.
  5. For me, I shot pistols in USPSA for about 5-6 years, once PCC hit I went full in because I enjoy shooting rifles more than pistols and PCC is the only/best way in my area to shoot a rifle in an action style match. At first I was a bit worried about what it would do to my pistol classifications, but I decided to just let that go.
  6. At least for #5 if I remember correctly, Colt runs a 5.5oz buffer and a 5.56 carbine spring, not sure on bolt weight, but I bet its comparable to most of the bolts we are using(except JP). From my testing, that setup is by no means slow cycling.
  7. In addition to that, I am also curious as to how Colt is cutting the bore in the bolt and what they are using for pins as far as material, harness and shape.
  8. That makes some sense to me, but what the Colt mil/leo guys are telling me kind of makes me thing that's not the case.
  9. The Colt pin(from pictures I have seen) looks like all the "standard" pins out there. I don't know what material they are using or how they harden it. I also can't find a good enough picture to tell how much of a radius they are using at the "step down". Having a hard time finding a legit Colt one in stock to buy.
  10. I have been cruising some non competition places lately with this issue at mind. So far a former Colt employee and at least 2 Colt armorers have told me that with the Colt guns this was/is not an issue. Here is an interesting snippet from one guy: "Dude. I was maintaining a f*#king fleet of full auto Colt SMGs. We had more in service globally than anyone and they all circulated through my shop.I can say with 100% certainty that I saw ZERO NADA NONE ZILCH broken firing pins. We saw dozens, if not hundreds of broken lower receivers. Hundreds of loose barrel nuts. Thousands of broken hammer trigger pins...Not a single broken firing pin on a Colt SMG. I replaced a few that were lost in the cleaning area. Saw plenty of bad firing pin retaining pins too." If this is the case and so far 3 out of 3 guys have told me it is, then what is Colt doing right? What are we doing wrong? Maybe its our non-milspec triggers, maybe its the quality of parts?
  11. Im not picturing why this would not effect .223/5.56 guns as well. Help me out here. Less protrusion from the rear?
  12. What do you guys think the cause is here? Versus 5.56/.223 pins the 9mm pins are shorter, run a return spring and what else? I wish someone would/could tell me that its the fact it runs a spring due to softer pistol primer cups. Id ditch the spring and run rifle primers, lol.
  13. Sorry guys. I had to abandon the BBI's. Im focusing on PCC and my certain barrel does not play well with them. Not any fault of the bullet.
  14. How new is the "new" one? I have a couple that I bought this winter. Not a lot of rounds on those yet
  15. Winchester SPPs are considered one of the softer primers, correct? Thats what I have been breaking my pins on. About 5 of them now split between 2 JP bolts, a Taccom bolt, a JP FCG and a Hiperfire ECL ETA: breakage has slowed down considerably since I stopped beating them up in dryfire
  16. Not always, one of the JP pins I broke wouldn't run when broken, but I have found JP pins have the best chance of working while broken.
  17. 124gr Precision Delta JHP 1.125" OAL 4.5gr WSF Winchester SPP Runs about 140PF out of my slow JP 14.5" barrel
  18. Since you just took the RO class, I think you should ask Troy about this. I already have...
  19. By saying the PCC shooter, shoots for no score.
  20. So now to you the PCC shooter is in OPEN, what if( and probably they are) his mags don't fit the 170mm gauge? What do you do now? What happens to an Open shooter with mags over 170mm?
  21. You are deflecting. I want to know how 6.2.5.1 doesnt apply, that is the question I asked you. Show me in the rules the where a barrel port for action operation is different than one for gas expulsion.
  22. Also, you just made the Sig MPX illegal. It has a barrel port
  23. How on earth does it not apply? You said "the rules to allow for any gun deemed to not meet the specs for that division during a match to get bumped to open" That is rule 6.2.5.1 so you are saying 6.2.5.1 applies, but your are also saying it doesn't apply.
  24. PCC can NOT get bumped to Open division: PCC 6.2.5.1 If a competitor fails to satisfy the equipment or other requirements for PCC division during the course of fire, he will shoot for no score
