Where are all the PCC shooters???
Patrick Scott replied to bimmerboy318's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
At the Area 7 Championship a couple weeks ago I think there were about 30 or so PCC shooters(out of a total of 333 shooters). My small home club in Vermont draws one consistently(me) and occasionally 1-3 more(30-50 total shooters). When I visit a club in southern New Hampshire I think there is about 10 or so(round 100 total shooters). -
Glock 33-Round Magazine Deformation?
Patrick Scott replied to StealthyBlagga's topic in Pistol Caliber Carbine
Happens in my QC10 lower gun as well with both Taccom and JP bolts. I think its rounds that present low and hang up on the mag body. I have one mag that sees use 98% of the time and is about 10 years old. I just keep pounding the it back straight when I notice it bending out. Done that half a dozen or so times. -
I wanted to isolate my Mr Bulletfeeder from the press so I began to look into a stand-alone solution. I was going to get the stand-alone mount from Rick, but it is designed for the older puck and rod mounting system. Here is what I came up with. 1"black iron pipe and flange,1/4X20 bolt, 1/4X20 nyloc nut, a few washers, the star washer from the original mount and a Nylon spacer contoured to match the pipe so that it will not spin.

Update. I think its fixed. I moved the ball bearings to the lower set of holes and it has not given me any trouble for a few hundred rounds. FWIW I was running an elastic hair tie for extra down force when the problem cropped up, even after removing it I still had the problem. Once I moved the bearings I put it back on. So far so good.

I have run about a half dozen muzzle devices on 9mm PCC guns, fast and medium speed powders. Comps don't do much, but they do something. Its not like on an open gun. Think more along the lines of the cherry on top of a cake instead of the cake itself.

I wasnt having any problems due to magazine rock, but just for fun, on one mag I used to JB weld to build up a pad on the back of the mag. Worked really well to reduce the rock.

I chronoed 141pf at Area 7 with a 124. Its the load I like for my gun(14.5" w/comp).

So my Mr. BF dropper die started sticking in the up position last night. I have loaded 4-5K on the setup(Dillon 650) with out this issue up until last night. The only that has changed since my last loading session is the reloading room was especially hot/humid last night. The die would push up, drop one bullet and stick there. It would stick in a way that even putting moderate force by hand on it, it would not close back up. I would have to wiggle it around to get it to return down. This issue would not happen every time, but probably 10 times per 100rds. I made sure the internals were good and clean and I messed around with adjusting the die up and down with no luck. This happened even without the feed spring attached. For what its worth I am running Precision Delta 124r JHPs and the dropper die balls are in the upper holes. Any ideas?

Since following this thread I have looked at some other long gun rule sets just to confirm we are not doing anything out of the ordinary. While browsing those rule sets I came across some interesting tid bits in our(USPSA) mult-gun rule set. Now I am kind of wondering why the PCC rules are different than the MG rules. I kind of like a few of the differences. Thoughts(copy and paste bits from the MG rules)? 5.2.Carry and Storage of Competitor Equipment 5.2.4. Firearms that are being transported on a cart, vehicle, or other such conveyance must be situated on the conveyance in either a muzzle up or muzzle down orientation if not bagged. Under such conditions long guns must have a chamber safety flag inserted. The muzzle of any such firearm, if oriented down, must point to a spot within 3 feet of the conveyance. If pointed up, it must be oriented such that a person walking around the conveyance will not be covered by the muzzle if they are more than 3 feet away from the conveyance. All such measurements shall be taken while the conveyance is situated on flat, level ground. In the event of disagreement on how the firearm is being transported, the RM shall be the final authority as to the acceptability of such orientation. 10.5. Match Disqualification –Unsafe Gun Handling Examples of unsafe gun handling include, but are not limited to: 10.5.1. Handling a firearm at any time except when in a designated safety area (or in the case of rifles, elsewhere deemed safe by a Range Officer), or when under the supervision of and in response to a direct command issued by a Range Officer. This does not apply to the carrying ofrifles or shotguns where Rule5.2.2 will apply. (Notice the " in response to a direct command part")

I have two PCCs and these are the triggers I use. The HF has over 20K on it, the JP is around 5K. So far so good.

My load is 124gr @1140fps, for USPSA a 25yd zero has always worked for me.

While that would be nice for consistency in our rule books, but messing around with bag/cart at the line and before RIC is a mess, a waste of time and I don't think any other rifle action sport requires it(probably because of the reasons I just stated). We are not the only sport running rifles and I'd say they other sports that handle what to do with these guns have a pretty good safety record. Just because the way we are doing it now is foreign to some, it doesn't mean its dangerous, too hard, or otherwise wrong.

Pcc handguard recommendations taccom
Patrick Scott replied to moonshoxx's topic in Pistol Caliber Carbine
I bolted a short rail section to one of my Taccom handguards with an epoxy bed. Worked fine, but you will notice a little bit of flex/zero shift. I went back to my old setup of a laser mounted on a 45 degree mount behind my CMore on my new upper with a Taccom HG, just because it was kind of a pain to set up the rail section on the old one. -

Pcc handguard recommendations taccom

Been using a taccom for almost two years. I like the small diameter. Its light weight, affordable and the fit/finish is decent. I have not had any issues with the mounting system(the tube is held to the nut with only one screw). The only downside I can come up with is you have no "bolt on" option to mount say a laser and if you do a custom solution like I did(glue/screw a rail section), you will find there is a little flex in the tube. Hasn't been an issue out to 10 or so yards though. -
I say no reshoot. The chair did not malfunction. I feel this is no different than a competitor getting hung up on anything else during the COF.

Using small rifle primers in PCC/Minor?
Patrick Scott replied to Patrick Scott's topic in Pistol Caliber Carbine
Thanks folks, as I said in the OP it was mostly a curiosity thing. That said if SPPs dry up again for some reason at least I won't have any worries buying SRPs, Im pretty sure the my PCC gun with a Hipefire in it will set them off Not too worried about my pistols since I dont play with them really anymore.
