  1. just reading through this, id be looking hard at the mag catch in the frame thats having feeding issues.
  2. see, there's the whole problem. if it wasnt a ford, no one would have ever hassled him!
  3. for me, kkm or jarvis. back in the day bar-sto was about the only good choice, but since the old man died ive not had one come through my hands i was impressed with.
  4. if you just want a few rounds to play with, just buy it. commercially loaded 5.56 is available.
  5. much higher amplitude inside a tumbler vs riding in a truck, or train car etc. so many variables, different types of powder kernels, space in the casing for it to move around, etc. here's my own thoughts on it, im not a fan of it, but 10 minutes in a tumbler should cause no harm.
  6. im not very good at it, but have done some. you will want to use a single file to point up the diamonds.
  7. very correct. shells play an equal part in patterning. tons of variables.
  8. JARD adjustable. im no 3gunner, but varmint hunter. fantastic triggers, though they require set up so are not a drop in.
  9. yes, choke brand matters. they are not all created equal. in a lot of years of shotgunning, ive come to where if i buy a choke tube, it will be a Briley. there are other excellent makers, but for me with a Briley, i know what to expect from a given tube restriction.
  10. spot on. if you truly fear you wont be able to buy in the future, buy a couple of spares now.
  11. and here ive been putting it on toast! learn something new every day. LOL
  12. the trigger does need some over travel. normal is to set screw to zero over travel, then back off an 1/8 turn.
  13. the same logic as calling any non thinking object tactical.
  14. good point, i filled the groove on the no-go side with red model paint.
  15. indoors only, get a wet tumbler if you do any amount of reloading. at one time i dry tumbled indoors, in my spare room for years. got a job working with lead, and lead testing was required, my lead levels were fairly high. several years of that job killed my reloading time, and my lead levels dropped 30%. they may not seem dusty, but guarantee'd you are getting lead dust from a dry tumbler. only thing i use a dry tumbler for any more is taking lube off sized rifle brass.
  16. the barrel lugs need fitting, plain and simple. the above^^ advice will make the safety function, but it is not correct.
  17. it should cause no difference in accuracy. you will just be cutting backwards on the feet allowing the slide and barrel to move forward a few thousandths. you will not be cutting higher on the feet which would cause a looser lockup.
  18. someone else's mystery loads, trash it.
  19. a primer pocket go-no go gauge is a handy tool. especially if you are getting older and blind and hate trying to read all them tiny headstamps.
  20. probably need a new firing pin. the spring likely doesnt affect the protrusion which if im betting right is the problem. you get light strikes on deep seated primers right?
