Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I’ve been trying to get one of their uppers or barrel/comp/handguard combos and they’ve been out of stock for a minute. Maybe I’m just missing the restock and they’re selling out fast? Seems hard to get your hands on one these days
  2. Well most I see are at least running a sensible daytime loadout for mechanized infantry (hydration pack, lots of ammo, no nods). Don’t get me wrong, I have my own set of all that stuff I’ll use at tactical games and brutality matches, but it’s too hot and heavy to use that stuff for a club multigun match!
  3. Yeah I’m not sure Fiocchi even makes it anymore. 3 gun is not nearly as popular as it used to be; particularly the shotgun side of it. The matches I shoot are 75% 2-gunners (even the points series and majors this year). It seems more folks are interested in the military simulation side of the hobby these days; I had never seen so many people running matches in full battle gear (plate carrier with plates and helmet) before this year.
  4. The 930 is ridiculously sensitive to cleaning; if it’s a shotgun heavy match you might need to clean it mid-match. They seem to have problems when they go over 150-ish rounds between cleanings. I have nothing positive to say about that shotgun; I see so many newbies show up with a jam pro expecting it to be hot s#!t only for it to go down halfway through the match. As for the other complaints about inertia guns, yeah, that’s fair, but most of them can be solved by hitting the gym and finding a consistent ammo load. I’m a smol lady and manage my M3K just fine.
  5. Don’t need to cut anything; you can just buy one of those $20 clamps that hold the magazine extension in line with the barrel for when you toss your gun into a bucket. Most have either picatinny or QD cups on them already. I did have to add a QD cup to my SGA stock but it at least has cutouts for them.
  6. MOA is still receiving and shipping new stock; just set an alert thru their site if something you want is out of stock and it’ll probably come back in stock within a month or two.
  7. The only guys I see with consistent shells are pro/semi-pro sponsored shooters running the gucci AA diamond stuff. That’s been pretty consistently available because they’re nearly twice as expensive as everything else.
  8. In the US, but my gun tends to prefer hotter loads; 1 1/8 @ 1200 fps is about as low as it will go and still shoot reliably. I generally go for 3 1/4 dram shells just shoot a dogs lunch of whatever is in stock.
  9. I honestly have trouble finding a consistent supply of any brand / type of shotgun shells and I burn through them pretty fast during the 3 gun season between 4 matches a month and practice sessions. Guess I just need to buy a few thousand at the beginning of the season and pattern them then. Hopefully supplies will be more consistent now that the supply chain crunches seem to be settling down.
  10. Yeah; I pretty much never pick up on internet snark anyway
  11. Huh? Tell that to the MDs who put a star or spinner 30 yards past the end of the ffz. I personally like the challenge; means you have to be dead on with those clays 5 feet in front of you and not just hose everything down with a cylinder choke (though those stages are fun too). It’s just another wrinkle to stage planning. If you want easy go back to USPSA
  12. Hayes Custom Guns works on the RIA but it looks like they’re backed up the better part of a year.
  13. I have a RIA Tac Ultra FS HC 9mm and it runs great and shoots laser beams as long as you’re running MBX magazines. I can’t get the factory magazines to get through a full mag without jamming though. But yes, it is pretty much your only option below $1000, and even then the MBX mags will probably take you over that.
  14. I’m running an M3000 and have probably 2500-3000 rounds through it and have started having malfunctions once or twice a match. It’s been a variety of issues from double-feeds from the tube to FTEs and light primer strikes. Are there any parts I should be replacing regularly at this round count? I did replace the extractor with a Benelli one before even using it, don’t know if I may need a new one as the edges are looking a little worn.
  15. The ones near me do this because it makes for more challenging shots on the clays for the open guys. My strategy in tac ops is just to shoot clays from further away if I can (it can’t always be avoided though). No reason not to shoot a clay from 30-40 yds if you’re running a mod choke. But folks in this thread are right; chokes are (or should be) a big part of the shotgun game. The MD put that spinner that far out for a reason. I’ve found the brand of the choke doesn’t matter as sizes are standardized, but extended chokes are a must for quick changes. I have a set I paid like $70 for 5 extended chokes and they’ve worked fine. edit: found the set I bought, prices went up but that’s not a shock. https://sjhardware.us/product/extended-choke-tube-set-mobil-choke-thread-pattern/
